We (Dr. Will and Anthony Manuele) have done 109 episodes of The Art of Move Podcast- a show that sought to seek the 'grand unified theory' of human movement and biomechanics. It explored ideas about functional fitness, fascia, feet, and fun stuff that others weren't having in depth conversations about, from the angles that we wanted to hear people talking about, but didn't find anywhere else.We attempted to bridge the gap of the 'in-fighting' in the alternative/progressive functional fitness space, tried to bring the innovative methods of coaches and systems to bigger audiences, and debated, digested, and discussed every angle we could find about the subject.Over the few years we ran the show, we met some incredible people, interviewed industry leaders, and learned a LOT about the human body ourselves. Our movement practices and physicality morphed and evolved as our perspectives did. We're both incredibly grateful for everything that we experienced, for all the connections we made, for all the ways the show helped us personally upgrade, and of course, all the beautiful messages from the audience who were taking the journey with us.As we wrap up this chapter of our personal journeys, we hope you enjoy this final 'wrap up' episode where we discuss what's next for us personally, what projects we're going to be working on, and how you can keep joining us for future conversations about movement and biomech. This isn't the last we'll be collaborating on shows; Anthony will continue to produce longform on the Peak Players Podcast, and Will is livestreaming on many subjects around movement, rehab, biomech and more. We'll be doing collaborative shows together regularly.Thank you dearly to everyone who supported the show, sent us feedback, connected with us personally, gave us suggestions for guests... we love you, and will forever be grateful for the community that grew around this show!

We were joined by one of our most HIGHLY requested guests, Joel Smith of JustFly Performance, and host of the JustFly Performance Podcast.

Our conversation delved deep into the mechanical nuances of movement, and the strategies/philosophies of how to train them therein. With an impressive resume of training professional athletes, and a passion for the biomechanical details of the human body, Joel delighted us with a passionate discussion that went deep in many places.

Elasticity? Progressive overload for functional movement? Body awareness, fascia, and shaking it out? The role of weightlifting and whether or not it can ACTUALLY screw up your movement?

    It's all in there.

By the end of this episode, we hope that you're able to walk away with some practical gold nuggets of information that you can inject directly into YOUR training and movement practice.

In this episode of The Art of Move, Anthony Manuele and Dr. William Rajbar discuss the nature of the mind, of the self, what it means to truly be authentic, and much, much more. Does intent implicate being? Does one's image and ego equate to one's character? And beyond that... what does all this have to do with movement?(Hint: everything and nothing)Other topics involve persuasion, coaching, metacognition, and how social structures impact our sense of self. Are you enjoying these types of conversation? In this episode, Will and I discuss the idea of intent as it pertains to being a driver of movement, then follow-up with a whole tirade of questions about where the origin of intent/consciousness actually arises. We explore materialism (the brain being a physical system in which consciousness arises) as well as more abstract ideas like the physicality of our system being more of a 'radio receiver' to a larger field of unified consciousness or source. This is far from a technical episode - more of a philosophical pontification - but we'd love to know your thoughts and where you think our ideas could be more refined by better information (hence why our ideas are 'In-Formation')Hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did...www.instagram.com/anthony.manuelewww.instagram.com/theartofmove

In this mind-bending episode of The Art of Move, we dive into the incredible world of quantum and circadian biology with the brilliant Carrie B (@carriebwellness )As a college athlete, supposedly at the pinnacle of health, Carrie began suffering chronic joint issues and insomnia. After her first child was born, she developed debilitating stomach pain, adrenal fatigue, and brain fog. Armed with a BS in Biology, an MS in Nutrition, and certifications as a personal trainer, massage therapist, and breathing coach, she still couldn't find the root of her issues. That's when she found quantum biology. Now, as an online educator, clinician, and faculty member of the Quantum Biology Collective and Kalamazoo College, Carrie's mission is to teach her clients how to create a healing environment by applying quantum health strategies around light, water, electrons, and mitochondrial support. Given these tools, clients who have spent years trying to improve their health—just as Carrie did—finally experience powerful healing and lasting benefits. To find Carrie's work:Website: https://www.carriebwellness.com/Online Courses: https://www.carriebwellness.com/storeOnline Community: https://www.carriebwellness.com/commu...Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/carriebwell...YouTube Channel: / @carriebwellness Quantum Biology Certification Course for Practitioners: https://www.circadiancertified.com/co...Let us know what you thought of this episode, and how you plan to apply the information to your own life!Catch us on IG:https://www.instagram.com/anthony.manuele https://www.instagram.com/theartofmove

In this episode, we continue our 'definitions of the fitness industry' series, and attempt to define two commonly thrown around terms that are interrelated: FLEXIBILITY and TENSEGRITY.

As always, we fully anticipate some GREAT contributions to the discussion that we already had; where were our definitions lacking?

In this episode, Dr. Will and I attempt to define fundamental terms that pop up in the fitness industry - we had a laundry list of jargon that we wanted to tackle, however, some of the definitions became so philosophically complex, and the tangents so juicy, that we had to pare it down to three very commonly used terms:-STRENGTH-CONDITIONING-STABILITYThese three words are common parlance amongst coaches and figureheads of the S&C world, but very seldom to people take the time to actually define what they MEAN when they say them. For the sake of clarity, in this new series, we attempt to create cohesive, clear definitions of what WE mean by them, contrasted against how the fitness industry might use them, and how the public might perceive them without any prior education. What terms would you like to hear us cover next?Let us know :)Follow on IG:www.instagram.com/anthony.manuelewww.instagram.com/theartofmove

In today's episode, we talk about the idea of fascia being an integral role in EVERYTHING movement related within the human body... but also how it's been appropriated as a marketing term to create a lot of hype without a lot of substantiation.Typically, strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches will dismiss fascia as an important variable (or a variable at all) worth considering. Some functional fitness fellas go whole hog in the other direction and insist that if you're not training your fascial fitness, then you're doomed to deal with destruction of your joints, and are booking a one-way ticket to snap city.As usual, we try to find the nuance in the middle, and also have a little bit of discussion related to:- What biomechanics taught us about life- What we're eating lately (and the nutritional failure that was my carnivore diet experiment)- What is a "flow state" and how do we access it?Follow us on Instagram:www.instagram.com/anthony.manuelewww.instagram.com/theartofmove

On The Art of Move Podcast Episode 96, we're joined by CEO and Founder of Functional Patterns, Naudi Aguilar, and coach from FP Santa Monica, Mike Mucciolo to discuss some "criticisms" (IE, unfounded ad hominem attacks) put forth by Layne Norton in a mini beef they had recently online.

The conversation poured over into the issues within the fitness industry as it pertains to the mainstream gym, physio, and rehab culture having resistance to looking into considering different/relevant variables pertaining to human movement.

We went EVERYWHERE in this conversation - some of the wildest and most juicy conversations about fitness culture, functional training approaches, and society at large were explored in this 2 hour odyssey. We hope you enjoy it!

I was fortunate enough to have a very cool conversation with Professor @bart-kay, one of the most well-studied academics and researchers I've met in the fields of nutrition and exercise science.

A few things we talked about:

    - Why carnivore diets make the most sense from an anthropological vantage point
    - How metabolism endogenously regulates glycogen/blood sugar levels when you're not eating exogenous carbs
    - Why carbohydrates and sugar is actually damaging to your body, and why the "pro-metabolic/Ray Peat enthusiast' crowd is misguided in their beliefs
    - How Paul Saladino screwed up his carnivore diet and why he believed he needed to start eating carbs again
    - The issues with leaning on academia and 'experts' for discerning truth
    - The responsibility as the consumer for understanding what's true and what isn't And many more valuable tidbits.

Dr Anthony Chaffee is an American medical doctor and Neurosurgical resident who, over a span of 20+ years, has researched the optimal nutrition for human performance and health. It is his assertion that most of the so-called chronic diseases we treat as doctors are caused by the food we eat, or don't eat, and can be reversed with dietary changes to a species specific diet.

On this episode, we tackled a lot of different topics ranging from why people in the carnivore diet community started eating carbs (is it too much liver/organ meat causing health issues?), thoughts on the pro-metabolic diet approaches influenced by the works of Dr. Ray Peat, is there an evolutionary basis for eating fruit or carbohydrates at all, and how the hell can you get so jacked eating nothing but meat?

He also gave me advice on how to transition to a carnivore diet (cold turkey baby! Bring on the coffee withdrawals) This is one of my favourite nutrition conversations to date, and I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Anthony for the generosity with his time. I'm sold Dr! I'm off to eat a #carnivorediet for the next 100 days :)

Devon Brown's One-of-a-Kind Fitness (www.instagram.com/oneofakind.fitness or www.oneofakind.fitness) is an expert in all things functional fitness, gait mechanics, and intelligent, innovative training solutions. Driven by the question "WHY", he relentlessly searched for his own answers about the optimal way to train a human body in relationship to its native mechanics. WHY do some athletes get injured? WHY does traditional strength training methods seem to create movement compensations? WHY do functional fitness systems get SOME results, but don't go all the way (to Devon's standards anyways)?

In this episode, Dr. Will and Anthony ask him detailed and nuanced questions, challenge assumptions, and go deep into exploring the mechanical reasoning of the One-of-a-Kind system.
