The suburbs of Frisco, Texas became the backdrop for a chilling murder when Anna Moses, a Russian-born analyst at the University of Texas Dallas, was found shot six times in her garage after failing to show up for work in January 2015. What first appeared to be a robbery gone wrong revealed itself as something far more deliberate.
Anna's divorce from Robert "Bob" Moses two years prior had seemingly set her free. She maintained her home, excelled in her career, and was building meaningful connections—romantic and otherwise—at her workplace. But when police discovered a locked letter written in both Russian and English detailing threats made by her ex-husband, the investigation took a dramatic turn.
What makes this case particularly fascinating is the constellation of relationships surrounding Anna. From the professor who had given her $46,000 to multiple male admirers who were shocked to learn about each other at her memorial service, Anna lived a compartmentalized life that became fully exposed only in death. Meanwhile, her 20-year-old son Igor's unusually calm reaction to his mother's murder raised eyebrows, especially when he later became the star witness defending his adoptive father at trial.
The physical evidence painted a compelling picture: Bob's fresh hand injury, his blood mixed with Anna's in her recovered vehicle, and his unexpected inquiries about her will and insurance policy. But nothing in this case was straightforward. The mysterious missing Taco Bell quesadilla became a central point of contention, potentially disrupting the prosecution's timeline and Bob's guilt.
Despite maintaining his innocence and a vigorous defense, Robert Moses was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Was justice served, or did investigators miss something crucial in their focus on the scorned ex-husband? Listen as we unravel this Texas tragedy where blood ties, financial motives, and broken hearts converge in unexpected ways.

When neighbors felt the walls of their Chicago apartment growing hot on a summer night in 2018, they knew something was terribly wrong. Behind those walls, 38-year-old bartender and mother of three T'Anda Hall lay beaten and dying as flames began consuming her bedroom — the tragic culmination of what had started as a friendly card game hours earlier.
T'Anda had recently met Wes Arnold, a man whose violent history remained hidden from her until it was too late. Friends who'd been playing cards with them that evening described Arnold growing increasingly agitated, particularly when money from T'Anda's "Rainy Day Fund" went missing. Sensing danger, they left. Minutes later, neighbors heard running footsteps down the stairwell.
The investigation revealed a pattern all too familiar in cases of domestic violence. Arnold, on parole for battery at the time, had an extensive history of abusing women — so severe that even his own family refused to shelter him. Security footage, witness testimony, and forensic evidence painted a clear picture of what happened after T'Anda's friends departed: a brutal beating followed by arson meant to cover his tracks. Most disturbing was the medical examiner's finding that T'Anda had smoke in her lungs, meaning she was still alive when Arnold set the fire.
While evading capture, Arnold's violence continued. He assaulted another woman who had briefly given him shelter, leaving her with 17 stitches. This pattern of escalating violence ultimately led to his conviction and life sentence plus 50 years for arson.
T'Anda's story serves as a haunting reminder of how quickly violence can escalate and the importance of recognizing warning signs in potentially dangerous relationships. Through our exploration of this case, we honor her memory while examining the factors that led to this preventable tragedy.
Have you witnessed warning signs in a friend's relationship? Sharing your story might help others recognize dangerous situations before they escalate. This week, we enjoyed a delicious selection from Robert Clay Vineyards. The 2017 Texas Hill Country Ruby Cabernet is a mellow, long-aged wine with unique aromas and flavors of maple, brown sugar and vanilla bean, but bone dry and medium bodied with rounded tannins. Absolutely phenomenal.

The summer of 1986 in Lake Worth, Texas should have been like any other – locals cooling off at the lake, hanging out at what they called "the beach," enjoying cold beers in the hot Texas sun. Instead, it became the setting for a murder that would remain unsolved for over two decades.
Lloyd Tobin was the kind of person everyone wanted in their corner – a 30-year-old bouncer described by friends and family as loyal, friendly, and protective. As a father, brother, and son, he worked hard at the local bar and was known for making people feel safe. In a cruel twist of fate, it was this protective instinct that would ultimately cost him his life on that fateful day in 1986.
While hanging out at Lake Worth's makeshift beach area, Lloyd noticed a suspicious man approaching young people. Being the protector he naturally was, Lloyd confronted the stranger, telling him to leave the kids alone. What happened next would shock the community – the man returned with a shotgun and fired a single shot at Lloyd before fleeing through the brush in a bright orange hatchback. Despite witnesses hearing the shot and glimpsing the suspect, the case eventually went cold, leaving Lloyd's desperate family to conduct their own investigation as official leads dried up.
The breakthrough came from the most unexpected source in 2009 – a letter sent to the Fort Worth Cold Case Unit from prison inmate Billy Wallace, who was already serving life for other violent crimes. In a surprising twist, Wallace confessed not only to Lloyd's murder but to multiple other unsolved crimes throughout the region. His detailed account of confronting Lloyd at the lake, returning with a shotgun when told to leave, and fleeing in the orange car that witnesses had described decades earlier finally brought closure to a case that might otherwise never have been solved.
This episode reminds us of the random nature of violence, the dedication of cold case detectives, and the lingering question: how many killers take their secrets to the grave?Magic Mind

Caleb Harris disappeared on March 4th, and his body was found over three months later on June 24th. His badly decomposed body was found in a sewage system, that had been previously searched. It wasn't until the tropical storm hit the city, and that's when Caleb's remains were discovered.
What we don't know is how did Caleb end up underground in the wastewater system. Did he fall? Was he being his adventurous self and exploring when there was an accident? A partially covered manhole was discovered 600 feet from where Caleb took the foggy bridge picture. Does that manhole have something to do with his disappearance? Or, did he meetup with someone and was murdered.
It seems the family and police feel differently at the moment about what might have happened to Caleb. Randy, his father, does not hide the fact that he believes someone murdered his son. The police, they believe this was a terrible accident and he might have fallen down the partially covered manhole.www.texaswineandtruecrime.com
