Today, we welcome astrologer Elsa, who has been exploring the astrology of people who have had Dark Man experiences. A few months ago, Elsa asked the community on the Spirit Box Discord for volunteers to have their astrological charts analyzed to see if any patterns could be identified. The work surfaced some very interesting results.
Elsa starts the show by explaining how charts break down for the first 12 minutes, so if you're already well-versed in that area, you may want to skip ahead. We delve into some of the evidence in my chart and discuss the parallels and contradictions in the charts of others (no volunteers were harmed in this process). To further this exploration, Elsa reviewed the charts of actors and artists who could be said to have Dark Man-related themes in their work.

Phil has been a practising Occultist for over forty-five years, with a career spanning Wicca, Ritual Magic, Chaos Magic and nondual Tantra. Together with Rodney Orpheus he co-created and edited the UK’s first monthly Pagan magazine, Pagan News (1988-92).His books include: Condensed Chaos, Prime Chaos, The Pseudonomicon, Hine’s Varieties: Chaos & Beyond, Acts of Magical Resistance and Queerying Occultures. Wheels within Wheels examines the passage of chakras into Western Esotericism. Beginning with an overview of how chakras were conceptualized in early tantric traditions, Phil Hine traces how chakras captured the imagination of both Indian and European Theosophists in the late 19th century. He explores their appearance in the early Western Esoteric imagination, from the Christian mysticism of James M. Pryse to the practical exercises of Aleister Crowley. He examines the influence of Sir John Woodroffe’s The Serpent Power and the writings of Charles Webster Leadbeater, and how chakras were psychologized in the work of Jung, to their role in contemporary therapy culture.

Today we welcome Briar of The Greene Chapel to the Spirit Box. Briar is a traditional witch, cunning woman, and fairy doctor. Her work is invested in the sorcerous duality of healing and harming and in furthering her relationship with the hidden by cultivating and deepening meaningful bonds with gods and ungods alike and exploring one’s own soul and psyche as Other.
With a scholarly background in comparative art and literature (PhD), Briar is a French native born and raised in the mountains and now currently living and working in the UK, being taught by the land here.
In the show we discuss how geographical boundaries overlap or don't in the spirit world and how language itself can be a portal. Briar takes us through her initiation and her meeting with the Dark Man. Towards the tail end of the show Briar takes us through her thoughts on Joan of Arc and the overlap with fairy lore.

Teila Verch Dywenys is a traditional witch and founder of The Cleaner Clootie Campaign, set up in 2018 in response to the growing proliferation of plastic objects left as offerings at her nearest Henge at Knowlton Grange in Dorset. Witnessing first hand how this trend has proliferated widely outside the Pagan Community (fuelled by social media and a disconnection from the original practice of clootie hanging) her aim is to realign the ancient tradition once more within its environmentally reverent origins by educating and by example ~ through the physical clearing of clootie impacted sites and by offering practical sustainable alternatives to plastic or permanent clooties.

Beginning in her early childhood, the world-famous trance medium and grande dame of parapsychology Eileen J. Garrett had numerous encounters with an entity she called the "Noble Stranger." When she asked his identity one day, this mysterious figure responded, "You may call me Lucifer."
Call me Lucifer: Dialogues with a Noble Stranger, features Garrett's writings about her encounters with this Noble Stranger, and reflections on her intellectual "duels with her Devil." The book includes extensive verbatim transcripts of Lucifer's communication with Garrett, together with Lucifer's Compendium of Guidance.
Though prepared with great care over the course of her life, the book has lain dormant in Garrett's family archives for decades. Her granddaughter, Lisette Coly, current President of the Parapsychology Foundation, has now decided that it should be shared with the public as an aid to our spiritual evolution.
Eileen J. Garrett (1893-1970) was an Irish medium and one of the most important figures in parapsychology. Despite her apparent psychic abilities, which were subjected to numerous tests by the most prominent researchers of the era.
Garrett maintained a lifelong healthy skepticism, always questioning the nature and meaning of her own extraordinary experiences. Her dedication to the objective, scientific study of psychical phenomena resulted in her establishing the Parapsychology Foundation, which published many books on the subject as well as the International Journal of Parapsychology, and the popular Tomorrow magazine.
Garrett was also something of a bon vivant, rubbing shoulders with everyone from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Cecil B. DeMille, Aldous Huxley, Salvador Dalí, Robert Graves, Anaïs Nin, and Carl Jung to name but a few. Garrett herself was a prolific author, writing a number of novels as well as books on psychical research and three autobiographies

Hailing from Carlow, Ireland, David Halpin is a writer with a deep knowledge of Ireland’s fairy lore and pagan heritage. On his facebook blog, Circle Stories, he explores these themes in great depth. David is also the creative force behind Occult Book Review on Twitter and YouTube.
What I really love about David’s work is he is an active participant in preserving the lore and mythology of Ireland. He goes out and sees the stones and raths and teases their stories from them. Which provides us with a vital link to our past.

For episode 28 of season 2 we welcome back the noble and scholarly Douglas Batchelor of the What Magic is This? A podcast for those curious about Magic, the Occult, Witchcraft, the Esoteric, the Paranormal and the Supernatural.Douglas has been doing sorcery and magic for close to 20 years. And has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Today we focus on how his practice and areas of interest have changed since his recent move to the west coast of Canada. And we discuss his recent patreon show on Isobel Gowdie, his remarkable memory and his ability to communicate complex ideas.The title for this show is a reference to a phrase used by John Moriarty in one of his many Irish radio interviews where he talked about not sitting well with the modern world and feeling its separation from nature acutely. Consequently he left his academic career and moved home to Ireland to Connemara in Co. Galway. The conversation with Douglas reminded me of Moriarty’s phrase not least because of their both moving to a rural location but in a topic that came up in the plus section of the show where we discuss the horror of poorly done TV and film adaptations. And how film becomes less story and more spectacle, that as a narrative form it is exhausted, the well has run dry.
