  • Justin sits down with James Hamilton, founder of Dubble and a software engineer by trade, to unpack clipping, the fastest rising strategy in digital advertising.

Clipping takes one long piece of content and turns it into hundreds of short clips that flood every feed.

A million views for a few thousand dollars instead of a Super Bowl spot for millions. James explains how the model works, how brands like Stake built empires on it, and why volume plus data beats one perfect ad every time. Then the real debate. Can AI do this yet?

The answer is sharper than you think. AI is unstoppable at linear content and finds key moments in seconds. But curation, taste, and the emotional throughput that makes a stranger stop scrolling still belong to humans. The last mile stays human. They also get into 20x engineering output with agents, why judgment beats speed, how Netflix engineers your attention, and how to ride a trend instead of trying to move culture alone.

    Topics covered:

    - What clipping actually is

    - Billboard marketing for the digital age

    - Why AI cannot curate

    - 20x output with AI agents

    - Finding trending opportunities

    - Netflix and the science of attention

  • The game is already over. You just do not realize it yet.

In this episode of CTO Confidential, Mike Rispoli sits down with Jim Kitchen, a fractional CPTO with three decades of experience building hardware, shipping standards, and managing successful exits. Jim has been in the trenches since 1998, working in telecom infrastructure, creating the TR-69 standard that still powers broadband provisioning, and co-founding the Matter IoT standard that now has over 900 companies involved.

We dig into how standards and infrastructure shape entire industries. Jim shares the pattern he has seen repeatedly: an innovation arrives, infrastructure catches up slowly, and then suddenly everything flips. It happened with broadband. It happened with home security. It is happening right now with AI and renewable energy.

The conversation spans electric vehicles (the game is already over), battery swap technology, why Texas is quietly leading the renewable energy revolution, and what it means to build orchestration tools in an industry still finding its footing.

Jim breaks down the fractional CPTO challenge: balancing product vision and technology delivery in organizations where those functions have collapsed. He also addresses the real crisis happening now: teams shipping features three times faster than they used to, breaking every downstream process from product planning to sales enablement to customer support.

This is a conversation about fundamentals, generalism, and keeping your hands on the tools even as technology accelerates.

What we cover:Origin story: Telecom, TR-69 standard, 75 million home activationsHome security innovation in an industry frozen since the 1980sBuilding ecosystems and the power of standardsMatter IoT standard and removing friction from consumer choiceWhy walled gardens ultimately lose to open systemsThe infrastructure lag: when innovation outpaces adoptionElectric vehicles and the already-decided gameRenewable energy in Texas leading the nationBattery swap technology for instant EV refuelingAI as infrastructure challenge, not just a toolFractional CPTO work and the collapsed product/technology divideAcceleration breaking downstream processesProduct delivery pipelines in the AI eraTesting, quality, and avoiding bugs at scaleLocal control at the edge versus cloud-to-cloud integrationMatter gateway and bridging legacy protocolsThe renaissance of generalism over specializationBuilding and shipping, alwaysIan Banks Culture series as optimistic future vision────────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliWebsitehttps://michaelrispoli.com/────────────────────────────────CAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yjNewsletter Archivehttps://us16.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=847ea1526d6523a41ef1eb5a5&id=48d53e9627Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • Legal tech is still using keyword search. That is a massive waste of what AI can actually do.

In this episode of CTO Confidential, Mike Rispoli sits down with Lawrence Krubner, CTO of Score Lytics, to dig into the frontier problems that AI is now making possible to solve. Lawrence has been building on the web since 2002, and his perspective on how each generation dismisses the next is eye-opening.

We talk about why minimalism matters when AI removes the need for it, how antagonistic agents from different LLMs can verify information with high confidence, and why open-source models are often better than frontier models when you have the right architecture. Lawrence shares how legal tech is wasting AI by treating it as a fancy search tool instead of using it to extract nuanced meaning from unstructured text.

This is a conversation about managing AI-generated code, the importance of forward deployed engineers, and the languages that were designed for the problems AI is now solving.

    What we cover:

AI as the newest wave of simplification

Ruby on Rails and frameworks that play well with AI

Managing what to review in auto-generated code

  • The model that worked for thirty years just died. And nobody wants to say it out loud.In this episode of Strictly From Nowhere, Justin Abrams and Mike Rispoli dig into the existential challenge facing every service business building software. AI has made delivery faster. Projects that used to take six months now take three weeks. But the sales cycle did not accelerate. The demand did not accelerate. So now you have a supply problem. We talk about why non-technical customers cannot see the value in backend work, why vertical slices matter more than horizontal development, and how showing your work is not optional. Mike breaks down the cascading problems: time and materials billing is dead, value-based pricing is the only answer, but how do you price something that used to cost six months when it now costs three weeks? This is a real conversation about the asymmetric acceleration between what agencies can produce and what the market actually needs. And nobody in the room knows the solution yet. What we cover:Why customers cannot see backend and infrastructure valueVertical slice methodology versus horizontal developmentThe importance of showing your work constantlyCommunication channels and meeting people where they areWeekly rollups, tickets, and project visibilityThe dark side of over-delivering with AIFeature farms and shipping too much too fastTime and materials billing model is deadThe shift to value-based pricingSingle-use tools and maintenance contractsAsymmetric acceleration between production and demandSales cycles not accelerating with delivery speedThe challenge of finding and keeping customersWhy building things has never been easierWhy finding customers is now the actual hard part────────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW JUSTIN ABRAMS | @cuzzinjustinLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/cuzzinjustin/Xhttps://x.com/cuzzinjustinTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@cuzzinjustinFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cuzzinjustin24Websitehttps://www.cuzzinjustin.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliWebsitehttps://michaelrispoli.com/────────────────────────────────CAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yj────────────────────────────────OPEN SOURCE PROJECTSCodeDojohttps://github.com/Cause-of-a-Kind/code-dojo-coreOCR Ruby GEMhttps://activestorage-ocr-demo.fly.dev/────────────────────────────────COMMUNITY INITIATIVESLong Island Technologistshttps://www.longislandtechnologists.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/long-island-technologists-networkinghttps://www.instagram.com/longislandtechnologists/────────────────────────────────We Build Products, Because We Want Them To Existhttps://coakstudio.com────────────────────────────────Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • The most successful people in the world are not in college. They are learning from other people. The question is: where are you learning from?

In this episode of Forward to Extraordinary, [Justin Abrams](https://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/) sits down with [Josh Brown](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jkbrownofficial/ "Josh Brown"), a course creator, educator, and CTO who has worked across every vertical from technical theater to corporate to teaching to building education businesses. Josh shares his framework for designing courses that actually work, why most online education fails, and the singular thing that separates people who build thriving education businesses from those who build products nobody buys.

We dig into reverse engineering courses from the end result backward, filtering out fluff that only adds noise, building communities that retain members, and why most entrepreneurs are chasing the wrong thing before they have validated the right thing. Josh also talks about micro niche success, authentic content in the age of AI, and the mastermind groups that actually matter.

This is a conversation about building products people want, keeping things simple, and surrounding yourself with people who will tell you the truth.

    What we cover:

    - Origin story from technical theater to teaching to courses

    - The fallacy that college is the only path to success

    - The bookend build framework for designing courses

    - Why fluff kills online education programs

    - Retention through community and engagement

    - Asking for help as a strength, not a weakness

    - Reverse engineering course success from the end result

    - Validating ideas before investing time and money

    - Micro niche success and specificity

    - Authentic content in the age of AI

    - Research based platform selection versus guessing

    - The syndication strategy that works for you

    - Simple wins versus chasing complexity

    - Masterminds and surrounding yourself with honest people

    - Being a CTO for a membership business at scale

    - Rent versus build platforms and liability

  • The most important circle in any startup is demand. If you do not nail that, technical feasibility and business viability do not matter.

In this episode of Forward to Extraordinary, Justin Abrams sits down with Alex Salazar, CEO and co-founder of Arcade.dev, an AI agent orchestration platform for enterprises. Alex shares the playbook that works: spotting non-consensus opportunities, refusing to ask customers what they want, using fake products to test demand, and knowing when to kill ideas fast.

    What we cover:

Non-consensus opportunities and betting before they become obvious

Why demand matters more than feasibility or business viability

Do not ask customers what they want, show them problems instead

Using fake products to validate demand without writing code

False positive and false negative feedback

    Price discovery through customer conversations

Feature soup kills products, use reduction not addition

Delegated user authorization for agent security

    AI guardrails versus governance

Culture as customer excellence and world-class talent

  • The tools are the same for everyone now. So the winning strategy is to use them differently.

In this episode of Strictly From Nowhere, Mike Rispoli and Justin Abrams dig into how they are each using AI to overcome the barriers to shipping content and ideas. Mike shares his process of recording blog posts, using AI to edit and organize, then heavily hand-editing to preserve authenticity. Justin talks about building an omnichannel strategy across voice, video, and writing. But the conversation quickly shifts to something more important: how to stand out when everyone has the same tools.

They discuss why their customer is not on Instagram, why the podcast is becoming commoditized as more agencies copy it, and why the real opportunity right now is in the abandoned marketing tactics that everyone stopped doing. They talk about going back to door-to-door, relationship building, and in-person presence because every other channel is noise.

This is a conversation about moving faster than the market can follow, knowing who your actual customer is, and exploiting the density of opportunity in your own backyard.

    What we cover:

Using AI to overcome writer's block and publishing barriers

Preserving authenticity when using AI for content editing

The difference between writing for humans versus LLMs

Building an omnichannel strategy with authenticity

Why Instagram and TikTok do not work for B2B service businesses

The commoditization of successful marketing strategies

Speed of AI development versus speed of customer feedback

The challenge of moving faster than you can get market signal

Abandoned marketing tactics and in-person relationship building

Why the real opportunity is in your neighborhood

Avoiding commoditization in a world where everyone has the same tools

Long Island as Silicon Island and the density of opportunity

  • The gap between what technology can do and what an organization will actually accept is where the real work happens.

In this episode of CTO Confidential, Mike Rispoli sits down with Jessi Szurek, Associate Partner at Synthesis, an AI native consulting firm focused on financial services and enterprise transformation. Over 17 years in technology consulting, Jessi has seen the industry shift from waterfall methodologies to agile, from low-code platforms to AI, and from paper-based requirements to digital transformation at scale.

We dig into what it actually takes to implement AI in highly regulated financial environments, why proprietary data becomes the real competitive advantage, and how the non-deterministic nature of AI creates challenges in domains where consistency is non-negotiable. Jessi shares insights on building trust with stakeholders, the importance of user adoption over technology selection, and why the human element remains irreplaceable in finance.

This is a conversation about consulting with integrity, understanding your clients beyond the surface, and building solutions that people will actually use.

    What we cover:

Origin story from architecture to AI strategy and governanceHow AI disrupted the low-code and no-code platform marketImplementing technology in highly regulated financial environmentsThe non-determinism problem in AI for financeProprietary data as the actual competitive moatWhy quick wins and MVPs matter in consultingUser adoption as the real measure of successThe human touch in wealth management and financial advisoryAI's design limitations and the commoditization of mediocre designCompliance, governance, and the layers of enterprise riskCareer advice for a tough tech job marketFinding your path when it is not linear

  • The tech industry just changed again, and if you are still thinking about it the old way, you are already behind. In this episode of CTO Confidential, Mike Rispoli sits down with Oshri Cohen , a fractional CTO who has been watching the landscape shift in real time. Over the course of this conversation, we unpack what it means to build products in an era where AI writes the code, how to think about technology selection when language no longer matters, and why the entire operational model of software companies needs to be rethought. We get into the honest comparison between Claude and GPT, why programming languages might become irrelevant, and how managing AI agents is completely different from managing human teams. Oshri shares his approach to scaling development work through agentic systems, why product managers need to stop writing tickets and start understanding customers, and what it really takes to build something meaningful in this moment. This is not theory. This is what the work looks like right now. What we cover:The CTO role and why it is the most misunderstood position in techHow AI fundamentally changed the fractional CTO business modelClaude Code versus GPT: a developer's honest perspectiveWhy programming languages might be approaching obsolescenceBuilding architecture decisions with LLMs as the primary toolRuby on Rails, Go, Elixir, and why readability matters to AIManaging multiple AI agents instead of human developersReturn on investment beyond revenue metricsProduct management in the age of AI developersWhy customer satisfaction is the actual ROIThe future of junior developers in a generative AI worldBuilding something and taking real riskshttps://www.linkedin.com/in/oshricohen/https://oshricohen.me/────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────FOLLOW JUSTIN ABRAMS | @cuzzinjustinLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/cuzzinjustin/Xhttps://x.com/cuzzinjustinTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@cuzzinjustinFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cuzzinjustin24Websitehttps://www.cuzzinjustin.com────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliWebsitehttps://michaelrispoli.com/────────────────────────────CAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yjNewsletter Archivehttps://us16.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=847ea1526d6523a41ef1eb5a5&id=48d53e9627────────────────────────────────OPEN SOURCE PROJECTSCodeDojohttps://github.com/Cause-of-a-Kind/code-dojo-coreOCR Ruby GEMhttps://activestorage-ocr-demo.fly.dev/────────────────────────────────COMMUNITY INITIATIVESLong Island Technologistshttps://www.longislandtechnologists.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/long-island-technologists-networkingWe Build Products, Because We Want Them To Existhttps://coakstudio.com────────────────────────────────Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • When you work inside a major corporate transformation, you see the future coming. When you leave that job to build something for the people being left behind, you become part of it.In this episode of Forward to Extraordinary, part of the Strictly From Nowhere network, we sit down with Alesha Taylor, founder of G2G Intelligence. A few years ago, Alesha watched her company get acquired by an AI technology firm. She got a front row seat to how automation and AI transformed operations, how less busy work meant more meaningful work, and how the small business owners struggling to keep up would soon be facing extinction without help. So she walked away from corporate and built a company to bridge that gap.We dig into her zero to market story, what it means to pivot when the data tells you to, and why understanding opportunity cost became the thing that changed everything. Alesha shares hard won lessons about saying no to the wrong clients, protecting your time as your most valuable resource, and why differentiating yourself means understanding that you are your brand, not your company. This is a conversation about finding your way through chaos, and why the struggle is more universal than any of us realize. What we cover:Leaving corporate to serve the small business communityWhat AI transformation looks like from the insidePivoting based on data and the law of averagesUnderstanding opportunity cost as a founderWhy you have to be willing to walk away from the wrong dealsThe moment you realize you are your brandBuilding community around education and AI implementationProtecting your time as your most valuable resourcehttps://g2gintelligence.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/ataylor1011/────────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW JUSTIN ABRAMS | @cuzzinjustinLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/cuzzinjustin/Xhttps://x.com/cuzzinjustinTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@cuzzinjustinFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cuzzinjustin24Websitehttps://www.cuzzinjustin.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliCAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yjNewsletter Archivehttps://us16.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=847ea1526d6523a41ef1eb5a5&id=48d53e9627────────────────────────────────OPEN SOURCE PROJECTSCodeDojohttps://github.com/Cause-of-a-Kind/code-dojo-coreOCR Ruby GEMhttps://activestorage-ocr-demo.fly.dev/────────────────────────────────COMMUNITY INITIATIVESLong Island Technologistshttps://www.longislandtechnologists.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/long-island-technologists-networkinghttps://www.instagram.com/longislandtechnologists/────────────────────────────────We Build Products, Because We Want Them To Existhttps://coakstudio.com────────────────────────────────Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • In this episode of Behind Enemy Lines, a segment of CTO Confidential, Michael Rispoli breaks down a lesson every forward deployed engineer, consultant, and AI builder needs to understand:Selling service is not selling software. That same lesson applies directly to forward deployed engineering. An AI phone system that books more appointments might sound like an obvious win until it overwhelms the team, frustrates customers, or damages the reputation the business depends on. A mobile ordering system sounds great until customers complain that their coffee is cold. Automation can be technically successful and still be operationally wrong. In this episode, Michael explores:- Why sales is really an empathy skill- Why engineers need to stop projecting their own assumptions onto customers- Why SaaS thinking often fails inside service businesses- How AI can create new operational problems if deployed carelessly- Why “too much growth” can be a real concern- Why service businesses need good growth, not growth at all costs- Why the service is the moat for many SMB and mid-market companies- How forward deployed engineers can design solutions that protect the customer experienceIf you are selling AI, building tools for Main Street businesses, working with clients, or trying to become a better forward deployed engineer, this episode is a reminder that the best technology is not always the thing that creates the most volume. It is the thing that helps the business grow without destroying the trust, service, and reputation that made customers choose them in the first place.────────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW JUSTIN ABRAMS | @cuzzinjustinLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/cuzzinjustin/Xhttps://x.com/cuzzinjustinTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@cuzzinjustinFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cuzzinjustin24Websitehttps://www.cuzzinjustin.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliWebsitehttps://michaelrispoli.com/────────────────────────────────CAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yjNewsletter Archivehttps://us16.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=847ea1526d6523a41ef1eb5a5&id=48d53e9627────────────────────────────────OPEN SOURCE PROJECTSCodeDojohttps://github.com/Cause-of-a-Kind/code-dojo-coreOCR Ruby GEMhttps://activestorage-ocr-demo.fly.dev/────────────────────────────────COMMUNITY INITIATIVESLong Island Technologistshttps://www.longislandtechnologists.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/long-island-technologists-networkinghttps://www.instagram.com/longislandtechnologists/────────────────────────────────We Build Products, Because We Want Them To Existhttps://coakstudio.com────────────────────────────────Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • What does it take to build a business in a hundred year old industry when you are young, bootstrapped, and going head to head with billion dollar giants?

In this episode of Forward to Extraordinary, part of the Strictly From Nowhere network, we sit down with Zechariah Thomas, founder and CEO of ⁨@SwiftHockey⁩ . A former pro hockey player from Oshawa, Ontario, Zechariah turned a problem he lived every season, sticks that cost a fortune and broke constantly, into a mission driven company built to make the sport more accessible and affordable.

We get into his zero to market story, why content volume became his single greatest competitive weapon, and how he survives a business that operates week to week with bills stacked on bills. Zechariah shares hard won lessons on financial literacy, building a team rather than a family, and why he believes entrepreneurship is not for everyone. It is an honest, unfiltered look at the grit behind the accolades.

    What we cover:

The zero to market story behind Swift Hockey

Why content and distribution beat venture capital

Treating your company like a team, not a family

Embracing pressure as a tool for growth

Why financial literacy is the skill founders wish they had sooner

Going up against hundred year old giants as a young founder

  • Search is changing faster than the mobile shift ever did, and most businesses have not caught up yet.

In this episode of Strictly From Nowhere, we dig into Answer Engine Optimization, the emerging practice of getting your business recommended by AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. We share what we learned building our own AEO measurement tool, why it behaves nothing like traditional SEO, and what it means when an answer engine becomes a trusted advisor that people simply believe.

We get into the technical foundations every business should put in place, why removing content can be smart in AEO even though it is sacrilege in SEO, and why retail and commoditized products face the toughest road of all. We also talk through what happens when SEO and AEO start pulling in opposite directions, and why the website as we know it may not be the final destination much longer.

This is an honest, unpolished look at a craft that is still being invented in real time.

    What we cover:

Why AEO is a new game and not just an extension of SEO

The technical basics: llms.txt, full site markdown, and page level markdown

How answer engines make human like recommendations

Why removing content can actually help your AEO

Balancing SEO performance against AEO goals

Why retail and commoditized products are the hardest category

The Jeopardy method for auditing how LLMs see your brand

Why answer engines act as a trusted advisor people rarely question

We are also looking for design partners for the AEO tool we are building. If this topic has your head spinning and you want to get ahead of it, reach out to us at causeofakind.com.

  • What happens when the technology adoption curve compresses from decades into a couple of years?

In this episode of CTO Confidential, we sit down with Philip Kiely, software developer at Baseten and author of Inference Engineering, to unpack the economics, careers, and engineering reality behind running AI in production.

We get into why inference is not the money losing operation everyone assumes it is, why most applications do not need a frontier model at all, and how owned intelligence has gone from a multi year project to something a team can build in days or weeks. Philip also makes the case that inference engineering is the next great career in software, and that the field is young enough for newcomers to become experts fast.

We close on something that applies to every builder and founder. The best career advice is not about networking. It is about becoming someone people want to connect with.

    What we cover:

Why the AI adoption curve moved from decades to years

Debunking the myth that inference runs on negative margins

Task specific models and the future of specialized intelligence

Why you almost never need the whole model

How owned intelligence became realistic for normal teams

  • Roger Henley joins Mike for a deep dive on AGI, consciousness, and the future of humanity. From building neural networks to understanding what truly separates us from machines. What we unpacked:Defining AGI. It's not just doing 80% of human work. True AGI requires continuous learning, temporal awareness, and something we don't fully understand yet. LLMs are tools. Not there. Can AI discover general relativity? If you gave an LLM all human knowledge up to Einstein, could it make the leap? That's the question that matters.LLMs are tools, not conscious. They're predicting the next token. Full stop. Stop anthropomorphizing. They're bright. They're helpful. They're not thinking.Math as God's language. The more you learn about mathematics and physics, the more you feel the fingerprint of something intentional. Not an accident.AI's impact on education. Slow learning matters. Fundamentals first. Roger won't let his 12-year-old use AI for coding because you need to learn by hand first.Intellectual curiosity is everything. When hiring developers, Roger looks for one thing: insatiable curiosity. That matters more than credentials.Elon's short-sighted view. The idea that universal income just means endless consumption at Walmart misses what actually drives humans. Hiking. Climbing. Creation.Every generation thinks the end is near. We're just in a different iteration of the same struggle. It's actually a pretty good time to be alive.────────────────────────────────LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMSSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/1V4SjmlnG2sntDnck8UrGWApple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strictly-from-nowhere-a-podcast-experiment-by-cause/id1804380172iHeart Radiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-strictly-from-nowhere-a-po-315649122/YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWAstEyCK6YsKVTTRsQr37wSUPPORT THE SHOWPatreonhttp://patreon.com/StrictlyFromNowhereCONNECT WITH USLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/strictly-from-nowhereWebsitehttps://strictlyfromnowhere.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW JUSTIN ABRAMS | @cuzzinjustinLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cuzzinjustin/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/cuzzinjustin/Xhttps://x.com/cuzzinjustinTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@cuzzinjustinFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/cuzzinjustin24Websitehttps://www.cuzzinjustin.com────────────────────────────────FOLLOW MIKE RISPOLI | @mike_rispoli_ctoLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-rispoli-cto/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mike_rispoli_cto/Xhttps://x.com/michael_rispoliTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@mike_rispoliWebsitehttps://michaelrispoli.com/────────────────────────────────CAUSE OF A KIND | @causeofakindWebsitehttps://www.causeofakind.comLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/cause-of-a-kindInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/causeofakind/Xhttps://x.com/causeofakindTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@causeofakindNewsletter Signuphttp://eepurl.com/gcc-yjNewsletter Archivehttps://us16.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=847ea1526d6523a41ef1eb5a5&id=48d53e9627────────────────────────────────OPEN SOURCE PROJECTSCodeDojohttps://github.com/Cause-of-a-Kind/code-dojo-coreOCR Ruby GEMhttps://activestorage-ocr-demo.fly.dev/────────────────────────────────COMMUNITY INITIATIVESLong Island Technologistshttps://www.longislandtechnologists.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/long-island-technologists-networkinghttps://www.instagram.com/longislandtechnologists/────────────────────────────────We Build Products, Because We Want Them To Existhttps://coakstudio.com────────────────────────────────Brought to you by Cause of a KindA boutique software development and startup studio from Long Island, New YorkStand up. • Mike breaks down JSON Lisp. A new approach to building UIs with LLMs. How to serve dynamic experiences. Token efficiency. Why rapid prototyping is the future.

    What we covered:

API endpoints can serve HTML, JSON, or text. Different formats for different needs. The challenge is building UI that can adapt and scale.

JSON Lisp is token efficient. It's a syntax designed to reduce the amount of tokens needed to describe UI interactions. The future of LLM-driven UIs depends on efficiency.

Dynamic UI runtime means the interface builds itself. Based on data. Based on the user. Based on context. No predefined layouts. Just instructions that generate the experience.

Rapid UI generation. Stop designing static screens. Start thinking about how LLMs can generate UI on the fly. This changes everything about how we approach product development.

Rapid UI prototyping. Go from concept to working prototype in minutes, not weeks. LLMs handle the grunt work. Developers handle the strategy.

LLM-driven UI generation. Don't write HTML. Don't write React. Write instructions. The machine builds the interface.

Handling messy data. Real world data is messy. Inconsistent. LLMs are surprisingly good at understanding context. At normalizing. At making sense of chaos.

Personalization is the future. Your data. Your way. Every person gets a different UI tailored to their needs. This is only possible with LLM-driven generation.

  • Justin and Mike go deep on purpose, ethics, and what it means to build responsibly in the age of AI. They read poetry from The Alpinist and discuss climbing classics that parallel building business.

    What we covered:

Climbing is a dance with sorrow. A poem about the longing for home while pursuing mastery. About the exposed unknown of mountains. About building while your family builds at home.

The crux is uncomfortable. The hardest point isn't when you're small or big. It's the middle. Where there's a lot to lose and a lot to gain. Where you're just trying to succeed.

The best partners are bold, skilled, and love what they do. They know when to walk away. They know risk. They weigh risk against reward. This applies to business partnerships.

A Hippocratic Oath for technologists. Am I doing no harm? Just because you can build something doesn't mean you should. If the express goal is to replace people, don't build it. If it enables growth and frees people up to do better work, that's different.

Purpose matters more than profit. Your why has to be bombproof. If you lose touch with what your purpose was, you're just building because you can. Not because it should exist.

Small contributions are valuable. Waiting tables. Trail maintenance. Tree bucking. These matter. They have dignity. We need more people asking "what do I want to contribute?" not "what can I do?"

  • We're breaking down the real state of AI in agencies. From why relying on a single LLM provider is dangerous to Anthropic's catastrophic business missteps.

    What we covered:

AI is redefining UI. Personalized experiences instead of one UI for everyone. Google Disco. Whisper Flow. The future of how we interact with machines might not involve keyboards or mice.

Siri is still trash. Apple's had it for years and it's broken. Google's assistant is infinitely better. Voice input matters but the bar is embarrassingly low.

Business risks of external dependencies. Justin's entire automation workflow broke because of a Claude API change. Lost an entire day troubleshooting. This is the cost of building on someone else's LLM.

Anthropic is becoming Jaguar. Expensive, unreliable. They raised prices while their uptime is abysmal. They lost the developer market they owned.

Mike switched from Claude to GPT-4o. Same capability. Half the cost. Better uptime. Better reliability. Anthropic's Super Bowl ad attacking OpenAI backfired spectacularly.

Agency growth in the age of AI. Closed two deals today. Two more next week. But you can't let success kill your marketing. The boom/bust cycle is real.

Money as tool vs life. Different relationship with money depending on background. Most people fear their money or don't know how to work with it.

  • Joseph Beauchamp teaches leadership development. His thesis: most leaders don't understand the pieces of their own leadership that actually work.

    What we unpacked:

*Leadership styles are tools, not fixed identities. Use the right tool for the moment. Most leaders get stuck with one hammer for everything.

*Culture doesn't establish itself. It drifts. A 1% change in trajectory compounds into massive misalignment over years.

*Hire for culture. Train for competence. You can teach someone their job. *You can't train core values.

*Belief and action must align. If you say customer first but act otherwise, your team feels the violation.

*Everyone is muddling through. The difference between who grows and who doesn't isn't secret knowledge. It's staying in self-development, reading, going to conferences, getting mentors.

*Inspiration beats force. People buy you before they buy your idea. Real leadership energy comes from genuine values and the desire to serve.

Prepare for growth before you need to. If you know challenges are coming, train now. Practice now. Get mentorship now.

  • We're talking with Nnenna Ndukwe, lead of developer relations at Qodo, about building a career in tech and why code quality is the biggest problem in the AI era.

Nnenna moved to Boston with her last dollars and worked her way into tech. Her story reveals something most engineers miss: non-technical skills matter as much as the code.

    What we unpacked:

Hand coding is non-negotiable. AI is easier. That's why you need to do the hard thing first.

AI is making junior developer mistakes at massive scale. Build faster but the code becomes fragile.

Code quality is the bottleneck. Your MVP used to take 3 months. Now a week. But maintenance becomes impossible.

Personal manifesto drives authentic content. Document your values. Run all content through that lens.

DevRel matters more now. As AI products multiply, the ability to communicate value is the differentiator.

The industry has a responsibility to junior engineers. Entry-level disappeared because there's no time to train. That's shortsighted.

Prompting AI is becoming art. You learn by listening to output. The English changes subconsciously.

Math needs history. Fundamentals grounded in context stick better than formulas.

Public speaking is vulnerability first. Show up weird. The right people connect.
