    Anti Terrorism Day is observed every year on May 21, the death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. In 1991, on this day he was assassinated by terrorists while campaigning for the Congress party at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.

  • The Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP) was an Indian Ministry of Defence program for the research and development of a comprehensive range of missiles. The program was managed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Ordnance Factories Board in partnership with other Indian government political organizations. The project started in 1982–83 under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Abdul Kalam former President of India who oversaw its ending in 2008 after these strategic missiles were successfully developed.

    On 8 January 2008, the DRDO formally announced the successful rated guided missile program was completed with its design objectives achieved since most of the missiles in the program had been developed and inducted by the Indian armed forces.

  • The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is maritime law enforcement and search and rescue agency of India with jurisdiction over its territorial waters including its contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone. The Indian Coast Guard was formally established on 1 February 1977 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. It operates under the Ministry of Defence.

  • Veterans day and Army Day Special-Bright Career as Mechanical Engineer in Indian Army

    In India, Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed each year on 14 January 2017. The day aims to acknowledge and honor the selfless devotion and sacrifice of our veterans in the service of the nation. 2022 marks the 6th Armed Forces Veterans Day.

    India will be celebrating 74th Army Day on January 15, 2022. Each year on this day, the soldiers of the army are honored, who have served the nation selflessly and set the greatest example of brotherhood. This day is celebrated at all Army Command Headquarters. 

    On April 1, 1895, the Indian Army was officially established. However, in 1949, once India got its independence the Army got its first chief. It was on this historical day, the formal handing over of the Indian Army took place. General Sir Francis Butcher handed over the baton to Lieutenant General KM Cariappa.

  • The National Defense Academy (NDA) is the joint defiance service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to their respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The academy was established in the year 1955.

    The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 27 service Chiefs of Staff to date.
    The current Chiefs of Staff of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force are all NDA alumni from the same course. 
    The 137th course graduated on 30 November 2019, consisting of 188 Army cadets, 38 Naval cadets, 37 Air Force cadets, and 20 cadets from friendly foreign countries.

     The Supreme Court of India passed an order in August 2021 that allowed female candidates to appear for the 5 September 2021 NDA entrance examination.

  • On 8 December 2021, India lost its first Chief of Defence Staff – General Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM – in a tragic helicopter crash, which also claimed the lives of Madhulika Rawat and 12 officers/soldiers/air warriors. Unfortunately, the lone survivor Group Captain Varun Singh, SC, also succumbed to his injuries on 15 December.  This unimaginable and unspeakable tragedy brought the whole nation in deep shock.

    General Bipin Rawat was a transformation-oriented Chief of Army Staff (COAS) who endeavored to prepare our Army for the wars and conflicts of the 21st century. He carried forward the good work as India’s first Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) to lay the foundation for the integration of the three Services and their transformation.

    As the nation mourns this tragic loss, Rakshak pays tribute to this great soldier and military commander par excellence.

  • The Corps of Engineers is one of the oldest arms of the Indian Army. The origin of the Corps dates back to 1780 when the two regular pioneer companies of the Madras Sappers were raised. Subsequently, the Group of Madras, Bengal and Bombay Sappers were formed and later merged on 18 November 1932 to form the Corps of Engineers in its present form.The Corps of Engineers consists of four major constituents namely Combat Engineers, MES , Border Roads and Military Survey.

    In war, Combat Engineers provide mobility to own forces by constructing bridges, tracks and helipads; on the other hand the Corps denies the same to the enemy by creating obstacles such as laying mine-fields and demolition of bridges.

    His father too dreamt the same and put him under rigorous military training from age of twelve

    He cleared the NDA entrance exam in the third attempt and cleared all related tests to become a fighter pilot but could not join

    He graduated as an engineer but kept on chasing the Army dream.
