The Director's Cut podcast shares stories that did not make the final cut for the live version of the StoryTown Radio Show. They're still great stories, though, and deserve to be shared. This story comes from Leon Overbay, the Bard of Boones Creek and one of the original founders of the StoryTown Radio Show. It was written by Jules Corriere and last appeared on the air in 2016 or so. We included Leon’s story “Did I Make the Cut” in our February 2025 show, “Fair Play in the Arena of Life.” This piece about John France is an addendum to that larger story. Enjoy this memory of baseball in Jonesborough as performed by Cynthia Millhorn, Ralph Martin, Katy Rosolowski, and Emma Kate Kyker.

The Director's Cut podcast shares stories that did not make the final cut for the live version of the StoryTown Radio Show. They're still great stories, though, and deserve to be shared. This edition is a little different. We kicked off the 2025 season with a special show at the newly reopened Jackson Theatre. Prior to the theatre’s grand opening, StoryTown gathered stories about the theatre from the people who grew up going to it. This story comes from Jimmy Rhein. To this day, Jimmy still lives in his family home and can walk to the theatre. We weren’t able to include his memories in the January show, because we had so many stories, but we wanted to share it here and now with you all.
