  • Reclaiming Your Agency After Trauma: The Critical Thinking Shift That Changed Everything in SurvivalThere comes a point in healing when the goal is no longer just surviving what happened—it's learning how to think beyond it.Trauma has a way of narrowing our thinking. In moments of fear, uncertainty, or overwhelm, we're simply doing the best we can with the information and capacity we have. Looking back with perfect hindsight isn't fair to the version of ourselves that was just trying to make it through. In this week's video, I share a personal breakthrough about how critical thinking can help us separate the emotional charge of our experiences from the decisions we need to make today. That's where repair begins. That's where we stop defining ourselves by what happened and start reclaiming our power.Healing isn't about pretending the past didn't happen. It's about learning how to move forward without letting it continue to make your choices for you.🎥 Link in bio.I'd love to hear from you: Have you ever had a moment where you realized you were finally ready to stop surviving and start rebuilding?0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 20:15 Reclaim Your Power20:15 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! • How Critical Thinking Shapes Your Adaptability: A VUCA Framework Guide Worth LearningThe digital era is a world defined by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA). This makes critical thinking the foundation that allows us to adapt and thrive. In this video, I break down the VUCA framework and show how sharpening your critical thinking skills can help you navigate uncertainty, make better decisions, and build confidence in any environment. It's by taking the acronym and focus on demonstrating their opposites. • From Compliance to Critical Thinking - Owning Your Learning & Development Journey What schooling does well, is provide the baseline skills to transition into the job market. This means schools focus on teaching you what to think, rather than the more involved and more complex insight in how to think. We finish highschool having a good sense on how to perform, which means how to excel in predicable and stable settings. As AI is enabling industries by managing computational, rote, and repetitive tasks, the shift in education means bridging the gap from being good at taking instructions, to having the critical thinking to create the roadmap. These are two very different skill sets, and in order to stay competitive in an evolving job market, we need to understand that difference, and be willing to cultivate the mastery required to have our ideas be the value that we bring to the job markets that we're competing in.My point can be summed up by answering the following question: What ways did school not prepare you for what adulthood demanded? • Different Ways to Protect Yourself from Danger and Find Safety in Unsafe Circumstances We are continuing the conversation on ways to create and establish situational awareness. Why? Because if there are experiences that we can help prevent each other from happening, then we ought to share those experiences with one another. So many of us "wish we knew better" than what we did at the time that we were subjected to a situation or a circumstance where, hindsight makes us feel like we could have done things differently. We didn't know then, what we learn through the experience... but we can all be a little more cautious and a little more aware, if we learn from one another. Not everything needs to be learned firsthand... and there are certain things that if we can do some small thing to prevent it from happening to anyone... even if that means posting a video, why not?#situationalawareness #stayingsafe #safetytips 0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 12:15 What Would You Do to Protect Yourself?12:15 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! • What Would You Do to Protect Yourself from Danger? Part I - Small shifts that could save your life I don't understand why this question feels uncomfortable... but it does. None of us want to see ourselves as living realities that involve needing to safeguard ourselves from harm. But statistics don't lie, and while the degree by which you are exposed to violence can be dependent on several factors, sometimes it just drills down to being at the wrong place at the wrong time.Does that mean lights out? Or do you protect yourself? We don't need a black belt in a form of martial arts to increase our chances of surviving things that few of us talk about... but at the very least, it's something we should think about... and mentally and emotionally prepare ourselves to face, before we come to face with it.#situationalawareness #stayingsafe #safetytips 0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 12:15 What Would You Do to Protect Yourself?12:15 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! • Why it Pays Off to Be Patient When Life Makes You to Wait Things Out One thing that I can say that feels better than instant gratification is the feeling of accomplishment for a goal that was hard won.Whether it's personal or professional, if it involves challenge, if you find yourself needing to be resilient, adaptive, and responsive to be able to keep the needle moving on progress... no win feels better. While sometimes I entertain the idea that an easier path would be something I would enjoy or appreciate, the truth is without a smidgen of difficulty I find myself seeking out novelty.Embrace the challenge and embrace the difficulty. Do not be deterred or dissuaded by the roadblocks and blindspots, they are part of what make the pursuit worthwhile.Patience will get you further than any other virtue in that respect. • From Chaos to Clarity - Getting Clear About Life Choices that Matter Most in Your Life We are quick to underrate the value of clarity in our lives. We call reckless decisions adventure and champion those who, "Go with the Flow." That said, much of sound judgment involves thinking critically. Thinking critically involves seeking clarity. We'll never fully have all of the information at our disposal to make the best possible decision, but we should at the very least try to gather as much insight as possible, and reserve judgment until we have evidence from which to base our confidence. Why?Because clarity will keep you from the pitfalls that are better left avoided. • Stop Being Reactive and Master the Art of Being Responsive when Dealing with Modern Day Triggers It's hard not to react to the things that really get under our skin. While the immediate urge might be to lash out and give in to the impulse your emotions are pushing you towards, often what will serve you in the long term is responsiveness. When you give yourself the space to master your emotions and be deliberate in how you communicate and how you proceed when you're feeling particularly triggered. We do not need to be slaves to our emotions, we are not our emotions -- even though some of you might disagree. • If You Do These 3 Things you Have a Growth Mindset and May Not Even Know ItLately, I feel like saying that you have a "Growth Mindset" seems to be quite the trend. Everyone wants to talk the talk, but what does it mean to walk that walk?I believe there are a few fundamentals in establishing yourself as someone who says that they value growth over static thinking. It means shedding a lot of limiting beliefs and conditioning that keeps the majority of us playing small. The key factor in establishing a growth mindset is that it's not just a nice thing you say to otherwise, in embracing this philosophy, you feel liberated yourself. Rather than just speak to the ideal, it's worth living it and trying to incorporate it for yourself.#mindsetmatters #mindset #growth #mentality 0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 14:35 When there's no way to be certain14:35 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! • What to do When There's No Way to Be Certain - Choosing the Best with What You Know and AdaptingUncertainty is no one's friend.I have never met anyone who considers uncertainty with excitement and anticipation. At best, you learn to embrace it and roll with the punches. Developing the skills required to be responsive, adaptive, and to rise above, regardless. At worst, it completely beats the heck out of you and you find yourself paralyzed by "the need to know.'Let me be the first to break you out of that anxiety spiral. We all have lived our lives not knowing much. Even those of us who have pursued experience, education, and evolution. There is only so much you can fit in an average lifespan of 70-80 years. We are living in unprecedented times. What you can do is give yourself the skills and the wherewithal to show up and to do your best. That's all life ever asks of us, is our best with what we know. • Embracing Uncertainty as a Constant and Resisting the Urge to Self-Sabotage in the ProcessMany of us can be open and honest about how much we dislike uncertainty. Knowing often feels better than not knowing.Waiting for an answer to arrive, without knowing when, where, why, how, or what can be an agonizing experience. Despite the emotional disruption that we can feel at times, uncertainty is a necessary part of life. We can't know everything there is to know about the world around us, just as much as we don't always even fully grasp our own becoming. That said, those who master the battle and inner struggle that can arise from uncertainty, are those who can find understanding in what they do know, and make the best of the situation despite what they aren't yet sure of.Life is about expected the unexpected.Better to find ways to come to terms with the path you're on, trusting that what you need to know, you'll learn in due time.#relationships #encounters #becoming #growth0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 12:30 Embracing Uncertainty as a Constant12:30 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! • How the People You Know Inform Your Sense of Becoming But You Choose if it's for Better or WorseEverything and everyone that you meet during the course of your life informs your sense of becoming. While you get to decide if whether their influence is a positive or a negative one, I don't believe any encounter is accidental.More specifically, I think there are four profiles of individuals that general translate as pivotal moments in our growth and healing journey. These are the people who represent hope for the things we have been pushing towards or praying for, the people who serve as lessons (sometimes painful) that inform who we want to be and how we want to show up, the people who serve as warnings, as well as the people who represent a certain degree of consequence for the things we thought we got away with. While some of these people we remember fondly and others not so much, I think it's important to recognize our own becoming as a result of these encounters, and feel grateful that in all cases when we know better, we're empowered to do better.#relationships #encounters #becoming #growth0:00 - 1:30 - Introduction1:30 - 20:30 How the People You Know Inform Your Sense of Becoming20:30 - Wrap Up*RESOURCES*For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs! They interact with the shifts and changes in our personal lives and in the larger socio-political dynamics that we find ourselves in.
