Drawing from his experience of being mugged and witnessing the surge in crime, Mr. Ghulati is determined to utilise his expertise to lead London toward a safer future. He outlines his plans for combating crime with a focused and accountable approach, aiming to create a city that is not only safer but also more secure for its residents.
Also, Mr. Ghulati addresses the issue of traffic congestion and inefficiency in public transport. He explains his strategies to improve transportation systems while ensuring sustainability and equitable access for all citizens.
Acknowledging the importance of SMEs in building the city’s economy, Mr. Ghulati’s vision includes promoting and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by creating opportunities for entrepreneurs. In this episode we have Rohit Kumar joining us from Los Angeles, USA. Rohit is not just an entrepreneur but also a content creator who actively promotes budding entrepreneurs, assisting them in establishing their own businesses.
He focuses on consumer products, import and export, e-commerce, and logistics. Since 2011, Rohit has been CEO of New Origins, a service provider for consumer product brands.
In our conversation with Rohit, we discussed his background as a businessman and entrepreneur, specialising in consumer products and import-export. With over 15 years of experience, Rohit shares his journey of creating brands, navigating import-export processes between India and China, and managing a warehouse in the US offering shipping services and 3rd party logistics (3PL).
About two years ago, Rohit made a strategic decision to venture into content creation. His motivation? To share his extensive knowledge and encourage more exports from India, seizing the significant opportunities available in the global market.
Rohit shares his unique experience of spending a significant part of his life in both Los Angeles and Delhi. He contrasts this with the present, where globalisation and technological advancements have made life easier for expats and NRI communities.
When Rohit moved back to the US, he started his career by working in Silicon Valley. However he felt a lack of flexibility in his job so he took the bold decision to leave Silicon Valley and embark on a journey to create something of his own. This led him to the realm of physical products, eventually leading to the establishment of his own import-export business. Rohit started his journey when he stumbled upon the idea of introducing bamboo toothbrushes to the US market. This marked the beginning of his venture into brands and the evolution of his business.
While doing this business, Rohit realised that in the Western market, there was a preference for products labelled "Made in India" over those labelled "Made in China." The discussion also reveals the global potential for Indian products and the role the NRI community can play in facilitating this growth.
Rohit also shares his insights into the current market scenario and the immense opportunities for those looking to export products from India.
Rohit believes that the NRI community plays a very important role in the global export landscape. The potential lies in creating a network that actively promotes Indian manufactured goods on a global scale.

In today’s episode of Staying Indian- the NRI Podcast, we have with us Reema Mahajan, the founder of Indian Women in Dubai (IWD), a community of more than 60,000 Indian women expats in the UAE.
Reema, an alumnus of IIT and IIM, has been recognized as one of Asia's Top 100 Women Power Leaders, with awards like the Women Empowerment Award and Top 15 Women Leaders in the Middle East 2023.
Our conversation takes us through Reema's inspiring journey, the founding story of Indian Women in Dubai, and how the community has grown since then.
What started as a small facebook group for making friends and connecting with similar Indian Expat women, has now grown into a community of more than 60000 Indian expat women.
Reema shares the different types of initiatives Indian Women in Dubai undertakes, explaining how the community helps Indian expat women settle into Dubai. They also help women with their careers by helping them find jobs, mentoring them in entrepreneurship and encouraging women led small businesses through their platform.
Having moved from London to Dubai, Reema reflects on the differences she felt living in UAE vs living in London. While she liked both London and UAE, she found a larger Indian community in UAE with whom she could interact and connect. Also Dubai being geographical closer to India gives a sense of comfort with regards to travelling to India.
We also discuss a bit about the big events Indian women in Dubai have hosted recently, featuring celebrities like India’s Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, Bollywood singer Guru Randhawa, Bollywood superstar Mr Shahrukh Khan, and many more.

Rashmi's journey as an NRI began in Japan, where she initially encountered challenges continuing her banking career due to the language barrier. Undeterred, she chose the challenging path of switching her career, opting to teach English.
As she relocated to Singapore, Rashmi re-entered the banking sector. However, she still felt unfulfilled, and realised she is no longer interested in this field. Hence, Rashmi took a bold step, leaving her job to follow her passion. This led to her engaging in social projects, volunteer work, aiding women and children in shelters and alongside also pursuing a degree in psychology and counselling.
The trajectory of Rashmi's life took an unexpected turn when her mother, unfortunately, became wheelchair-bound and grappled with loneliness and melancholy. As Rashmi and her sister searched for ways to keep their mother busy, Rashmi conceived the idea of SparkOn.
SparkOn emerged from a simple yet powerful idea – the power of forming connections through the sharing of knowledge, purpose, and joy.
SparkOn offers a platform for learning various skills through live interactions, both in-person and online. The courses offered are not only affordable but also incorporate face-to-face interactions, enhancing accountability and engagement.
