Have you ever wondered what it actually takes to make a beauty product? Or how much it’s even tested before it hits shelves? Does the cost of a product really correlate with tis efficacy? Maybe you’ve even considered starting your own beauty brand? When it comes to beauty, our eyes are a major focus. But something that we might not consider when we’re applying our mascara or lying on the treatment bed waiting for our lash lift to set is the health of our eyes and what impact primping and prettying them could have long-term. So, today we're bringing in an expert who knows both sides of the story – Dr. Alexa Hecht, a Toronto-based optometrist who's also super knowledgeable about beauty.
Plus, a hair routine to combat hair loss and promote hair growth, why we all should be wearing shower caps and of course our beauty MVPs - a “healthier” dry shampoo and a nourishing pre-wash scalp oil.

When we talk about beauty and ageing, we often think about our skin, but how often do you think about hair ageing? In this week’s ep, we’re joined by Dr Leona Yip, dermatologist and Alopecia specialist (with a very impressive resume, btw) about hair ageing beyond greying, the major causes - and the biggest one - is there anything we can do to prevent or reverse the effects. (And yes, we did ask her if that myth about plucking grey hairs is true).
Also in this ep - why you may not need to rule out retinol during pregnancy/breastfeeding, a favourite (and we think underrated) winter skin ingredient, and a big thank you to you guy.

Historically, sunscreen has had a pretty daggy reputation. Until brands like Ultra Violette completely changed the game with sophisticated formulations, making slip slop and slappin' on a SPF commonplace in our skincare routines. But what if you're still unable to find a sunscreen you like...Or you're still not quite convinced you need to wear one everyday (even in winter)... Or maybe you're applying one in the morning and wondering if you should be reapplying at some point. Well, we discuss all this and so much more in our chat with the one of the clever brains behind Ultra Violette, Ava Chandler-Matthews.
And we have our MVPs - a lightweight and refreshing facial mist and a hero concealer, plus a solution for anyone who just wants ONE do-it-all serum in their skincare routine.
Lastly, thank you dear listeners for tuning into another season of our podcast! We'll be back for season 10!
