About this Episode:
After a 2 week break, we're back again! This episode I am joined with one of my soul friends (Johnny Cole). Every conversation I've had with Johnny always hits beyond the surface, and feels filling and life-giving. In this episode I have the opportunity to interview Johnny and talk about how patriarchy has shaped their relationships (both romantic and platonic), their relationship to touch, and of course we talked a bit about sex too!
More about Johnny!
Johnny is "healing men from living in the patriarchy, one conversation at a time" through various Men's Retreat and through their newly founded organization "Hey Brother Co"

In this episode I have the opportunity to sit down with my great friends and fraternity brothers Josh (@CobbUnplugged) and Billy (@Yozefu_Umubaji).
Friendships are already hard; but even harder when you mix it with patriarchal masculinity. Billy, Josh, and myself discuss the way in which patriarchal masculinity influences the way that we connect with other men and masculine folks.
As we are socialized into 'rigid' definitions of masculinity and manhood, we realized that the pathways for connecting with other men and masculine folks are usually through sex, sports, or politics. We've found it hard often to connect, when those topics aren't at the center.
I hope that you enjoy this honest, and transparent episode! Let us know what you think!Support the Show.

"We are not resting to recharge so we can do more. We are simply resting because it is our divine and human right." -Tricia Hersey (@TheNapMinistry)
As some of you may have noticed there was no episode last week! I would love to be able to say that this was part of the plan and that this was intentional to make this episode come alive; but it wasn't. There wasn't an episode last week, because I was burnt out.
In this episode I talk about the importance of rest, and how patriarchal masculinity influences and shapes so much of our beliefs and practices around rest,
I hope you enjoy this episode!Support the Show.

In this episode I'm joined with Chris Joseph, a creative and community builder to discuss Gentleness and Black Masculinity. Often our society pushes boys, men, and masculine folks to reject any and everything associated with gentleness or softness; leaving many folks with having to mask themselves, or put themselves in a box that they don't want to be in.
In this episode we will talk about about our experiences growing up in Christian households, navigating Homophobia, and our relationships to men and other masculine folks.
I hope you enjoy this episode!Support the Show.

"Researchers have found that at least 1 in 6 men have experienced sexual abuse or assault, whether in childhood or as adults. And this is probably a low estimate, since it doesn’t include non-contact experiences, which can also have lasting negative effects. If you’ve had such an experience, or think you might have, you are not alone." (1in6.org)Sexual assault is something that many men and masculine folks have experienced, but also something that most men don't talk about (because of shame, fear, etc). In this episode I share some of my personal experiences, and just information on the impact of sexual assault.

“When men embrace feminist thinking and practice, which emphasizes the value of mutual growth and self-actualization in all relationships, their emotional well-being will be enhanced. A genuine feminist politics always brings us from bondage to freedom, from lovelessness to loving.” -bell hooks
This episode named after "We Should All Be Feminist" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, explores how patriarchal masculinity is something that can be discussed because of the writings, and activism of feminist. Because Feminism is something that benefits everyone, we should all be feminism.

In this episode I step back from asking the questions, and allow a trusted friend to ask me questions for once. Join me and my guest host Kyle Thompson, LSW for a transparent and authentic episode about masculinity and manhood. Kyle and I worked at a local ice cream shop 10 years ago, and have still been able to stay connected!

In this reflection I take you all on a journey of what went through my mind during an evening walk. I found myself deeply disturbed by this constant cycle of harm (hurt people, hurt people).

In this episode we explore the epidemic of silence. Many men (due to patriarchal masculinity) are suffering or struggling in silence. Many studies show that many men are experiencing depression and anxiety, but not seeking any support.
Destyn shares his personal experiences with silence, bullying, and the overall impact that silence has on well-being.
