Parenting is often considered one of the most difficult and least appreciated job in the world. But it is also the most fulfilling one when you get to see your loved ones grow into a responsible and kind human beings.
But the process of upbringing a kid is full of challenges. Parents are always looking out for their child’s needs, physical safety, emotional well being and mental development in order to prepare them for the life ahead. The way we raise our kids defines how they are going to be in the future. So it is important to have a positive social, emotional and physical balance in thier lives so that we can help flourish these same traits in them.
There are no set definitions for “Good” or “Bad” Parenting, as it all depends on your own and your child’s situation. What might be inappropriate in one context and culture might be fully acceptable in another. But there are some general rules and guidelines which are followed world over as good parenting practices towards raising great kids. Some of these are giving dedicated time to your kids, showing affection to them, sharing moments with them, listening to them and understanding their needs.
Good parenting does not mean being a perfectionist but creating an environment for the child that inculcates good moral and social values in them. When children grow up, they look up to their parents as their role models and parents need to earn this respect by proving their worth when kids are growing up.
In this podcast series of “Parenting & Childhood”, Chimes Radio organizes interactive sessions with some of the child consultants, psychologists and other experts to provide useful and practical tips to parents to provide a nurturing environment around their young ones.

“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.” Proverbs 22:29
I am a Christian, and I do my best to think only on what is “true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy” (Phil 4:8). It’s hard to find media out there these days that adheres to these standards… and when it does, more often than not, it isn’t very good! I think this is why many of us have given up and just accepted what’s available in mainstream popular culture, attempting to overlook the increasing amount of objectionable material. We think it’s that, or nothing.
But we have power: we can vote with our dollars. Supply follows demand!
My (admittedly lofty) goal is to do my small part in encouraging our culture to accept nothing less than excellent, clean art—particularly for kids, young adults, and new adults. My blog and podcast are designed to be a resource to help young adults, and families of young adults, find entertaining and clean reads that do not compromise their standards. I also want to help great authors get the recognition they deserve!
Disclaimer: my books do occasionally use the words ‘damn’ and ‘hell.’ I don’t have a problem with this, but if you do, then they’re not for you. 😉 -
