What's Occurring?
Gavin and Stacey is the hit BBC sitcom written by James Corden and Ruth Jones that follows two families; one from Billericay in Essex, and another from Barry Island (not Barry's island) in Wales.
The story centres around the relationship of the two title characters, Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and Stacey West (Joanna Page). Gavin lives with his parents, Mick (Larry Lamb) and Pam (Alison Steadman) in Billericay, and spends a great deal of time with his best friend, Smithy (James Corden). Stacey lives on Barry Island, a remote Welsh town, with her mother Gwen (Melanie Waters). They are often visited by their wacky uncle Bryn (Rob Bryden) and her best friend, Ness (Ruth Jones). The show follows the development of Gavin and Stacey's relationship, whilst numerous side stories that involve the other characters.
Gavin and Stacey premiered in 2007, with the series 3 finale being aired in 2010. There were also 2 Christmas special episodes, the most recent being aired in 2019. The show has gained worldwide critical acclaim and won numerous awards, as well as launching the career of James Corden.
This week, we discuss the success of the show, what we loved about it and whether we think this is a truly flawless show.

It doesn't come bigger than Breaking Bad.
Arguably the greatest drama series ever made, how can 2 podcasters hope to do the show justice?
Breaking Bad was released on AMC in 2008, to a modest reception and didn't really grab anyone's attention. The story of a cancer-ridden Chemistry teacher who turns to a world of crime in order to pay his hospital bills eventually became one of the most watched shows of all time.

'Fauda', meaning 'Chaos', is the hit Israeli TV show on Netflix about an elite counter-terrorism operative called Doron Kabillio who comes out of retirement to catch an infamous Palestinian terrorist called 'The Panther'. As Doron and the unit attempt to track down The Panther, they make a number of decisions that have incredible consequences and set of a chain of events that lead to...Chaos.
Fauda is one of the most popular shows on Netflix, with an incredibly high rating from critics. Join us this week as we discuss what we liked and didn't like about the show, how we think the show reflects some of the political aspects of the current conflict and some of our favourite characters and scenes.

The 7-episode drama series is set in 1960s America during the time of the Cold War and shows the progression of Beth from a child prodigy to one of the greatest Chess players of all time.

When They See Us is the Netflix Drama Series, based on the true events of the 'Central Park 5' case in New York in the early 90's.
The 4-part series follows the story of the court case where 5 African American teenagers were convicted of the assault and rape of a woman who was jogging in Central Park in New York City. The series also follows the boys' experience in prison and their subsequent attempts to integrate into society.
The show has received critical acclaim and has ignited the conversation around racial equality and police brutality in the United States. The show is not an easy watch, but we have dissected the story and given our thoughts on whether you should watch this Netflix show.
