We were delighted to have writer-director George Popov join us for our 100th episode! George is known for the critically acclaimed Indie horror film Hex (2017), The Droving (2020), and the atmospheric docuseries that captured our attention: SIDEWORLD. George talks with Kiki, Cord, and JC about the SIDEWORLD series of folklore, myth, and legend as a whole which now includes 'Haunted Forests of England', ' Terrors of the Sea', and 'Damnation Village'. Our featured music today is by Philadelphia band Flatwaves with their song "Mothman".

Cassie takes a wild ride though Seattle, getting severely spooked & checking out some very cool places that we "highly recommend." Then we talk about a historic bar that totally stole our hearts! We just couldn't take it when we found out it was not able to reopen after the Covid-19 quarantine... Re-bar in Seattle, Washington was “…a home base for freaks, geeks, drag queens, bikers, punks, B-listers, wallflowers, wastoids, goths, grungers, drama nerds, and everybody else…” The building is also home to a few, rather unique, ghosties.

This gruesome tale isn't for the faint of heart. Today Carmen tells the story of a group of "test subjects" being forced to undergo military testing in the early 1900's. This group of captives initially wants out...however, over time, they beg to be kept in their chamber. Listen to hear all the gory details of an experiment gone wrong.

‘Tis the season! But we know not everyone celebrates Christmas, so we found a not so holly, jolly story to tell that’s Christmas themed… but also not really! Kind of like how Mel's hole wasn't really just about a hole. We'll be taking a look at some of the surprisingly un-Christmas-like characteristics of the unincorporated community of Christmas Valley, Oregon! To fit this theme, we definitely used our Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot deck for our card pull. As if our theme couldn’t get any themey-er, we’ll get to know all about snowflake obsidian!

This week we shared a promo for To All The Men I've Tolerated! Also, stay tuned for a clip from Episode 54: Period Stigma Causes Period Poverty: This week, Natalie was honored to have a conversation with youth activist, Anusha Singh. Anusha is associated with Period.org, an organization that raises awareness on period poverty and fights to end the stigma against menstruation. Anusha and Natalie chat about her experiences going in front of Ohio legislators to speak against pink taxes on feminine products. They also do a deep dive on how period stigma plays a role in everyone’s lives and how the culture needs to change around menstruation so we can further everyone’s comfort in our society and within the workforce.

Christmas…the most festive time of the year. I have fond memories of decorating the tree, helping my mom with the lights or at least attempting to, hanging the stockings on the mantel, being with family, eating amazing food, and then on Christmas Day - seeing a bounty of presents under the tree with our home being filled with joy, love and laughter.

But my question is; where did all the traditions of Christmas come from? Many will say that it is the birth of Christ that we are celebrating. Is that the case, or are our traditions far older than we realize? So, settle in with some hot cocoa, eggnog, or whatever you prefer, and listen to the true origins of some of our Christmas Traditions.

Brrr! It's cold outside. Pour yourself a drink, stoke up the fire and pull up a seat next to the Christmas tree while Edward October tells you a classic ghost story.

FIRST ... A dark apparition warns of danger on the rails in The Signalman by Charles Dickens.

THEN ... We retell the classic poem The Night Before Christmas with a creepy, gothic twist.

FINALLY ... Enter a ghostly realm in the Scottish highlands, On A Warm Christmas (adapted from the works of E.F. Benson)

Today my spooky friends, the episode you will hear will sound like a Halloween legend. But…it is not. A dark and grisly vampire hysteria gripped New England in the 18th and 19th centuries, and it resulted in the macabre history that you will hear today. It also resulted in several people being forever known as a vampire.

Just a heads up here my dear listeners…today we will be talking about desecration of the dead. Listener discretion is advised.

After spending some time in Southern California on the last episode, we now turn our attention to that great Midwestern metropolis that is Chicago and some of the truly bizarre stories therein. Sure, you've probably heard of Resurrection Mary, but do you know the Hunger Underground? What about the Leaper, seen in the western suburbs and parts of Pennsylvania? For our first-ever Chicago-based show, things get all kinds of weird in the best way.

Five-year-old Dan Mitchell would be settled in bed, with his parents down the hall, when the visitor would arrive. Gracefully prancing through the young boy's bedroom, it would communicate through telepathy, theatrics, and movement. The tall, thin androgynous figure would appear to be in a permanent state of shock with eyes wide and a mouth formed into a large O. Its face had an almost ancient look to it, but its hands were its most notable feature to the young boy as he felt he recognized them somehow, they were the hands of his ancestors.
