Alexis was one of my faculty instructors while I did my residency training at this hospital. She was always committed to teaching and making sure her residents learn something every day. I learned a great deal from her during my time there. We get into her unique teaching methods, hands on learning, growing up with physician parents, and the changes we see in medical education. My thank you note to her is for her commitment to hands on teaching to everyone from medical students to residents to fellows. She is unanimously loved and respected by everyone at the hospital. Alexis writes a thank you note to her parents and husband for their support and encouragement in every facet of her life. We end the episode with her advice to anyone considering a career in Anesthesiology. Email the show: [email protected] Send a Text or leave a Voicemail 469-609-7136 Instagram @thankyounotespod  Facebook.com/thankyounotespod TikTok @thankyounotespod --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thankyounotespod/message

  • My guest is Jacob Givens. He is a comedian, actor, writer, and more who currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. He started making videos during the pandemic to show his appreciation for the music from his formative years. After posting videos about Nirvana and Radiohead on Tik Tok, he quickly became a viral sensation. He was featured in Spin Magazine, and even attracted the attention of the very musicians he was celebrating. A few years later, the all powerful algorithm brings his videos to my feed and I'm instantly hooked. After delving into his podcast Waterproof Records, I learned that he and I both came from Tulsa, OK and are about the same age. I reached out to him on Instagram, and he graciously agreed to appear on the show. We talk about his journey from OK to IL to CA, his experience trying to get into Hollywood, how he became a viral sensation, the music that changed his life, and trying to get your kids to like the music you do. My thank you note to him is for showing the world how great 90's alternative rock is. His videos encourage everyone that sees them to embrace what you love and not to dwell on the things that you don't. Jacob closes the show with a touching letter to his brother, who sparked his love of music way back when in Tulsa. Check out Jacob on Instagram @jacobgivens and TikTok @thejacobgivens His Spotify account is awesome too. He makes killer playlists. • Welcome to Season 2 of the Thank You Notes Podcast.

My guest is Mark Malaby. He was my Language and Composition teacher at Cascia Hall high school in Tulsa, OK. We talk about his teaching process (or rather lack thereof), the toils and troubles of high school, and share a few book recommendations.
I thank Mr. Malaby for creating a class that was built upon pushing the students out of their comfort zones. Surviving that class made me feel like I could tackle anything that was put in my way for the rest of my academic career.
Mr. Malaby wrote a thank you note to 3 of his mentors who saved him from personal and professional ruin throughout his career. The guidance these men gave him allowed Mark to become the teacher he was always meant to be.
We end the pod talking about his dream job, which he currently holds, as the director of the McPherson County Learning Center in McPherson, KS. He helps people who have struggled in the past obtain their high school diploma later in life through "trauma informed" teaching.
Mr. Malaby recommended the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss
I recommended Finding Ultra by Rick Roll
