  • It's time to get cheeky cheeky for the last time as the Cheeky Girls take their last bow on the UK top 40. Elsewhere in the pop music landscape, Jentina and Beverley Knight are flopping hard, Ashlee Simpson is getting humiliated on live TV and The Streets and Super Furry Animals are trying to see what they can get away with when it comes to drugs and swearing on the charts.

  • To all those people who say "OK, but why isn't there a straight pride"...here it is. This episode is for you. For some reason, on this week 20 years ago the music industry conspired to get every middle-aged man on their rosters to release music all in the same week, with only Alacazar left to offer any sort of gay counterpoint.

But it's still a great episode of the podcast reliving the pop music of the 2000s one UK top 40 singles chart at a time, with answers to the following questions:

Which Britpop star went to prison for threatening to chop an air hostess' hands off?Which eccentric 60s legend once bought 8 tonnes of sand?Which dance icon lived next door to Paul McCartney (who forced him to leave the country)?Which indie band started a fight with the entire town of Worthing? How many fun facts about Muse is too many?

  • Let's go, eskimo...Girls Aloud are back with Love Machine, a song that the band hated. And they're not the only ones who despise their own songs this week, as Joss Stone and Eric Prydz have also had very few words to say about their tracks either...

Also on this week's edition of the 2000s pop music podcast that's reliving the top 40 singles chart from this week years ago:

But will the results be more Robbie Williams or Louis Tomlinson (sorry Directioners)?
