Laura Mazanec is a trained* Cuddlist who is local to Pflugerville, Texas (15 miles north of Austin). As a phototherapist so photographs immuno-compromised people and sexual assault survivors. As a touch practitioner, she also provides a therapeutic service. She requires a consultation call for new faces in both cuddle therapy and photography. Her photography business is called Paper Plane Photo and it the name was inspired by a friend she met in college. Laura attended college for journalism, business, and computer science.
You can tell from other interviews of Laura that she is extremely open about her snuggle job and disabilities. In this premiere episode of season 5 of Pro Cuddle Hustle, Laura and Felicity discuss endometriosis and traumatic brain injury. They discuss women in male dominated fields. They discuss burnout and the cuddle industry (or lack thereof) in different Texan cities.

This is the second interview of another cuddle therapist on Pro Cuddle Hustle Podcast!
Samantha Varnerin is a professional cuddler who serves the Boston area. Boston is a coastal city located in the northeastern region of the United States. Sam began professional cuddling in 2015. After two years of cuddling part-time, Sam chose to cuddle full-time.
Sam has taught bootcamps like the three-day virtual one I attended in February 2023. In Sam’s words, “Professional cuddling is heart centered work”. Alongside Lisa Meece from Holding Space (I dunno if they’re still in business), Lisa and Sam presented a panel together at the 2018 Cuddlexpo.

For this episode, I chose to research what the cuddle industry is like in Oceania.
The first half of this long episode is about two Polynesian countries. The second half is my boyfriend and I discussing the accessibility and societal reasons as to why cuddle therapy is not prominent in the Pacific.My boyfriend is Filipino and Chamorro. When I told him I was making an episode about the cuddle industry in Oceania, he said I would not find anything online. And sadly, he was 90% right. I found information on professional cuddling mostly in Hawaii and Aoteoroa/New Zealand.
I found some profiles of New Zealand cuddler providers. Unfortunately, there are no chapters of Cuddle Party in New Zealand.
