In this episode, we tackle a topic that is very common among those trying to recover from the effects of ultra processed foods, and that is the conundrums they are up against while at work. Unfortunately, this is such a big issue because the workplace is typically filled with landmines. The workplace is often a hub of food exposure. Whether it’s donuts in the breakroom, catered lunches, vending machines, or birthday celebrations every week, it can feel like food is everywhere. So let’s discover what success in recovery looks like in environments like these!

Imagine this: every choice, strategy, or mindset shift someone has made to recover from ultra-processed food addiction is like a breadcrumb leading toward freedom. And you can follow those breadcrumbs, noticing patterns and taking shortcuts, to build your own success. The idea that "success leaves clues" means that every successful person, every individual who’s overcome something, has left behind a roadmap. It might not be a GPS with turn-by-turn directions, but it’s a trail of behaviors, strategies, and practices you can adapt and use. These clues aren’t just about shortcuts. They’re about giving yourself tools that are proven to help you move forward.

In this episode, our topic is something that touches most, if not all, of us deeply: loving our bodies—especially during recovery from food-related challenges. Today we’ll ask, “Can I ever learn to truly love my body?” and we’ll dive into the many layers of body image that women face. We’ll examine the history and reasons behind our struggles, and how we can redefine body love on our own terms. All of this makes us want to stop and ask ourselves why has there been such a long history of women not loving their bodies, why the struggle? Let’s dig in and discuss!

Today we are going to dive into a discussion about the book The Pleasure Trap. The authors, Dr Douglas Lisle, a psychologist and Dr Alan Goldhamer, a chiropractor and health educator, explain how modern food environments hijack our natural instincts, leading us into a cycle of addiction and poor health. Sound familiar? The Pleasure Trap is a fascinating book that delves into the psychology and biology of why we get hooked on unhealthy foods. At its core, the book explains that humans are wired to seek pleasure, avoid pain, and conserve energy. This was beneficial for survival in ancient environments where food was scarce and physical effort was necessary. However, in today’s world of abundant, highly palatable processed foods, these instincts can lead us astray.
