The sound barrier is just the destination. This is the journey.
With over 140 students representing 65 universities in 15 countries on 5 continents, Project Boom was created with the goal of being the first student group to reach speeds in excess of Mach 1 with a jet-powered remote-controlled aircraft.
The Project Boom team will perform all initial flight tests of their high-speed vehicle sometime next year. The purpose of these flights is purely for research and will represent a first in aircraft manufacturing.
Project Boom's industry advisors include Lucien Junkin, NASA Space Exploration Vehicle Chief Engineer, Craig Damlo, Senior System Engineer at Blue Origin, Aldo Martinez, Multidicipline Engineer at Boeing, and Bryce Fong, Aeronautical Engineer at Lockheed Martin. Project Boom's industry partners include Solidworks and Siemens. -
