The final game of the season: we can hardly believe it! The Orlando Pride took on the Washington Spirit in a 1-0 victory with the goal from Barbra Banda. Our final Pride on the Pitch this season we highlight Carrie Lawerence of the Orlando Pride, and fiancee of Marta. What a power couple! And Pookie of the Week is a little different this week. Pookie this week is Marta's mother, who made the trip to see Marta play for the first time in the US.
This week for News You Can Use, we discuss Alyssa Naeher's retirement from international play and who we think we take on the role of #1 goalkeeper. We also discuss the recent findings from an investigation into CanadaXNT. Then, we make some early predictions for who will take home the championship next season. Will it be another team who didn't qualify for playoffs the year prior?

The NWSL and USWNT world is always full of excitement and surprises! The USWNT just released their roster for their upcoming friendlies against England and the Netherlands, and this roster has left many fans confused. But we will trust Emma Hayes until she gives us a reason not to we guess!
The Washington Spirit knocked out Gotham FC during a 3-0 penalty shootout after a late game equalizer from rookie Hal Hershfelt. The Orlando Pride will be their opponent after the Pride defeated golden boot winner Temwa Chawinga and the KC Current. Lianna and Vienna are split on who they think will take home the championship.
This week for Pride on the Pitch, Lianna and Vienna are highlighting the soon to be moms, Kristie Mewis and Sam Kerr. Both have had wonderful club and country careers, and we can't wait to see them enter their journey with motherhood.

Have you ever gone to an NWSL quarterfinal match and sat there for almsot three hours due to extra time but all the concessions closed during the 75th minute so now you're hangry but you walk 15 minutes for burger but the kitchen ran out of food so you go across the street and wait two hours for different burger? That was our hangry experience at the Washington Spirit quarterfinal against Bay FC! Don't worry it was pretty exhilarating until the waiting for two hours part.
This week for Pride on the Pitch we're highlighting Leicy Santos, Colombian International and midfielder for the Washington Spirit. We discuss her incredible career and advocacy work for the Colombian WNT, and her recent engagement! We have reset Pookie of the Week and it is now Pookie in Playoffs, and honor the incredible converted centerback, Tara McKeown, who scored the late game equalizer for Washington Spirit.
Congrats to the final four: Gotham FC, KC Current, Orlando Pride, and Washington Spirit! No one could've ever seen this final four coming. No one at all!

Everyone was feeling all the emotions this week, from the unexpected fight in the Washington Spirit vs Chicago Red Stars game, to Kelley O’Hara’s retirement ceremony. Plus, there were happy emotions for Chawinga making NWSL history, scoring against every opponent in a single season, and first time USWNT call ups for Emma Sears, Yazmeen Ryan, and Alyssa Malonson.
This week Lianna and Vienna are highlighting ACFC right back Merritt Mathias for Pride on the Pitch, in honor of her announcing her retirement. And who else for Pookie of the Week than Rose Lavelle who scored the game winner in their game against the Orlando Pride? Orlando’s losing streak reaches a record two games with a convincing win from Gotham FC.

Orlandos unbeaten streak is unexpectedly ended by the Portland Thorns, Houston Dash beat San Diego wave for the first time ever, Seattle fails to reach playoffs for the first time since 2017, Utah has a dominant win with the first hattrick of the season, Chawinga beats Sam Kerr’s scoring record, and Juan Carlos Amoros is sent off with a straight red card. Did we miss anything? This week was jam packed with chaos.
This week Lianna and Vienna are highlighting NC Courage Midfielder Meredith Speck for Pride on the Pitch, and learn about the history of the Western NY Flash in the process. And who else for Pookie of the Week than Cloé Lacasse who recorded the first hattrick of the NWSL season, all in the first half of the game.

Lianna and Vienna highlight Hannah Betfort for Pride on the Pitch this week, who has had a different path to the NWSL, and is one of this weeks goal scorers!
This week’s games were full of exciting goals and saves! Lianna and Vienna chose Esther for Pookie of the Week, for scoring a brace in Gotham’s dominant performance against Bay FC. Some sad news coming out of Washington Spirit this week is midfielder Andi Sullivan will be out for the remainder of the season due to an ACL tear. We’re sending all the best wishes her way! And of course, who else than the Orlando Pride take home the NWSL shield.

For Pride on the Pitch, they highlight Orlando Pride defender Carson Pickett, who has paved the way and advocated for more than just LGBT rights!

Lianna and Vienna’s predictions are a little different this week, meaning Lianna decided to pick the opposite team from Vienna five times... only time will tell who will be correct!
Big News You Can Use coming out of this week was the devastating news of Kelley O’Hara being placed on SEI and never seeing her play soccer again. NWSL history was made this weekend! Ashley Sanchez became the first player to score against every NWSL club! First she conquers the league... the world next? Amirah Ali also made San Diego wave history, scoring the fastest goal in club history in 27 seconds.
Pride on the Pitch we are highlighting Jess Fishlock, midfielder for Seattle Reign. She has had an amazing career in Seattle since 2013, and also represents Wales at the national level. Plus, for Pookie of the Week, we are spreading the love to Washington Spirit centerback Tara McKeown for her dazzling performance against Houston Dash.

So much soccer has occured this past week and we are here to unpack it all, from the quarter and semifinals of the Olympics, to the last group stage round leading into semifinals of the NWSL Summer cup!
This week's Pride in Paris features Ann-Katrin Berger. She is the phenomenal keeper for Gotham FC and the German WNT. She had an incredible penalty shoot out that sent Germany to the semifinals against the USWNT. This week's Pookie of the Week is none other than brickwall Alyssa Naeher. She has been a staple for the US throughout this Olypmic tournament, and seems to be having a good time too! Just big pookie energy basically. We love our goalkeepers!
We are so excited to see the USWNT go for gold against Brazil. This is not the gold medal match we would have predicted, but are so excited to tune in on Saturday at 11am eastern!

This weekend was an incredible bunch of games and goals. Notably, Mal Swanson and Ashley Sanchez continue their scoring streaks, and Rose Lavelle scores a beauty! The biggest game of the weekend was when KC Current met their match the Orlando Pride. Marta scored the game winning PK and celebrated their much deserved win, earning her Pookie of the Week! Congrats Marta and the rest of the Pride.
