  • Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were TV’s perfect “It” couple throughout the 1950s. But was their marriage in real life as perfect as their on-screen counterparts?

This week, Kaitlyn dives deep into the turbulent backstories of Lucy and Desi, their rises to fame, and their eventual meeting on a Hollywood set that ignited a whirlwind romance for the ages.

Due to the magnitude of Lucy and Desi’s relationship, we’re splitting their story into two parts. This episode will explore their meeting and the first few rocky years of their marriage. Or, as one could say, their first marriage…

  • When the indie rock band The White Stripes emerged from Detroit in the early 2000s, Jack and Meg White introduced themselves to the world as brother and sister. Meg was the shy yet badass sister on drums. Jack was the wild younger brother on lead vocals and guitar. The White Stripes gradually found mainstream success with iconic songs like “Seven Nation Army” and “We’re Going to Be Friends.”

But there’s more to the story than great music and a family band. In 2002, Entertainment Weekly shocked music fans around the world when they published…Jack and Meg’s marriage certificate. Proving Jack and Meg didn’t share a last name because they were siblings – they were actually divorced husband and wife!

This week, Kell is teaching us about the mysterious world of The White Stripes – including many lies, a divorce party, and a vanished rock star…

  • Do you believe in the concept of “right person, wrong time”? Well, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem may be one of our greatest examples of that phenomenon. This week, we’re chronicling their decades-long relationship that begins further back than you might think — way back in 1991.

Today we know Penelope and Javier as glittering stars on the red carpet, both award-winning actors from Spain. But who are they really? That’s what we’re trying to find out — and we discover a lot of PDA pictures on the way. Plus, we count how many of our Hall of Flames couples, like Javier and Penelope, are still together today.

P.S. Kell apologizes for repeatedly pronouncing the ‘j’ in “jamon” the Scandinavian/German way. Oops!

  • When we last left Justin & Selena, they were not talking. Or talking? It’s so hard to keep up! Anyway, now it’s 2014. Justin’s deep in his party phase, and Selena has just pulled the plug on the end of her tour after being diagnosed with Lupus.

Over the next four years, the amount of drama that would transpire would give anyone whiplash. We’re going month by month to piece together their on-and-off situationship, marked by Justin’s constant fuckboy behavior and Selena’s health struggles in the height of mega-fame. The episode is stacked with an ensemble cast of recurring characters, including Hailey Baldwin, the KarJenners, The Weeknd, a revolving door of models, and more.

From the outside, it’s easy to judge and call their story messy. But at its core, it’s a familiar cycle most of us recognize from our younger years. We have all had that friend who kept going back to the ex who treated them terribly….or maybe we’ve been that friend ourselves. Why do some relationships make us override all sense of reason and logic and bring out the worst in ourselves? Why is it sometimes so hard to walk away when we know better? And what does it take to finally let go for good?

  • Justin Bieber…but we gotta keep an eye out for Selenerrr. This is a couple we have been putting off for A WHILE. In the early 2010s, “Jelena” was arguably one of the most massive young power couples in the biz. Their lore is lengthy, and their shippers are…sometimes a little scary. It’s an intimidating task to tackle their complicated history when so many already have, but we would be remiss to leave this stone unturned.

So, we’re tackling them in two parts to do it justice. Today, we’re heading back to the early days, an innocent time when Selena looked like she could be Justin’s babysitter. We’re talking about how they first got together, their cutesy “couple goals” moments, their break-up in 2013, and their subsequent attempts to remain “friends” the rest of the year.

Next episode, we’ll cover their relationship from 2014 through 2018 and beyond, with appearances from Hailey Baldwin and many, many more models and characters in a circle that’s far too small.

From their electric on-set chemistry in Gattaca to their whirlwind romance and elusive wedding, we’re breaking down all the drama behind Uma and Ethan’s frequent red carpet appearances.

They’re a Significant Lovers couple for the books: secret dating, unplanned pregnancy, jealousy, and, of course, a “humiliating” scandal that Uma did not see coming.

  • We’re exploring the famous love story behind one of the seven modern wonders of the world -- The Taj Mahal. The relationship between Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal went beyond the typical polygamous marriage of royal courts at the time, and became a romance remembered for its fidelity, fertility (!), and tragedy.

From their first meeting at a royal bazaar in the Mughal Empire, to their devout marriage on the campaign trail, to its heartbreaking end that inspired one of the world’s most iconic monuments.

  • You’re invited…to Mary-Kate and Sarkozy’s wedding party!

This week, we’re exploring the mysterious relationship between Mary-Kate Olsen, the child-actor turned fashion designer, and Olivier Sarkozy, the banker and half-brother of the French president.

The world had followed the Olsen twins since they were babies on Full House. Now all grown up, Mary-Kate dated (and married!) a man 17 years her senior. Mary-Kate and Sarkozy seemed to be from different worlds, leading people to wonder, “What do they even talk about?” We don’t judge, but we are curious, so let’s explore this under-the-radar relationship from the 2010s.

  • “I don’t love you an atom; on the contrary, I detest you. You are a good-for-nothing, very ungraceful, very tactless…You never write me; you don’t care for your husband,” wrote Napoleon Bonaparte to his wife, Josephine, in 1796. But at the end of the same letter? He wrote, “I hope soon I shall clasp you in my arms and cover you with a million kisses…”

That’s Napoleon and Joséphine – a constant push and pull, up and down relationship. Before they became the first Emperor and Empress of France, she called him “Puss in Boots” behind his back while he wrote her mushy love letters.

Many history buffs believe Joséphine never really loved Napoleon. Others think he was happy to kick her to the curb eventually. And then there’s that prevailing story that Napoleon asked Joséphine not to wash for three days…Kel thinks there was more to the story. Let’s find out…

  • We’re untying the Duane Reade bag handles and digging into the very messy marriage of Lily Allen and David Harbour. Our first dating‑app couple, they looked to be all love and light, at first. But in 2025, Lily’s brutally candid, masterpiece of an album, West End Girl, torched the Stranger Things star while revealing every nitty‑gritty detail of the open relationship that left the singer in emotional turmoil.

Do people ever actually follow the “rules” in these arrangements? Did Lily understand it was a non-monoguous dynamic from the start? Are middle‑aged men who’ve never settled down sleepwalking red flags? Should big-name pop stars have to audition for commercial theatre? And, who the fuck is Madeline?!? We’re ruminating on these questions and more in our emotional autopsy of these ex-lovers.

  • What happens when two people who are very similar, and have the same weaknesses, fall in love? And all that’s holding them together is the love they share? Disaster.

Though short-lived, the relationship between singer Frank Sinatra and actress Ava Gardner remains one of the most explosive —and enduring—unions in Hollywood history. From their scandalous affair while Sinatra was still married, through their whirlwind 1951 wedding and countless public quarrels, Frank and Ava were drawn together by passion as powerful as the forces that tore them apart.

Even decades after their separation, friends said their bond never faded. And well into their golden years, Frank and Ava continued to regard the other as the great love of their life. So what went wrong? Find out in this whirlwind episode of Significant Lovers.

  • Everyone seems to know about Pocahontas and John Smith. It’s hard not too. Between the Disney film and the famous painting that hangs in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, their love story has become a founding American legend. But what if we were to tell you that it it’s all a myth, that Pocahontas was never with John Smith at all? And that Pocahontas did marry an Englishman, but that his name was John Rolfe. Not Smith.

In this episode of Significant Lovers, step four hundred years into the past to early America, and listen as we uncover the real story of Pocahontas and her second husband, John Rolfe. They were two star crossed lovers from warring nations, who spoke different languages, and believe different religions. How ever did they manage to fall in love? And was it happily ever after? Listen and find out.
