What’s the difference between a community driven business versus a content driven business? Trillions of dollars. The value of a network effect community driven business goes up with every new member. How? Through creating a group identity and connections between members NOT building an audience. In today’s episode, Gina does a deep dive on how you value your community, charge up front, save money on marketing and help people build relationships and help you build a successful business.
-
Your community and you as a host are unique and amazing but if you’re still coming to community building with the mindset of “content is king” is not unique. Why you think “content is king” is because that’s what you’re being told every time you open your phone or your computer. In today’s episode, Gina breaks down why building an ecosystem for people to gather and connect with a shared identity is the key to long term success.
-
Human beings are never going to become obsolete with AI but a lot of our manual efforts will be done by software. If you are drawn to a community because you love people and connecting with them, AI will make it easier for you to do just that. In today’s episode Gina responds to the fear of AI and how she reframes when she is driven by fear as opposed to excitement.
-
If you are trying to figure out how to make your life really easy when creating a community you really want to just start with a transition. It’s the first step and it’s the most important step. Human beings are constantly in transition, it’s what makes life interesting and fun, even if it’s a challenge. In today’s episode Gina breaks down why she doesn’t recommend starting a community with a niche and why starting with a transition and continuing to transition with your members is the best way to grow a community.
-
If you’re putting up a paywall for the first time, breathe. It can be scary but the results of charging for your work are incredible. In today’s episode Gina breaks down why a paywall works AND why you can still offer things for free to bring people in. When setting your price you want to aim as high as you can. The results of your community are the value of your community. People pay attention to what they pay for and people will pay for results and transformation that they can’t get on their own.
-
We are social beings, we are meant to learn from other people and understand the way the world works because we watch what other people do. Who you surround yourself with every single day has the most impact on who you are and what you can accomplish more than anyone else. In this episode, Gina breaks down how communities are powerful and why they are the perfect place to make mistakes and have setbacks because they are forgiving.
-
When building a community it can be hard to motivate people to find new members. In today’s episode Gina invites you to go back over your work and make sure your ideal member is super clear along with your transition. Having a clear ideal member and transition not only makes finding new members easier, it also adds more value to your community because you have already done the work of getting really specific. When asking your network if they know people who might be interested, be really thoughtful about how you ask and know that by reaching out, it’s a really great way to get specific about your offer.
-
On the surface one would think that 1:1 coaching would be more expensive than group coaching. In today’s episode, Gina challenges that notion and believes that group coaching should be at the top of your offering. With group coaching or as Gina likes to call it, a “Mastermind” you can grow faster, add more value and make it a more rewarding experience for your members. We have been taught that worshiping the individual is the best way to grow a business when in fact working with a group you can cherry pick which advice you want to take while hearing from a number of different experiences.
-
When you are building a business you want it to take on a life of its own so it can continue to grow without you having to constantly sell as you would with an e-commerce business. That’s a flywheel. A flywheel starts to build momentum of other people taking actions, other members providing value for each other and other members bringing in more members. In today’s episode Gina breaks down the meaning of a Flywheel business and why it’s a nearly perfect business.
-
With uncertainty at work, there’s no better time to start your side hustle than right now. But if you’re like most people you’re probably asking yourself, “where do I find the time?” In today’s episode, Gina breaks down how she carves out time. Don’t worry, it’s not about inventing more time but rather replacing a time suck with something more productive. Because building an additional revenue stream gives you more flexibility and your family more flexibility to do what you want to do. Why not start now?
-
It’s really hard to venture out on your own as a business owner or an entrepreneur because we are making it up as we go along. In this episode, Gina shares one of her favorite goals and goal setting exercises as well as which traps to avoid. The more clarity you have when it comes to building your future, the more likely it is that the future you’re working towards will become your reality. Happy New Year to you AND your future story.

So many people are ambivalent about starting a community out of fear. Great news. Mighty has a great alternative than a hard launch of a community. Before committing to hosting a community for the next year, try a 30 day challenge. Through a 30 day challenge you will learn, workshop and get more clear about the community you’re working towards. Additionally, you’ll get to practice charging people along with hosting a live event and even offering a course. You will learn more by doing a 30 day challenge than if you keep kicking the can down the road of an idea that could be a great community.

Sometimes we can get really excited about the social rank of our members, and we can lose focus on the thing that keeps people engaged…transitions. When identifying transitions, it helps you be able to articulate the benefits and results your member is going to get will get them their best year ever. Once you have a clear transition, you can go deep on monthly themes and daily questions. Your members will see progress when the value is clear.
