We will be joined by Paul Martin. Paul earned a degree in Public Policy Studies from Vanderbilt and a law degree from the University of Miami. He is admitted to practice law in Tennessee, Florida, and Texas. Paul currently works in the field of government relations. In September 2015, Paul published “Pivot Points: Creating A Culture Of Preparedness And Resiliency In America.” Paul examines the current state of the preparedness movement and suggests various strategies to inculcate a preparedness mindset into American culture. His first book, “Bracing for Impact: A Practical Guide for Preparing for Disaster,” came out in 2011. Bracing for Impact provides law firms and small businesses with practical guidance on developing disaster plans to improve workplace safety and business continuity after a disaster. On today's Coffee with Rich, we will be joined by Kerry “Kato” Murakami. Kerry “Kato” Murakami, the founder of Rectitude Training, LLC, is devoted to training law enforcement and the civilian defender. Kerry is a retired law enforcement officer from the State of Illinois and has spent all twenty eight years in the patrol division. He initially became a defensive tactics instructor and field training officer in 1995, a firearms instructor in 2003 and finally a scenario based instructor in 2014. As a martial artist, Kerry received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Professor Mark Vives of New Breed Training Center in 2019. As co-lead of his department’s scenario based training program and lead instructor of his department’s combatives club Kerry is able to use his skills to create, update, and implement training programs on the range and in the mat room. He has also consulted with outside law enforcement agencies on creating and updating training programs, including their agency's combatives/jiu-jitsu clubs. In early 2021 Rectitude Training, LLC became a preferred provider to Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA), one of the largest risk pools in the Chicagoland area. The goal is to increase frequency and consistency of Defensive Tactics/Combatives training while reducing Officer’s and suspect's injuries. JOIN US! T.C. Fuller is an experienced federal investigator and firearms trainer. He has spent his life carrying a firearm for the U.S. government. T.C. first served as an Army Infantry officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer, before leaving the Army to accept an appointment as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He spent the next 20 years working in all areas of investigative interest within the FBI, and served for several years as an instructor in the FBI’s Firearms Training Unit in Quantico, VA. T.C. holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, as well as a Masters of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. As a published writer, T.C. has written an innovative book on the topic of improving law enforcement deadly force training, as well as having written for several print magazines on the areas of law enforcement procedures, explosives, firearms and edged weapons. Among T.C.’s personal achievements, he has been awarded the U.S. Army’s highest peace-time award for heroism, the Soldier’s Medal. Previously, Mike was Chief Operating Officer, Director of Training and a Senior Instructor at the U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Ok. He was directly responsible for the development of all U.S.S.A. training programs. Prior to that as an employee of the Federal Government, Mike has served as the Branch Chief and Lead Instructor for the Firearms division with the Federal Air Marshal Service as well as a Senior Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). He has extensive formal training and experience in all phases of military and law enforcement training. Mike is a highly sought after tactical and competitive trainer and a high level performer on the competition handgun circuit. Currently a nationally ranked competitor on the practical handgun competition circuit, Seeklander has authored/produced instructional books, DVD’s and has developed hundreds of lesson plans specifically related to basic and advanced firearms training. As a local law enforcement officer with the Knox County Sherriff’s Department as well as the Knoxville Police Department mike worked in corrections as well as patrol and with the Organized Crime division. Their new book shares their personal, cold-case investigation into the attacks that occurred between September 11th and 12th, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya. Sarah Adams was an Intelligence Analyst and Targeter with the CIA. She also served as the Senior Advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Benghazi. Currently, she leads Department of Defense (DoD) research and development efforts to discover, incubate, and deliver innovative data-driven, technology-enabled solutions to answer complex national security challenges. Dave Benton has over 25 years of experience serving in specialized teams and leadership roles in the military, law enforcement, protective security, and the U.S. Government’s Intelligence Community. He was a member of the CIA's Global Response Staff (GRS) team that responded to the September 11th, 2012, terrorist attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. He rose through the ranks to Captain, with his last assignment being Acting Chief of Police before suffering an injury that led to his medical retirement in 2023. William is the recipient of the United States Coast Guard's Meritorious Public Safety Award, the Sausalito Police Department’s Blue Star and Life Saving Medals, the Marin County Police Officer’s Award for Heroic Action, and several other awards/commendations. He is a graduate of the FBI's National Academy and holds an Associates of Science Degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education, and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice specializing in Law Enforcement Management and Terrorism/Homeland Security. In addition to this work on leadership, William authored an article on leadership for the Police Executive Research Forum’s January/February 2012 newsletter and instructed at the FBI’s Rocky Mountain Command College and the 2023 International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference. Aqil is the founder and lead instructor of Citizens Safety Academy, a firearms training company in Middle Tennessee. His background as a firearms instructor started at age 12, teaching youth in his father’s gun club. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming both a police officer and a firearms instructor at the age of 22. He has been training civilians for over 30 years and training law enforcement for over 25. He is a past chairman of the Southern African Freelancers Association and is sought after as a speaker and debater on environmental issues at international conferences.
