Cade Clason has been a fixture in 450 Supercross main events for well over a decade now, and the privateer standout announced his retirement from professional racing a couple of months ago, just before the Salt Lake Supercross series finale. The Salt Lake City main event marked the 70th main event of Clason's career, and he joined us at Whistler Bike Park in British Columbia for a special vacation edition of the 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast.

Off-weekend podcasts are sometimes the most fun, as we get to flap our lips about what we choose to! This week on the Kickstart Podcast by Maxxis, we recap what we know about the X-Games Best Whip and Best Trick events that went on last weekend in Sacramento, and talk about the new developments in the silly season game of musical chairs. Also, do you wash your motocross gloves every ride? How about your helmet liner? Comment below! haha!

A couple of weeks ago, a post on Travis Pastrana's Instagram caught our attention, in which Dana White phoned up the action sports hero and said that he had gotten clearance for Pastrana to jump his dirt bike over the WHite House lawn. Over the next few days, posts from other heroes of moto began to surface... When Jeremy McGrath showed up tp jump ramps at Twitch's house, we knew something really big was happening!
Unless you've been living in a cave, you should already know that Pastrana, McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Keith Sayers, Brian Deegan, and Jeremy Stenberg all got to jump the White House lawn in the "Freedom Jump" exhibition held as part of the UFC Freedom 250 festivities celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
We caught up with Pastrana to find out just how crazy it was to get such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in this installment of the 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast!

Round four of the 2026 Pro Motocross Nationals saw some surprising results, with big brother Hunter Lawrence turning the tables on Jettson and sweeping both 450 motos, and Eastern Division 250 Supercross Champion Cole Davies turning in a perfect day in the 250 class to earn his first-ever National win. ARay and Chase review everything that went down at High Point in this week's Kickstart Podcast, presented by Maxxis.

Round three of the Pro Motocross National Championship Series headed up to Thunder Valley MX, and American race fans were treated to a visit from the Coenen brothers from Belgium, who definitely made a statement with their performances in Colorado. Chase Curtis was on the scene last weekend and was able to gather lots of insight from the event to share with us today on the Kickstart Podcast by Maxxis Tires.

Last weekend's race at Prairie City OHV Park was awesome! The Hangtown Motocross Classic is one of our favorites to attend, as the Dirt Diggers MC does an amazing job of promoting the second round of the Pro Motocross Championship series. Donn and Dommer made the drive to NorCal to cover the race, and although they missed the ghost ride in the Kawasaki pits, they saw just about everything else! Had a great time in this week's review show. Enjoy!

The 2026 Pro Motocross Nationals got underway last weekend at Fox Raceway, and the race delivered results that were both surprising and exciting! Hunter Lawrence made a big statement with his dominant performance in the 450 class, and Seth Hammaker enjoyed a breakout ride that saw him make his MX podium debut with a win! We go through everything from last weekend in this week's show, and it was a blast!

If the name Bob Rathkamp doesn't ring a bell, perhaps the brands Axo Sport America, Sinisalo Pacific, or Gaerne North America might. Rathkamp moved to California from his home in Minnesota when a job with O'Neal Distribution presented the opportunity to escape the harsh winters and enjoy year-round riding. Soon enough, he joined his good friend Jim Hale at Axo Sport America, and later took over the North American import and distribution duties for Sinisalo from Finland, and also Gaerne from Italy. Bob and I first met in the early 1990s when I was an assistant editor at Cycle News, and in this installment of the 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast, we recall many of the great times and products of the past three decades...

Last weekend, we were again reminded of how cool Glen Helen Raceway can be when it's prepped for a top-level motocross race, as the Motofest took over the facility for four days for a ton of racing that included the Friday Stopwatch Nationals, the Saturday 250 and 450 Showcase races, and a round of the NGPC Series and the Great Escape Dual-Sport Ride on Sunday. SLR Honda's Justin Rodbell earned a cool $7000 over two days of racing and he joined us on the show to talk about the event, the track, and the upcoming Summer of Rodbell II.

This is the audio from our FMF Racing Checking in with Larry Brooks, posted on swapmotolive.com
Earlier this year, HEP Suzuki Team Manager Larry Brooks was diagnosed with colon cancer and was forced to step away from racing. Still, we saw Ken Roczen on FaceTime with LB after each of his race wins, and it was obvious that, though the team leader was not on hand, he was still very much a part of the effort. We were pleased to see Larry in Salt Lake City yesterday, and overjoyed when he shared the news that he was 100% cancer free after three months of treatment. He still has more chemotherapy on the horizon to shrink the tumor before it can be removed, but the fact remains that he is healthy!

We've said multiple times this season that the previous weekend's race was "the best of the year!", but there is no denying that the season finale inside Rice-Eccles Stadium was the absolute barn burner! The electricity inside the stadium was unreal, and the sold-out crowd was treated to two amazing main events. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few days, you already know that Ken Roczen and the HEP Suzuki team pulled off the first 450 SX Championship for Suzuki since 2010, and that Cole Davies earned a hard-fought win in the Dave Coombs Sr., 250 East vs. West Shootout. We chat about all of that and more on this week's Kickstart Podcast by Maxxis!

Cole Townsend turned his love for motocross into a career, and his journey with Fasst Co. has been an interesting one, as he and his family have created and marketed unique, original products that are made in the United States. I have known Cole since we were both racing local Southern California CMC events, and watching Fasst Co. grow through the years has been exciting. It was great to catch up with Cole and get the stories behind all of the great products that Fasst Co. makes!

Let's be real here...did we have our first snoozer of a race in 2026? Sure, in comparison to the edge-of-your-seat races of the parst few weekends, the runaway performances turned in by Haiden Deegan in the 250 Western Division main and Hunter Lawrence in the 450 main on Empower Field inside Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado, were quite boring. Still, the stage is set for two great races this weekend in Salt Lake City, where the 450 title will come down to a winner-take-all affair between Ken Roczen and Hunter Lawrence, and Haiden Deegan will try to destroy the competition in what will be his last 250 Supercross. Who do you have?

This is the audio from the Race Tech Editors' Column...
I think that I have gotten many of my best qualities from my mom and dad. Mom was a great writer, and my dad was a hard worker who was one of the most creative people around. There are, however, things that my older brothers and I inherited from them that are not so desirable, like high blood pressure and high cholesterol. While both of my big brothers have had to have open-heart surgery, I believed that I could beat the genetic course with hard work and clean living. I discovered mountain biking a dozen years ago, and I honestly thought that my secondary two-wheeled obsession would keep all of those important measurable levels on the right side of the scales. Boy, was I wrong. While some of you may have had better luck than me, I got a massive wake-up call last weekend that saw me hospitalized after a trip to the emergency room with a lethally high blood pressure spike that literally could have killed me. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday, some five days later, with a stent in my heart and four new prescriptions. To be honest, I never really get scared when I find myself in the ER with cuts, scrapes, bruises, or broken bones, (ok ok, the broken neck in 2020 was pretty concerning...), but knowing that my body was failing me a few days ago really frightened me. It'c crazy how quickly word-of-mouth can spread, and it's been humbling to see how many friends, industry co-workers, and SML viewers have reached out by phone, text, e-mail, and DMs. Yesterday, I gathered my thoughts and shared my experiences, thoughts, and fears in this episode of Race Tech Editors' Column. I'm sure most of you will be bored or think I'm being overly emo, but in case anyone is interested, here's my story. If you have had a similar experience or have any advice for me, please share it in the comments! Thank you all for supporting the content that Chase and I create! - swap

Press play to listen to this week's Kickstart Podcast, where Alex Ray and Chase Curtis breakdown Philadelphia and discuss numerous topics before the final two rounds of the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross series take place. We discuss everything from Chase Sexton and Kawasaki's continued struggles, how Cole Davies securing the Championship has an affect on 450 silly season, Ken Roczen's incredible story, the chances of seeing Eli Tomac back on the starting line this weekend, and more!

We stopped by the 6D Helmets offices yesterday to sit down with President Bob Weber to share our impressions and opinions about the new Max Goggle after spending the past month riding in nothing else. The oversized goggle rests only on your nose and cheeks inside the helmet, and the rest of the goggle frame is mated to the helmet's eyeport. The result is an oversized goggle lens with a massive field of vision, but that's not why Weber and his team conceptualized the goggle initially. Listen in for an interesting conversation about a very different motocross product.

The final Triple Crown of the series went down in Cleveland, Ohio, last weekend, and the 450 championship was literally blown wide open. With only three rounds left, we have the tightest premier class championship battle in the history of the sport, with Hunter Lawrence and Ken Roczen separated by only a single point. Tragically, Eli Tomac's championship hopes came to an end with a crash in the whoops during the first qualifying session, as he banged up his hip badly enough that he was unable to carry on. Our Editor at Large, Kellen Brauer, joins us on today's Kickstart Podcast to add extra insight to this week's show! Enjoy!
