  • The world we live in has changed so much… and with constant advances in technology, continues to change exponentially. Have you ever stopped to consider how this impacts your children or the young people around you?

We (parents and adults) simply cannot even imagine how the world appears to them and how such rapid changes and relentless influences (think social media!) impact them mentally and emotionally, so how can we help them? This is a question today's guest, Mallory Rothstein asks herself everyday.

The answer is not straightforward, indeed it’s complex and challenging, not to be solved by one thing alone, that said, she believes investment in the individual holds many of the answers. What does that mean exactly? It’s simple really, what Mallory points to is the need to help young people understand themselves, to understand their mind and perhaps most importantly, understand that they have choices, that their experience of life is largely influenced by how they react to what it throws at them…

Her goal, to help them experience, at an early age the practice of personal development, something she provides support through initiatives and collaborations with parents, children, high schools and local communities.

This podcast covers a lot of ground, including why this is so important to Mallory and what stimulated her passion for it.

Here’s just some of what we covered:

    - How watching Oprah provided an escape for one young person and influenced a movement designed to support young people’s personal development

    - Creating safe spaces for personal discovery, transformation and growth

    - What high school kids really want… in order to trust and learn from you

    - Being a role model - the importance of practicing what you preach

    - The importance of confidentiality and trust when working with high school students

    - What students can learn from high school alumni and how schools, students and parents can benefit from alumni initiatives

    - How COVID has highlighted a desire from high school students for personal development programs, support and coaching

    - The challenges young people face today (that you, as a parent, simply cannot understand) and how to help them make sense of them

    - Understanding social media and the impact it has on your child - and how to help them navigate it’s influences

    Plus so much more.

  • Our guest today shares how he’s created a social enterprise that’s transforming communities one neighbourhood at a time… a journey born out of a desire to provide the best nutrition for his family.

Crop-Swap LA has grown exponentially since its inception, inspiring more and more people to grow their own fruits and vegetables in their backyards, whilst encouraging them to share what they don’t need with others… This small venture now provides food to local communities, those in need and has resulted in Jamiah being appointed as an advisor to the Mayor.

In this episode we discuss all this and more:

    - How Crop-Swap LA is helping to address food shortage issues across the state

    - Transforming front and backyards into urban gardens capable of supporting neighbourhoods, states and even nations worldwide

    - Reconnecting plants and nature with humanity… why this is important and how Crop-Swap LA is playing its part in this

    - Bringing technology into food growing and distribution via food boxes, delivery, pre-ordering and subscription

    - Aquaponic gardening ideal for those living in apartments… meaning everyone can become an urban gardener

    - The practice of Taoism and how it’s helped Jamiah personally, spiritually and in business

    - How front yard garden installations can help reduce air pollution city, state and countrywide, diabetes and other social and economic issues

  • Pete is joined for this episode of Everyday Genius by the incredible Regan Hillyer - Serial Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Energetic Coach and Global Speaker.

In this free-flowing episode, Pete and Regan discuss her own path, first to abundance and then to purpose… a journey which included walking away from an already successful and growing business despite everyone telling her not to and instead, following her gut, that feeling we often experience that tells us something’s not right!

They explore the pain, frustration and exhaustion that goes hand-in-hand with attempting to portray an image of ourselves we believe others need to see… and the freedom and joy resulting in realising you don’t need to wear a mask - just be yourself.

    Plus so much more, including:

    - Finding your way back to your innate genius.

    - The need to build your spiritual muscle through consistent practice

    - How vulnerability creates an authentic connection with others - Regan’s own example of this is so powerful

    - The importance of intent when making decisions and taking action and a reminder that your frequency is your currency

    - What to do when you feel out of alignment

    - Shifting your levels of tolerance - are you living at your minimum?

    - Getting clear on the things you don’t want in life or refuse to tolerate any longer

    - Feelings are simply energy in motion … learn to feel and love them all in order to truly experience all of life

    - The importance of creating groups to support, nourish, honour and lift you up

Ending with a reminder that however perfect someone’s life may appear to you, everyone has challenges, ups and downs … life isn’t perfect and finally, a beautiful invitation to go deeper in yourself and your own unique journey of alchemy.
