1995 Holiday Special #1
In our first holiday special of 1995 at the Sober Cinema we tackle the most romantic film of all time with the least romantic perspective: beaten down, bitter middle-aged men who hate the genetic lottery that Ethan Hawke won. (DEAD POETS SOCIETY awkward phase does not count.) However personal growth is achieved by pretty much siding with Julie Delpy the entire time and then we lose any goodwill gained by discussing Bill Belichick's sex life. Thanks for being a patron!

On January 13, 1995 Jada Pinkett battled baldness.
Only this time the follicle challenged leading lady had to contend with the sass of one Mr. Billy Zane making his bald debut in TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT. And at least he was having fun with his hairless freedom in this delightful genre film that one host can't stop saying enough good things about because he bought a Shout Factory blu-ray of this flick for eighteen bucks. A commentary track was started and then ignored because the only commentary you need is the one we provide as we begin our journey through the movies of 1995!

And Kristy Swanson had her first lesbian experience with Jennifer Connelly... which is really setting the bar very high for women and presents no hope for men moving forward. In this discussion one host questions the other owning a DVD copy of this fine film from auteur John Singleton while answering questions about his wearing of chokers in college. All in all a very political episode to start off our revisiting of 1995 at the movies!

A preview of what is to come... thirty years later at the movies.
Here is but a taste of what we have planned for a week to week rewatching of the releases at the cinema for the year 1995. If you don't care for trailers for podcasts (and why would anyone really?) let the record show that this is mainly to have audio evidence that one host completely approved of the list of films that he will inevitably complain about watching months into this project.
