Despite the victory of Donald Trump and Republicans in the last election, many Democrat state legislatures are pushing on with the radical progressive agenda. The latest legislation out of Colorado would strip parents of their rights if their child is declared transgender and criminalize the use of correct names and pronouns by businesses. Convenience stores lock an increasingly absurd number of products behind glass while shoplifters, thieves, and even murderers receive comically light sentences. Our ruling class members have willingly torched the credibility of the very institutions they rely on for legitimacy — all in pursuit of temporary political advantage. Journalist Douglas Murray and comedian Dave Smith recently appeared on an episode of Joe Rogan's podcast that set the internet ablaze. The two men debated their positions on the wars in Gaza and in Ukraine, but what was really striking was the position Murray took on expertise. For decades, the global liberal economic order has operated on the assumption that nations could stretch supply chains across the world to maximize efficiency and profit — with little risk. A shocking share of goods essential to U.S. national security are produced almost entirely in China — including antibiotics and components used in American military hardware. The idea that a country would rely on semiconductors from its primary geopolitical rival to launch a missile defies basic strategic logic. Yet, that is exactly what the United States has done.

A violent attack at a high school track meet has gained national attention after Karmelo Anthony allegedly stabbed fellow student Austin Metcalf to death. Metcalf's father, Jeff, issued a public statement of forgiveness for Anthony, despite the alleged murderer showing no remorse. Many people have also noted the racial dynamic between Anthony, who is black, and Austin, who was white, but Jeff Metcalf has encouraged the public to ignore this aspect of the attack. Do Christians have a duty to forgive someone who murders their child even if that person does not ask for forgiveness?

In a better world, people would cultivate virtue and develop habits of right action, practicing them regardless of external pressures. But we don’t live in that world. For most, concepts like honor and morality emerge from community, not individual will. These vital, pro-social behaviors rely on constant reinforcement by others. When daily life consists of anonymous, disconnected interactions, it becomes easier to justify selfishness. But when people must live among and depend on those who observe and remember how they behave, accountability shapes conduct.

A hacker recently breached the security of New York University and posted what the hacker claimed to be the admissions data for 2024. The alleged data reveals a wide disparity on SAT scores and GPA required based on race, with a clear preference against white and Asian students.
