Hello hello! Thank you so much for joining us for another episode of That Vet Podcast!
Baby Badger wearing a Dick Vet final year jacket Amy turned into a dog coat for a friend, once we graduated
In this episode we chat about our struggles navigating NHS prescription services and how they translate to pet owners. Plus the pros and cons of uniforms in the workplace, inspired by an Instagram post by Lou the Vet Nurse.
We are your approachable, relatable internet vet pals, chatting vet life, craft life, real life. Join us for free!
Amy wearing the old-school dentist-style consulting top in a previous job. Fi and Amy both agree that we don't enjoy this type of uniform!
Amy also shares her exciting plans for her 40th birthday - she’s off to the Chelsea Flower Show (the most middle class way to enter midlife? Who’s to say?)
Do you have strong feelings on workplace uniform? Same coloured scrubs for all, or different uniforms for clinical vs. non clinical team members? Should vets and nurses wear different things? Hit reply to this email to send us your thoughts, or join in the conversation over on Instagram!

Hello hello! Thanks so much for joining us for episode 13 of That Vet Podcast!
Fi is back from skiing, with some hair-raising tales to tell. Amy is overwhelmed with domestic tasks (relatable content for many of us I’m sure) and needs a pep talk. There’s always more on the to do list.

In this episode, we discuss some tips to save your clients’ money, whilst prioritising patient care and practicing a good standard of medicine. This feels particularly pertinent, with the final report published recently from the Competition & Markets Authority investigation into the veterinary industry.

Hello hello! Thanks so much for joining us for episode 12 of That Vet Podcast! Spring has sprung and the warmer days and longer evenings are definitely making us both feel more positive and joyful. The daffodils are up in Amy’s garden, and Fi is away on a family trip for the Easter holidays.
We’re here to be your relateable, approachable internet vet pals, chatting vet life, craft life, real life! Subscribe to get our podcast delivered for free to your inbox
Amy baked a cake for Easter, which was eaten by family so sadly none of it made it to work! Baking for your work mates is a lovely way to boost moral, if you don’t have a hoard of gannets at home to feed.
Below is a list of the wellbeing boosters we chat about in this episode.
* Taking flowers into work - reduced to clear daffodils, or flowers grown in your garden
* Sharing your home baking
* A ‘Little Free Library’ or ‘Swap Corner’ for books and other knick-knacks (ours includes puzzles and gift bags, from when clients bring in chocolates and biscuits)
* Asking about your colleagues’ personal lives e.g. remembering they have kids, or asking about their holidays
* Empathising with stressful or sad moments in their lives, in a way that makes them feel seen. Try to judge this in a way that won’t upset someone, or feel intrusive - perhaps an email might be better than an in-person discussion for some people
* Noticing little things that can help improve someone’s life - a broken watch strap you can replace for example
* Buying communal milk
* Offering to make tea and coffee
* Picking up someone’s work or caseload when they’re away, so they don’t come back from sickness or holiday to a mountain of work to catch up

Hello hello! Thanks so much for joining us for episode 11 of That Vet Podcast. It’s a bit of an emotional subject we’re discussing today, around euthanasia when you disagree that it’s the best outcome for the pet.

We’re planning on turning this theme into a recurring segment on the podcast, where we hope to interview or chat with people in the process of applying, folks who didn’t get in (what did you do instead?) or people involved in the admissions process, like school teachers and university professors. If any of that strikes a chord with you, hit reply to this email and let us know!

Fiona in her natural environment of greenery and handknits
In our real lives away from work, we are both heavily into crafting, specifically knitting and sewing. We both love to make our own clothes, and then talk about it. Sewing animals and sewing clothes. And thus, this podcast was born!

In this episode we chat about car snacks, sewing projects and our clinical discussion is about how to handle ‘difficult’ clients, including why Fi doesn’t like the term ‘difficult’.
