  • This week's episode is a conversation with the co-founders of Public Habit, a beautiful clothing line that not only utilizes responsibly sourced natural fibers, BUT is also working to challenge the traditional apparel production process. They have partnered with factories, that they have scrutinized to meet their ethical and sustainability standards, to produce on-demand clothing. Meaning they only make what a customer orders - eliminating waste in production and forecasting.

Recorded remotely on March 7, 2020.

Due to coronavirus, we had a virtual chat from the safety of our homes. I met Syndey & Zakhar in 2019 and have had the chance to work with them in navigating the sustainable apparel landscape and messaging/branding ideas. I visited one of their pop-up retail sales in December 2019 to see the actual products in-person and was blown away by the quality and prices. They are making luxury natural fibers accessible and sustainable.

I love this conversation as it walks through a fascinating entrepreneur journey and path to creating a mindful apparel company, challenging every traditional production model along the way.

  • This episode took me to the Eileen Fisher Renew sorting facility, located near downtown Seattle. This is one of two of their renew facilities, where they process all of the clothing that they take back from customers when they are done with the items. This takeback program begin in 2009 and was one of the first of its kind.

I toured the facility, learned about the processes and talked with three incredible women that work for Renew. This episode was recorded in the Spring of 2019 but is more relevant now than ever, as we sit in the midst of this global pandemic and see companies rethinking business as usual. Join me in learning about an innovative company and a few tips for how you can help to reduce the impact of your own apparel decisions.

  • Episode 2 takes us on an adventure to a ranch in Wyoming, pairing a Seattle fashion designer with an organic cattle rancher. I love this episode because it brought together 2 of my good friends and gave us the chance to get up close and personal with cashmere goats and help understand two very different but intersecting industries.....

Let's jump in and pull this thread to learn more about where cashmere comes from, trying to produce fibers & apparel in the U.S. and two women on their own meaningful missions. Happy listening, and if you like this please subscribe, rate and review!
