The Government's announced it's appointing a Crown Observer to Wellington City Council.
It comes after the council's been forced to re-write its Long Term plan, after reversing its decision to sell its shares in Wellington Airport.
ZB Senior Political Editor Barry Soper told Matt Heath and Tyler Adams that the Observer will report back to the Simeon Brown, and if the Government needs to take further action, it will based on the Observer’s reports.
He said that the problem seems to be that Mayor Tory Whanau and her lot don’t seem to understand financing, and so they’ve got to be shown how to do it.

Weight-loss drugs have seen a surge in popularity in recent years - but there's still common misconceptions about what they can do for people.
Drugs like Ozempic, which isn’t available in New Zealand, were developed to treat diabetes but after clinical trials, the drugs were found to aid weight-loss.
Bariatric specialist Dr Richard Barbor explains these drugs can help people with weight-loss - but they're not a 'magic pill' for the obesity epidemic.
"It's overhyped, it's oversold - there's a lot of common misinformation out there around it. I mean, there's no doubt that it's revolutionary... but Ozempic itself is not that great at helping people lose weight."

Ever snooped through your partner’s phone?
New challenger in the telco market Kiwi Mobile has been surveying New Zealanders on their phone habits.
Almost two-thirds of Kiwis allow their partners to use their phones, with the 18-to 34-year-old group the most trusting revealing that eighty per-cent will hand over their phone, according to the research. However, that same age group are also the most likely to go through their partner’s phone, with nearly one-third, admitting to snooping on their partner’s phone.
Overall, one-fifth of Kiwis surveyed admitted to snooping on their partner’s phone, a further five percent wouldn’t say.
It appears women are the most likely to let curiosity get the better of them (or are more honest about admitting it!). Only 14% of men admitted to the questionable behaviour, while a further 6% wouldn’t say.
Listen as Simon Barnett and James Daniels discuss the issue.
