For many students, b-school is a joint venture. On this episode we sit down with Alyssa Donovan and Jack Browning, who moved to Los Angeles from NYC for Jack to get his MBA. Alyssa and Jack share what they were looking for out of b-school and what sets Anderson apart when it comes to programming for partners. Fun fact: In addition to joining the Joint Ventures club, Anderson significant others ("Sig-Os") can serve on the boards of non-professional clubs!

Ew, David! In today's episode, Katie Schiff, John Lee, and Jodi Christensen talk Schitt's Creek and reminisce about favorite business lessons from the show. Was David right to do a soft launch for the Rose Apothecary? Could Johnny be effectively segmenting his customer base by renting rooms by the hour? Is it possible to plan a PR stunt like Alexis's premier for The Crows Have Eyes 3? We hope you'll agree that we created something truly winsome with this episode.
Best wishes and warmest regards,
The A Suite team

Originally from mainland China, Jack Du was a teacher in New Zealand prior to Anderson and is working on launching a language learning app. Vivek Mahadevan hails from Australia and is pivoting from a career as a lawyer to consulting. We hope you enjoy getting to know them as much as we have.

Today we're talking with the composer of our theme music about some of his creative pursuits, the value of being an expert vs. a jack of all trades, and how to manage stage fright. And we get silly trying to make music out of our core classes. Accounting = metronome?

WOOD BRICK SHEEP WHEAT ORE. It’s the game where you maximize your resource production, differentiate your business strategy, and defend against competition. Do those terms sound familiar? You must be a UCLA Anderson MBA student! Join us as we struggle to remember if they are discovery or development cards, reminisce on grudges held, and, most importantly, argue about the correct pronunciation of “Catan.”

💎🤲🚀 🚀 🚀 Strap in, we're going to the moon! Today we're talking with Professor Avanidhar "Subra" Subrahmanyam, Distinguished Professor of Finance here at UCLA Anderson and expert in stock market activity and behavioral finance, about the recent GME short squeeze. We get his perspective on what makes this event so historic, how to make sure you're getting sound financial advice, and what policies the SEC and Robinhood can consider to make sure the market stays free and fair. And if you love the episode and want to learn more, sign up for Professor Subra's Behavioral Finance elective in the spring!
"For the first time in history, the short squeeze was done by retail traders against institutions as opposed to institutions doing it to other institutions. It got a lot of us in finance just very excited because it was a momentous event, one for the history books. 100 years from now we'll be talking about Gamestop, just as we are talking about it now."

What do Harry Potter and business have in common? A lot, it turns out! Today the A Suite team got together to gush about our love for all things Harry Potter and to discuss how the Harry Potter books relate to the Ancona model of leadership we learned about in our Leadership Foundations class. Sneak peek: Hermione earns an "Excellent" on her MBA O.W.Ls. while Ron walks away with a "Troll."
"A great way to summarize the story is you’re reluctant to become that hero but you have to. And maybe in the work world you’re reluctant to be the leader, maybe it’s not natural for you to be in charge, but it’s what’s best for the team so you see it through.”
*A Note* We stand strongly opposed to the author's transphobic views. If we've learned anything from the books, it's that there is space and more for everyone in the world of Harry Potter, and we believe the stories belong to those who love and read them.
