In Episode 59 of the Single at 40 Podcast, we tackle one of the most controversial topics we’ve encountered in the Angeles City community.
Over the past year, we’ve seen countless comments claiming that Koreans have “taken over” Walking Street and that they are somehow responsible for changes happening in Angeles City. Instead of accepting the narrative, we decided to look at the facts.
What we found surprised us.
Out of 36 bars on Walking Street, only 13 are Korean-owned. Yet the anti-Korean sentiment continues to show up in comment sections across social media.
In this episode, Glenn and Nick discuss:
• The “Korean takeover” narrative and where it comes from
• The actual ownership breakdown of Walking Street bars
• Why judging entire groups of people based on nationality is dangerous
• Our personal experiences with Korean-owned businesses and Korean tourists
• The difference between criticism of behavior and prejudice against people
• Why a stronger Angeles City community benefits everyone
• Making Walking Street Great Again through unity instead of division
At Single at 40, we believe people should be judged by their actions, character, and how they treat others—not by their passport, race, or nationality.
We know this conversation will spark debate, disagreement, and plenty of strong opinions. That’s okay. The goal is to have an honest discussion based on facts rather than assumptions.
Whether you’re a tourist, expat, local resident, business owner, or first-time visitor, we invite you to join the conversation respectfully.

In Single at 40 Podcast Episode 54, we talk about something that reminds us exactly why we started this channel.
A YouTube subscriber recently told us that after watching the Single at 40 channel, he decided to book a trip and travel to Angeles City, Philippines for the first time. Hearing stories like that is what this community is all about — inspiring people to get out, travel the world, and experience life.
But not everything online is positive.
Recently on Facebook, a couple of commenters accused us of supporting illegal activity — without a single piece of proof or evidence. In this episode we address the accusations directly, explain what the Single at 40 community actually stands for, and why we refuse to let trolls slow down what we’re building.
We also talk about how the Single at 40 community continues to grow, the amazing people we meet in Angeles City, and why we will keep making content for the supporters who understand the mission.
And finally — we announce a change to the show:
Not every podcast will be streamed live on Facebook anymore.
The movement keeps growing… and we’re just getting started.

In this powerful and heartfelt episode of the Single at 40 Podcast – Angeles City Series, we sit down with someone who truly represents the soul of Angeles City — Ma’am Amy, the manager of the Carousel Hotel and one of the most important people in our Philippines journey.
Amy was born and raised in the Angeles City area. Her story begins on Walking Street, where she worked selling fruit to U.S. servicemen before life took her down an unexpected path. When Clark Air Force Base closed and her civilian job disappeared, Amy made the difficult decision to work overseas in the Middle East as an OFW. Years later, she returned home and found her calling in the travel and tourism industry that helps define Angeles City today.
In this episode, Amy shares her life journey, resilience, sacrifices, and growth — from Walking Street to working with the Dollhouse Group and the Wolfpack Group, to becoming the heart and soul of the Carousel Hotel.
For us, Amy is more than a hotel manager. She’s family. She’s our Filipina mother when we’re in the Philippines. She’s warmth, integrity, and genuine care — the kind of person who makes you feel at home the moment you arrive.
This conversation isn’t just about nightlife or travel — it’s about people, perseverance, and the real stories behind Angeles City.
