In 1996, Martin published A Game of Thrones, the first installment in his A Song of Ice and Fire series. The series, set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, follows the intertwined stories of noble families vying for control of the Iron Throne. The books were praised for their complex characters, intricate plot twists, and realistic portrayal of medieval warfare
In 2011, HBO premiered Game of Thrones, an adaptation of Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. The show became a global phenomenon, breaking records for viewership and critical acclaim. The incredible untold story of Louis Armstrong, an American original, an African American cultural touchstone, one of the most important figures in the history of Jazz, and one of the greatest American entertainers of the 20th century. From a dirt-poor boy raised amid the hustlers, pimps, and whores of turn-of-the-century New Orleans, Louis Armstrong mastered his music and became a figure larger than life. He helped create that most American of music genres: Jazz. Over his lifetime, he became one of the most recognizable personalities on the planet. If you often find yourself asking "What did I just see?" after the film credits roll, this podcast is for you. Join us as we dive into the (plot) twisted world of final scenes in film and TV show history.
Think Inception. Parasite. Avengers: Endgame. Shutter Island. Call Me By Your Name. Some endings just stick with you. While others...well, you may want to leave them in the past (What was Dexter thinking?). In other words, endings are complex - and can rarely be "explained'. But that doesn't mean we ain't going to try. Hosted by Sophie, Ben and Simon.
