Today on the podcast we are joined by the wonderful Martin Sweeney who's joins us today to speak about support for men after a cancer diagnosis. Martin speaks about his own diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2015 and how the support recieved particularly from arc cancer support led him to becoming a group facilitator for men with prostate cancer and his involvement with the Irish cancer society public patient involvement panel and the work he does with the urology team in the mater hospital with the postpor programmes helps prepare men for a prostatectomy. Today we speak about some of the side effects experienced from prostate cancer treatment and how speaking these personal and intimate issues can central to people's treatment outcomes. We are so grateful to Martin for his time and wisdom and we hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did.

This week on the podcast we are joined by Dr Daniel Cagney to discuss Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer Patients .
Dr. Daniel Cagney is clinical director of radiation oncology at Mater Private Hospital, Dublin and network director of stereotactic radiation.
Dr. Cagney’s internship and general medical training was in the Mercy Hospital Cork and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. He did a year in medical oncology in Mater Hospital before commencing specialist training in radiation oncology in St Luke’s Hospital, Dublin. In parallel to his radiation oncology training, he received a MSc in oncology and palliative care from Newcastle University. His radiation oncology fellowship was in Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, Boston. He is a fellow of the Faculty of Radiologists of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FFR RCSI) and a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (DABR).
Since 2017 he has held several strategic positions at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, including consultant radiation oncologist, director of stereotactic radiation and director of MRI Guided Radiation Programme. He held the academic appointment of assistant professor at Harvard Medical School.

This week on the podcast we are joined by Mikel Ross to discuss metastatic breast cancer along with its advancements and treatments.
Mikel Ross, MSN, RN, AGPCNP-BC, OCN, CBCN is a board certified nurse practitioner on the breast medicine service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In this role, he collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver medical oncology care to people with breast cancer across the continuum of care.
In addition to patient care, he collaborates on many initiatives, including oral oncolytic adherence, proactive management of symptomatic patients, and most notably is the lead clinician for Memorial Sloan Kettering’s scalp cooling program, designed to limit chemotherapy induced hair loss. He has published articles on the topics of scalp cooling, oral medication adherence, and proactive management of patient symptoms in oncology practice. -

This week on the podcast we chat with Holly Jane Woods about her experience of being diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer at the age of 25. We first became aware of Holly's story when we saw her on irelandam. Firstly for anybody not following Holly on Instagram you need too! She is absolutely hilarious and honest, you are guaranteed to come away from her page feeling better. Holly is extremely honest with us about her cancer experience so far and she talks very openly about her treatment so far along with the highs and lows that she has faced as a result. We are truly grateful to Holly for speaking with us and we can't wait to follow her as tackles life in New York. Holly and her dad have raised alot of money for the oesophageal cancer fund who continue to raise awareness and support those affected by this disease.
