In a career spanning half a decade, you’d be forgiven in assuming what one could achieve in half a century would be significant given the time invested. However for Michael Goedhuis, getting started in the business of art at 30, within 12 years Michael would become the Director of the oldest commercial gallery in the world, establish records brokering some of the most significant deals before going on to create, create new markets and discover culturally and historically important collections and become the subject of a film. Michael’s career is a fascinating 50 year art-world adventure.

For almost half a century, Arnoldi-Livie has been dealing in European paintings, drawings and sculpture having placed numerous important works in major international museums and exhibits at TEFAF, Salon du Dessin and participates in London Art Week. Run by husband and wife team Bruce and Angelika, neither had visions or grand ideas of dealing in art were it not for their paths crossing as Art History students on a rainy November day in Munich in 1968.

With an illustrious history, founded in 1923 - and now in its 3rd generation - Didier Aaron exhibits at TEFAF, Fine Arts Paris, Frieze and the Salon du Dessin and participates in London Art Week. Focusing on French art from the 16th to 19th centuries, the gallery has placed works in institutions such as the National Gallery, the MET and numerous principal museums of France. 20 years ago, the gallery would go on to negotiate the sale of one of the most important old master works by Titian to the Getty Museum for more than 50 million dollars. With galleries in New York, London and Paris, today the business is overseen by Didier’s son and president Hervé who has been continuing the family legacy.

As a child growing up in Amsterdam, Mireille Mosler preferred to wait in the car on family outings to museums and galleries. When it came to choosing a career however, she knew she wanted to be an art dealer in America but not before figuring out how to get there. Stepping off a plane in 1992 for an internship with Christie’s, it was her first sale of a painting that would become the lifeline enabling her to stay and pursue her dream of dealing art in New York City.
