Just like that, the Raptors have tied the series at 2 games a piece. With Kawhi clearly laboring with a leg injury suffered in Game 3, it was imperative for the rest of the lineup to step up and ease the pressure off of him for Game 4. The team answered the call, with the bench consisting of Norman Powell, Fred VanVleet, and Serge Ibaka combining for 48 points. Couple that with the effort exhibited by Kyle Lowry who had 25 points at 6 of 11 shooting, it was exactly what the Raptors needed. Heading into Game 5 in Milwaukee, it’s important for the Raptors to keep their foot on the gas in their quest to play in the NBA Finals.

After being down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Raptors were once again faced with a must-win game to maintain their footing in this series. With their backs against the wall, they headed back to Toronto to defend home court. With the help of Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, and an outstanding bounce-back game from Marc Gasol, the Raptors were able to claim victory in a grueling Double Overtime effort to cut the Bucks’ lead to one game. As the Raptors approached Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Bucks, we as fans knew that this would be challenging. The Bucks are arguably the best and deepest team in the entire NBA and have the ability to truly challenge the Raptors at almost every level. Yet, for the vast majority of Game 1, Raptors fans were sitting quite comfortably as the team seemed to have a grip on victory. That is, of course, until the 4th quarter. With the Raptors losing their grip on the W largely due to Brook Lopez’s outside shooting, the team find themselves in an early hole down 0-1 in this best of 7 series.

With Round 2 being knotted at 2 games a piece, the Toronto Raptors headed back home to take on the 76ers in a game that would be crucial to maintain home court advantage. With Kawhi’s stellar performance in Game 4, we expected him to continue his dominance and carry this team to victory once again. We were wrong.
Yes, the Raptors were able to be victorious, but it was the effort from every member of the roster to achieve the victory. Lowry, Green, Siakam, and Gasol were able to do their part and ease the tension off of Kawhi to grab this win. Even Serge and VanVleet has great performances and contributed to what was perhaps the most complete and team oriented win that this Raptors team has had since the trade deadline. It was truly wonderful.

With their backs up against the wall, the Toronto Raptors went into Philly under the pressure of a “must-win” mentality being down 2-1 in the 2nd Round of the Playoffs against the 76ers. To make matters worse, the Raptors were unsure of the availability of Pascal Siakam, who was reportedly battling a right calf contusion Friday & Saturday, being listed as “doubtful.” He was upgraded to “questionable” come Sunday afternoon and was able to play. However, the real story is the performance that Kawhi Leonard put on, leading the Raptors to victory on the road, reclaiming home-court advantage, knotting the series up 2-2 heading back to Toronto.

Now that we’ve had a couple of games to digest the arrival of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., it’s fair to reflect on the impact that he’s able to provide for this team. As it stands, even prior to his arrival, the Jays were exceeding expectations; going so far as almost getting to that .500 mark. With his help, however, they were able to do it, albeit briefly. Still, there is a lot to be both satisfied and excited with when it comes to this Jays squad.
That being said, even though the month of April has concluded and small sample sizes being unreliable in terms of evaluating how the talent will be heading into the dog days of summer, I think it’s fair to wonder whether or not this team could possibly contend for a Wild Card spot. With the Red Sox not finding their groove and the Yankees experiencing injury woes of their own, perhaps it’s not so outlandish that the Jays could find themselves in an unlikely position of contention. Could it be?

After an outstanding 45 point performance from Kawhi to help the Raptors beat the Sixers in Game 1 convincingly, it’d be safe to say that confidence was riding high among fans. To boost that confidence, it would be criminal if we didn’t also mention Pascal Siakam’s performance as well, combing with Kawhi for a total of 74 points. Couple that with Gasol’s defensive performance to limit Embiid, it proved to be a great formula for success.
However, that confidence was held in check after Game 2 with some great adjustments by Brett Brown and the 76ers. With Simmons doing a good job at staying glued to Kawhi for 44½ minutes, as well as Embiid primarily guarding Siakam and Jimmy Butler having a great shooting performance, the Sixers responded in a big way, evening the series at 1 game a piece. Should Raptors fans be worried? What are Sixers fans saying about the series now?
