  • It's normal for you to feel apprehensive when you want to raise your prices or implement significant changes in your wellness business. This fear may stem from concerns about losing clients or receiving pushback from them.

However, overcoming this fear is crucial, as taking action can ultimately help build confidence and empower practitioners to make positive changes.

In this episode, I share my own experiences with fear and reassure listeners that it's a normal part of the process. I encourage practitioners to take the first steps in implementing a campaign for raising prices, noting that as they move forward, their fear gradually turns into empowerment.

By focusing on the potential benefits to the business and clients, practitioners can transform this anxiety into enthusiasm for their new pricing strategy.

  • While the popular adage says “It’s business, not personal”, the truth is that business is personal. Our livelihoods are connected through work, and our businesses are an extension of who we are as people. There is no one right way to create an antiracist business, but creating a business culture with shared values can make a significant difference.

Trudi Lebron is the CEO of ScriptFlip! LLC and creator of the Institute for Equity Centered Coaching. By the time Trudi was 16, she had two children and had dropped out of high school—all the odds were against her. Today, Trudi runs a million-dollar coaching and consulting firm, helping entrepreneurs and coaches build antiracist businesses and become equity-centered coaches and leaders through ScriptFlip! certification programs, consulting packages, and executive coaching. Trudi holds a BA in Theatre, a Master of Science in Psychology, and is currently ABD in a PhD program in Social Psychology.

In this episode, I speak with Trudi about her book titled The Antiracist Business Book: An Equity-Centered Approach to Work, Wealth, & Leadership. We discuss how social change can take place in the workplace and how practitioners can create an anti-racist workplace culture.

  • Creating a program for your business can open up new doors, not only for your profits but also for your connection to your clients. Programs allow you to help your business become more client-centric, putting their needs at the forefront. There are so many benefits a program can offer over other sales offers that can improve your business, your client’s experience, and more. In this episode, you’ll hear from three different business owners I’ve worked with to create programs for their businesses.

Peter and Lynn are occupational therapists who I worked with to develop a framework they apply to all of their packages. This framework allows them to tailor their programs to their client’s individual needs. This means their clients get exactly what they need by customizing a basic format. Their clients have all responded positively to the change in the business model.

Chris uses hands-on bodywork and neuroscience to help his clients manage and overcome their pain. He’s found that by transitioning from offering ten sessions blocks to a 3-month long program, he can educate his clients on how to manage their pain at home. This has resulted in clients taking ownership and autonomy of their pain management while allowing Chris to become the type of practitioner he’s always wanted to be.

Talia helps foster literacy in children with a two-part program that involves both children and their parents. Her business model included programs from the beginning, and she believes it’s one of the reasons her business is so successful. She explains how even though her clients might want one thing, her program instead focuses on what they need. This has resulted in happier, healthier family dynamics and literate children who believe in themselves.

All three of these businesses understand the importance of offering follow-up sessions to their clients after their programs finish. While none have official follow-up programs, each offers maintenance sessions, next steps, or future upsell opportunities. Packages help you be more authentic and connected in your business.

  • What does the evolution look like for a solo practitioner who transforms into a leader of a team and a business? I’ve brought Galina Denzel on to share her incredible transformation.

Galina is a Business Revolution Academy graduate and part of our leadership program who has experienced tremendous growth. In fact, back in 2017, she worked one on one with 35-37 people per week and put in more hours than she could count. Today, she only works with a handful of people per day, has quadrupled her income, travels the world as she shares, and is even publishing books.

In this episode, I speak with Galina about her experience evolving from simply a space of care to that of a business. We talk about how she learned to separate her work life from her personal life and the internal process involved that got her to where she is today.

    About Galina Denzel:

Galina Denzel is a trauma resolution practitioner and movement specialist who works with nervous regulation and conscious movement to support people towards a greater connection to themselves, others, and the environment. She works with people struggling with chronic pain, traumatic stress, emotional eating, and restriction.

  • Most practitioners are missing the most powerful thing that they can do for business success–a process to convert leads. In business speak, this is called a sales process.

You should have a consultation with every single client, whether they’ve come to you ready to get started immediately or they just want to learn more about what you offer. A consultation isn’t about convincing someone to book with you but rather diving deep and getting to know them to determine if you’re a good fit.

In this episode, I share helpful tips on how to lead your free consultation and why you shouldn’t just “wing it.” You’ll learn how to be the interviewer and lead the consultation like the practitioner that you are.

  • The pandemic shifted everything for a lot of business owners. From a positive perspective, some business owners were forced to confront how they had been feeling about their businesses for a long time, and the pandemic was the catalyst to make a change.

Hilary McKown was an American living in Italy when the pandemic first hit, forcing her to close down the yoga studio she had worked so hard to build. She used this time to transform her business into something that would serve her clients more deeply. Today, she runs a remote business that allows her flexibility, and she no longer feels like a slave to her business.

In this episode, I speak with Hilary about why she ended up closing her yoga studio for good, the new way she serves her clients, and how much more joyful running her business is now. Hilary also shares her advice for other practitioners who want to take their businesses in a new direction.

    About Hilary McKown:

Hilary is a practitioner and former owner of The Yoga Place in Milan, Italy. She now runs the Embodied Resilience online program, where she can make a more significant impact by helping others with nervous system regulation, trauma, and pain. Hilary is dedicated to working with all bodies, particularly those living with persistent pain or chronic or undiagnosed conditions.

  • An online course could potentially be a great income stream, but is it the best model for your business and for your clients? When someone wants to create an online course, it tends to be because of three reasons: To make more money by adding an income stream, to provide a cheaper offer than their regular services, or to scale their business.

When talking about an online course in this episode, I’m talking about a digital product. An online course is a pre-recorded curriculum that your customer buys whenever they want, to start and move through whenever they want, at their own pace. It’s a DIY model where the customer is on their own with the content.

In this episode, I talk about the important factors to consider when you’re thinking about creating an online course. Will your clients get results from it? Are you prepared for the marketing investment that comes with an online course, which is essentially a digital product? Have you done everything you can to maximize your business and profits before turning to an online course?

I personally believe online courses are only suitable for a small number of businesses. I’d encourage you to consider creating an online program that you run personally. It’s founded in relationship marketing and is statistically more likely to give your clients the results they’re looking for.

  • When you lead with your offer, you are limiting the number of people who can help. In fact, putting an offer out with a link to purchase it is selling, not marketing. Marketing involves attracting leads, capturing leads, and nurturing leads.

In this episode, I talk about how to make your marketing a lot better by using the stages of awareness. These stages include being unaware, awareness, diagnosis, the real solution, and the “they get it” stage. I share how to move your leads from the unawareness stage all the way through the “they get it” stage.

We discuss the ups and downs of business, modalities, systems, and avoiding the freelancer trap.

    About Julian Corwin:

After working as an engineer, Julian got into fitness and nutrition which lead to an injury within six months. After seeking help from a sports medicine doctor, a chiropractor, and a massage therapist and not seeing any results, he turned to Google, which is where he discovered an Active Release Techniques practitioner. After just a couple of sessions, he was pretty much cured. And so began his interest in the bodywork industry. He quit his engineering job to pursue training in the Active Release Technique. Today, Julian owns Santa Rosa Pain and Performance where he integrates various modalities in his treatments.

  • As a practitioner, it’s easy to want to fit in and present yourself the same way you see other practitioners presenting themselves. However, differences are a good thing because they allow you to show up authentically in your business. When you understand what makes you unique, you will begin attracting the right people for you. This is why I believe so strongly in having a framework for your business. Your business will be more successful when you have a structure and processes in place. You can create frameworks for every aspect of your business.

In this episode, I talk about visual frameworks. I offer insight into how you can create your framework, how to use it, and when you can use it. I also talk about my program called The Client Champion Formula Masterclass and who it is for.

  • If you haven’t already, it is essential to define the core ideology for your business. Why? Because it’s like the foundation of a house and every part of your business is based upon your core ideology. Business owners without a core ideology often face some of the same problems. They may fall into a trap of simply trading time for dollars, they may not attract the right clients or staff, and they may pursue the wrong opportunities.

In this episode, I talk about why defining a core ideology for your business is so important. I share insight into knowing your why, and the impact that both defining your core ideology and not defining it can have on your business.

  • Despite popular belief, marketing is not about trying to sell. In fact, the best marketing is not gimmicky or sales-y at all. Since we are surrounded by marketing that is trying to sell, we often revert to this kind of marketing. But the truth is, it’s not effective. You can get better at marketing by understanding it better. When you begin to understand that marketing is how you find your people and build relationships with them, you will feel much more authentic doing it.

In this episode, I talk about what marketing really is and how it works. You can expect to learn the three guiding principles that will help you get better at marketing your business, learn about the Marketing Lifecycle Framework, and you will be on your way to more effective marketing.
