Are you a People Pleaser when it comes to how you manage money with your spouse?
Years ago, Dylan realized he was a people pleaser. If Rebecca wanted to, she could have exploited Dylan's "Nice Guy" tendency to let her spend money how she wanted. Instead she encouraged Dylan to stand his ground and hold her accountable.
As we started coaching, we noticed a similar dynamic in other couples. The people pleaser would struggle to uphold financial boundaries or to hold their spouse accountable. They felt like they couldn't say "no" without causing a problem.
But “People Pleasing” can make reaching financial goals impossible. If you give your spouse a pass when they spend more than they said they would. Then you’re both going to continue feeling frustrated with your finances.
In this episode we share our experiences with people pleasing and managing money as a couple. Find out how learning to say "no" and holding each other accountable will help you reach your goals!

If you feel like your budget isn’t cutting it - it’s not you. You just need a better tool!
At first glance, automated budgeting apps sound great. They’re marketed as being convenient and the best way to manage your money! But in our opinion these budgets have a lot of drawbacks and actually take more time to use. (at least if you want to make progress!)
As Financial Coaches we know what it takes to help people be better with money. Sadly, most automated budgets are the opposite of what you need to reach your financial goals.
In this episode, find out why automated budgeting tools might be the problem and why you’re not reaching your goals. Learn a few ways you can try to get more out of them, or what tool you should use instead!

You want to manage money with your spouse in a way that feels fair. So you keep accounts separate and split expenses 50/50. You Venmo money to your spouse for your half of the rent and they send you their share of dinner last night.
There’s just one problem - - despite this “equal” arrangement - - you both still feel frustrated about how money is being used. One of you feels behind and is struggling to keep up. The other feels like they’re being held back and wants to do more.
What’s the solution? How do you manage money in a way that feels “fair” to both of you? Does how much you financially contribute in a relationship actually matter?
In this episode we dive into what it means to manage money in a way that is fair and you both feel like equals. Because it’s not about how much you contribute or splitting bills 50/50 - it’s about making financial decisions together and treating each other with respect.

"You are so behind.”
“You should have paid off your student loans by now.”
“You should have more money saved and invested by this point."
We all have moments where we feel like we’re behind and should be further along. But if you let those thoughts take over, you’ll find yourself stuck, unable to make progress.
Of course, we’re not immune to this experience ourselves. In fact, this episode was inspired by Dylan “feeling behind” at the beginning of the year. Because of that familiar feeling we’ve all dealt with - we're sharing exactly how we get out of a “funk” and close the gap between where we are and where we want to be.

Trust and managing money with your spouse go hand in hand. Which is why this week we’re prompting you to ask yourself - Do I trust my spouse with money, and does my spouse trust me with money?
Building trust with another person takes time and most of us aren’t really sure exactly how it’s done. We’re definitely not conscious of the sneaky ways we reveal that deep down - we don’t trust our partners with money. At least as much as we like to tell ourselves we do.
But just as others might think this topic is off limits - to us that means it’s fair game. Because some of the problems that you may be having in your marriage when it comes to managing money and making financial decisions together, might be rooted in an issue with trust.
