  • Storytime with Selina: One of the Greatest TOOLS I Learnt and How to Embrace and Love Yourself

Dive into a captivating journey of self-discovery and empowerment with me on this solo episode of the One World Countless Stories Podcast. In "Storytime with Selena," I unveil one of the most impactful lessons I've gained through therapy! Let’s get vulnerable as I highlight the power of embracing rather than eliminating different aspects of oneself.

In this thought-provoking episode, I reflect on her own experiences with counseling, tracing back to a high school teacher's suggestion and the subsequent discovery of counseling services. I will take you through my journey of identifying and acknowledging various aspects of yourself, including anxiety, perfectionism, and learning disabilities. The turning point emerges as I introduce the concept of "parts work," a therapeutic approach that encourages embracing these different facets rather than attempting to eradicate them.

You will be treated to a visual exploration of my mental landscape, where various "parts" of her personality gather around a metaphorical table. This episode becomes a guide for self-reflection, encouraging individuals to identify and embrace their own complexities. With a call to action, I share a practical exercise for you to engage in, urging you to draw circles on paper, assign colors to different traits, and start a journey of mindfulness and self-awareness. As she concludes. I hope you love yourself a little extra and navigate personal growth with grace and acceptance. • Welcome to the Season Finale of our podcast! In this episode, we delve into the power of setting intentions for our lives through objectives and passion, and the realization that each of us is on a unique journey.

The conversation takes off as I share a conversation that unfolded during a recent road trip with a close friend. Reflecting on our past experiences and the twists and turns life has brought us, we explore the profound impact of the present moment in shaping who we are. One aspect we touch upon is the feeling of being behind in life. We acknowledge that many of us have experienced this sentiment, but we also recognize the importance of letting go of societal expectations and comparisons. We celebrate the diversity of our paths and highlight that being in a different place than our peers doesn't imply being on the wrong track.

We challenge the notion that success follows a specific formula and emphasize the beauty of pursuing unconventional paths. The detrimental effects of comparison become a central theme as I acknowledge that comparing ourselves to others is a joy killer. I emphasize the significance of celebrating our accomplishments, no matter how small, and acknowledging the sacrifices made along the way.

I also share some insights gained over the past months, focusing on the transformative power of letting go. Expressing initial confusion, weariness, and a desire for instant clarity, I discovered the importance of reframing her objectives. Shifting from a mindset of lack to abundance, she realized that she holds the power to define her purpose and find joy in her everyday life. By choosing to have fun and be intentional with her time, she embraced the objective of joy and positivity for the remainder of 2023.

Listeners are encouraged to examine their own objectives, redefine them positively, and reframe their perspectives on their unique journeys. Embracing change and acknowledging the challenges that come with pursuing different paths, we emphasize the importance of self-compassion along the way.

Join us in this Season Finale as I celebrate the beauty of individual journeys and explore the transformative power of redefining objectives and letting go of comparison. Thank you for listening, your support and we'll see you in Season 3!

  • Today I am going to be talking about something that I feel is not that talked about that much... And that is how confusing it is to transition into becoming a young adult. Taken right off the web “A quarter-life crisis is a period of uncertainty, stress, and deep soul-searching that many young people experience as they embark on a new chapter in life.” And this is exactly what I think I am in! But lately, I have come into some insight that might help you if you feel like you resonate with that.

The biggest misbelief that a lot of us have is that we have to pick one thing and do it for THE REST OF OUR LIVES.

There are so many pressures and we don’t actually know what the heck we wanna do because we have just been busy completing high school. Some have gone and done things and extracurriculars, but others have just simply survived high school. And in high school, I believe that doesn't truly teach us how to be creative. Only creative inside the box.

I go through a quick rundown of what my life has been the last three years. From graduating high school to being out in the real world, leaving college, and doing something untraditional. And then 7 Steps to Take Charge of Your Life and Finding Yourself.

The first step is figuring out what your BS !!!! YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM;) Figure out what beliefs you have that are helping you. And what beliefs do you have that are holding you back in stopping you from being amazing or great?

What thought of having to have it all figured out? Going to experience new things. Go fail. But keep moving forward and learn from your mistakes. Learn from your failures. And I’m telling you this because it’s what I need to tell myself. It’s OK to be lost right now because it is all a part of a bigger plan.

I started reframing things in my life. I learned that we as humans in our individual experiences give everything meaning. I want you to hear that again everything in our life we give meaning to. Reframe and look at all these things as building blocks as a step up to figure out where you’re going.

I hope you enjoy this episode and that it helps you!

  • In this episode, I dive into the topic of failing forward and starting regardless of being bad at the beginning. I had some epiphanies while I was in my Zumba class…

When have you stopped yourself from doing something because you were afraid you would look bad? Or afraid you could do it? Or afraid that you would fail? Or afraid that others will judge you?

I have been afraid of all these things! I have extreme expectations for myself and I strive for perfection. This mindset has shifted for me but it is a work in progress. At Zumbia I had many interesting thoughts that turned into beautiful lesions. I had to suck at something in order to become better (the thing is referring to my dancing skills😂).

Today I am going to talk about doing things while you are uncomfortable and that you might fail at but the importance of moving forward despite the result. WE all let our fears stop us from living our dreams. We are so afraid of failing and what others will think about you. It’s so IMPORTANT we don't let these fears block us from LIVING. Ask yourself what those fear are present. And what are things that I really want to do but haven't done because I am afraid? Make the choice to tackle these fear! You have to start the conversation within yourself and then take action!
