In this episode of Soulful and Sober, I’m joined by Joe Bush, teacher and coach for a real, practical conversation about debt, budgeting, and building a healthy relationship with money without the shame spiral.
We talk about:
*Why avoiding debt (especially student loan debt) matters more than most people realize
*The Debt Snowball Method (and why it works psychologically)
*How to start a budget without panic: observe first, then adjust
*The “$20 a day” habits that quietly drain your month
*A beginner-friendly breakdown of Roth IRAs and why Joe loves them
*The deeper piece: your money story, mindset, and how it shapes your decisions
*How sobriety + finances overlap (awareness, identity shifts, and learning confidence by doing)
If money has felt overwhelming, this will help you take one simple step forward without needing to “know everything” first.

In this episode, I’m breaking down the truth about alcohol moderation and why it often feels so exhausting. If you’ve tried setting rules (only two drinks, drink water in between, stop at a certain time) and still end up feeling ashamed, frustrated, or confused, you’re not alone.
We’ll talk about why moderation can feel like Russian roulette, how alcohol impacts your body (sleep, cortisol, dopamine, hormones), and why this isn’t a willpower issue it’s deeper than that. I’ll also share why trusting your body and intuition can be the beginning of real freedom.

In this episode of Soulful and Sober, I’m talking about those seasons when you feel constantly overwhelmed, worried, and like your brain just won’t shut off especially when you’re sober or changing your relationship with alcohol. I break down what’s actually happening in your body when you’re in “protection mode” (fight, flight, freeze, fawn), and how things like burnout, perfectionism, pressure to have it all together, and people pleasing can leave you feeling unmotivated, inflamed, exhausted, and stuck.
I also share how alcohol, emotional eating, scrolling, and overworking can become ways we numb out when our nervous system doesn’t feel safe and why you are not a failure if you keep finding yourself in those loops. You’ll hear simple, practical tools to calm your body (like breathwork, movement, brain dumps, and nervous system regulation), start listening to what you actually need, and gently move from chronic overwhelm into more safety, presence, and self-compassion.
