  • I'm back after the longest break I've taken (I think) since I started and it is good to be back. In this episode, I am joined once again by my good pal, Erin, and we are chatting about the dreaded FEAR.

We go deep into our past drunken activities that left us as balls of anxiety and depression and hear you're hilarious stories too. From spending the night in Santa Barbara County Jail to waking up in your ex boyfriends mother's house to going back to a fellas house and his dog biting your face, you can be guaranteed that whatever shite you were talking last weekend doesn't have a patch on the stories we discussed.

And at the end of the day nobody really cares what you did only you - so there's no need for fear.

This episode is sponsored by Everyday's Friday. An Irish owned clothing brand set up by a lovely young Irish family with the concept that every day should be looked at the same as a Friday. We should be looking forward to every day and not wishing our days away by only looking forward to the weekend. The aim at Everyday's Friday is to provide comfortable clothing to those everyday people who carry a zest for life and a seize the day mentality. Designed in Australia, their smart, colourful range is perfect for your next workout, sunrise, coffee run or catch up.

Their ethos at Everyday’s Friday is clear, wake up every morning excited. You never know what the day will bring.

Cathal and Sara have been working on their brand for the last 18 months and have focused on having the best quality product possible. They have kindly given me and my listeners a 10% DISCOUNT CODE for any purchase. Use the code: notasinglebother for 10% off.

  • My gorgeous friend, Erin, is back for another episode with me where we dove deep into what she calls, the quarter life crisis. This whole worry that people in their late twenties - mid thirty year old's have about whether they should be settling down, buying a house and having kids OR doing none of those things and heading off travelling. We got such a massive response from you all over on my Instagram and it's clear to see that you are damned if you do or damned if you don't so just go ahead and do what makes you truly happy. There's not right thing for any one person and we both hope that this episode makes you feel better - whatever your situation is!!

Enjoy the episode and you can now also watch my podcasts and vlogs over on my YouTube channel!! This week's video episode is unfortunately only 10 minutes long due to *technical difficulties* but don't forget to subscribe to my channel!

  • I’m very excited about this week's episode of the podcast because whatever your political views may be, you can’t deny that this man is a character. Independent TD, Michael Healy Rae, a man who I’ve realized lives off about 2 hours of sleep, took the time out of his hectic schedule to have a little chat with me. Outside of the obvious roles that being a TD entails, he talks about the sides we don’t see and the parts that have stuck with him for life like talking a man out of committing suicide over the phone.

I went beyond the politics and the paddy caps and found out what really makes him tick and obviously had to touch on his recent “airy fairy” comments in the Dail! Let’s just say, he won’t be apologizing any time soon!

  • On this weeks episode, I've been chatting with the inspirational, Martine Dines. Martine was just 29 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and since then has decided to document her journey in order to help others. She has faced many ups and a lot of downs throughout all of this, including her battle to get her parents into Australia to be with her during the height of the pandemic. Martine and her fiancé Sean are such genuine, down to earth, kind people and it's been such an amazing journey. It's an eyeopener to us all and hopefully a ray of hope for those going their own cancer journey.

Thanks so much to Martine for sharing her story with all of us! x

As you may have seen on my socials, I decided to step outside my comfort zone a little bit recently and set up a Ko-fi account! A ko-fi account is basically where, if you like my podcast and my content, you can donate me the price of a coffee (COMPLETELY optional!)I feel so weird doing this for a load of different reasons but, at the same time, I put a lot of time and effort into what I do. I also said at the start of this year that I wanted to do this full time so I need to stop acting like things are just going to fall into my lap and make a few adjustments.
As I said, it’s completely optional and it’s basically a case of if you like what I do and wouldn’t mind buying me a coffee then happy days and if you don’t then don’t and that’s absolutely fine too!
If you would like to then the link to do so is here: https://ko-fi.com/aislinndowling

Thank you SO much to everyone who has already bought me a coffee!!! It does not go unnoticed and I am so appreciative of your support!!

  • On this weeks episode I chatted with the gorgeous and extremely intelligent, Aisling Fox, or AOK Nutrition. As it turns out, we all really don't have a clue about hormones, how contraception really works, fertility and everything in between. Aisling debunks the myths we all relate to the pill and other contraceptives as well as providing us with the knowledge to help us with our hormonal issues, sex drive issues, fertility issues and whatever hormonal related questions you might have.

I feel relieved and so much better informed about the things we should have learned in school anyway.

Follow Aisling on Instagram @aoknutrition for constant information and lots of interesting facts!

It was so nice to speak with Aisling and I hope you enjoy the episode!

  • Is it possible to have a craic filled night on the tiles with no alcohol? Some of you probably think not a chance but Lisa Curran who is behind Ireland’s first ever alcohol free events company, The Virtue Club, has seen first hand that it absolutely is and lots of people are behind the idea.

Am I a bad bitch for uploading this episode on a Monday? Possibly, but as Lisa points out in our chat, lots of people have realized during all the lockdowns that alcohol and the fear and anxiety and whatever else that comes with it just isn't for them anymore. People are looking for other options to still get dressed up, have the craic, listen to live music and socialize.

There has been a whole market of people who have not drank for years for whatever reason and have been so limited when it comes to nightlife and been almost outcasted because they don’t drink. Gone are the days of standing there awkwardly with an orange juice and telling whoever is asking that you are on antibiotics because Lisa and the Virtue club have every drink you can think of without the filthy hangover and the good vibes to go with it. It may not be for you but I’m sure you know someone this would appeal to and how nice would it be to take that person out for a night on the tiles.

Such a great chat with Lisa and hilarious to hear the stories of people really embracing the idea. Can’t wait to see where they head next!

  • In light of the tragic murder of Aishling Murphy a few days ago in Tullamore, County Offaly, although I had planned on doing an episode like this in a few weeks time, I just could not get this out of my head so I decided to record this today.
Things need to change big time. The fact that women can’t go out and do their daily bits on their own without fear that they might be attacked, assaulted, raped or killed is not one bit normal yet we have just lived our lives for years just as though it is normal. We have been told since we were small to not do this and make sure you do that etc. etc. all to make sure we are kept safe from dangerous men. We have almost become numb to it over the years and have to accept the fact that some men will inevitably do things and we just have to do what we can to protect ourselves. Obviously what we have learned from this is that there is nothing more us as women can do anymore to protect ourselves. Therefore, conversations need to be had and changes need to be made.
Actual punishments need to be put in place for men that attack women and women need to be listened to. It’s not all men but it most certainly is some men and my friends and I have had our fair share of dealings to prove so which you can hear about in this episode. The justice system is warped and victim blaming needs to stop and that's just touching the surface of things that need to change. The facts and figures that I discuss in this episode are shocking.
I know most of my listeners are women but I would encourage men to listen to this episode to open your eyes a bit to a few things you might not realize.
    RIP Aishling xx

  • HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAAAR!!! Welcome back to the podcast or welcome if you are new here! What better time than now to talk about everything you need to know if you are moving to Australia. Finally, working holiday visas are allowed to come over (but I still can't leave and come back lol) and I know that a lot of you had so many questions that I tried my best to answer.

I'm here four years this month (where does the time go) and my life was a lot different back then to say the least. I chatted about what I would have done differently, what it's like to go through a break up abroad and the ups and downs you might experience especially within your first year here.

It's such an amazing place and you will have the best time, but, the grass is not always greener so prepare yourself for a few bumps in the road when getting settled.

If you have any more questions or any specifics then I am more than happy to answer if I can so feel free to send me a DM on my Instagram.

  • On this week's episode I am delighted to be chatting with my fabulous friend Denise Curtin. Denise and I were in the same course in college in UL and she is such a grafter and that is why she is now the digital editor of Ireland’s number one media platform for the modern gal, Stellar magazine.

We chatted about her journey from starting off as a Spinny in Limerick (throwback) to now being one of the organisers of Stellar's first annual InstaStar awards.

We went behind the scenes of the awards and who her favorites to win were and I tried to squeeze as much gossip from the night out of her as I could.

Denise has interviewed so many massive stars including Anne Hathaway and her BFF Colin Farrell and she tells us what it is like behind the scenes of those nerve wracking interviews that leave her needing a spare change of clothes.

She is an absolute legend and gorgeous both inside and outside so I hope you enjoy the episode.

  • Lads, get ready for some wholesome content with the nicest, most genuine man in the whole of Ireland. At 67 years of age Padraig Howley, or Sing and Step With Padraig as you may know him from Instagram, turned vegan for health reasons and hasn’t looked back since. He went from the typical Irish diet of a fry for breakfast and a dinner of meat spuds and veg to trying dishes that he couldn’t even name.

With the help of his lovely daughter Tara, he has been cheering up the country and every Irish person abroad through his lilting, dancing and overall good craic. He has won the hearts of so many people with a massive 79k followers on Instagram and growing. A man that didn’t even know what Instagram was a few months ago.

I’m so delighted to have been able to chat with him so thank you Padraig and Tara for taking time from your break away.

Despite all of our degrees, achievements and successes we all weirdly feel like frauds but at least we can all feel the comfort in knowing that you’re not alone in those thoughts.

  • If you have ever felt shit about yourself then this ones for you. I’m back with two of my lovely friends Erin and Rachel to chat about body issues, putting ourselves down and the obsession we all have to look ‘perfect’.

We delve into the effects of social media, society and, more importantly, our own minds on how we see ourselves. We also get honest about our own struggles with what we see in the mirror and negative comments that have stuck with us for years.

We discuss our opinions on fillers and surgery’s and so much more but most importantly about how we all need to just start being a bit nicer to ourselves each and everyday.

It’s raw and truthful and it’s a really important message that we all need to hear (myself included) and just remember that your looks are the least interesting thing about you.

I hope you enjoy the episode and thank you to Rachel and Erin for coming on again x

  • On this week’s episode I am so excited to be chatting with famous Irish designer, Colin Horgan. Colin is from a small village in Kerry called Ardfert and went from drawing video game characters as a teenager to now designing pieces for the likes of Lady Gaga, Little Mix and Dua Lipa to name a few.

We spoke about the fashion industry as a whole and if it really is as catty and cut throat as we have seen in the likes of The Devil Wears Prada.

Colin, who is now working from his showroom in Ardfert, just recently finished filming RTE’s Glow Up Ireland appearing alongside Ireland’s best make up artists and the iconic Maura Higgins. He also speaks very honestly about the struggles he has and continues to face in the business and the knock to his ego that in the end led him to where he is today.

It was so, so nice speaking with Colin and getting an insight into the crazy world of the fashion industry so I really hope you enjoy this episode!

  • Part 2 of Ciara's story of the tragic loss of her partner David who sadly drowned in an accident while they were living in Vancouver. After months of searching for David's body and essentially grieving twice when they finally found his body, Ciara speaks about how David pushed her forward to find happiness again. Ciara is so grateful to be exactly where she is today and although it was far from an easy journey, she is proof that you CAN get to the other side of things and feel happy again.

Since the accident, Ciara has written her own book called ‘Miracles Appear When Loved Ones Are Near’ and she speaks with such honesty and rawness about the emotions and tough times she went through over the months that they searched for David’s body and the years following that. She is living proof that everything happens for a reason and loved ones are always guiding us. She is honestly one of the nicest and more caring people I have encountered and I encourage everyone to listen to her positivity because if she can come out the other side of a tragedy like that mentally and go on to help others then we all have the ability to overcome whatever battles we face.

  • On this weeks episode, Ellis and I are back to chat about our working lives in steel toe cap boots, the high vis shirts and hard hats. A job that I never thought I would see myself doing but here I am two years on with a whole lot of stories to tell both good and bad!

Most girls in Sydney will probably find themselves with a stop/slow bat in their hands at some stage over here or at least has a friend that has.

It's full of ups and downs and it's how Ellis and I became friends so I suppose that's one positive I can take from the last two years.

If you have ever wondered what life as a traffic controller is all about, how to get into it or you just want to hear us talk shite again then have a listen.

  • On this weeks episode, as you can tell from the title I am joined by my lovely wee Scottish pal, Ellis, to chat all things Love Island. Whether you love it or hate it you have to admit it is slightly addictive. Scrambled heads, fried eggs, liars, cheaters, over dramatic, playing games, fakeness and who we love the most are just some of the things we discuss in the episode. You also get a lovely treat from the music teacher herself and I'm hoping she can write me a song that I can make my permanent intro. Apologies for the shouting at the beginning but I'm not sorry for our accent attempts.

I hope you enjoy the episode and if you were hoping to hear us chat about traffic control, then you will have to wait another little while as we decided to split it into two episodes.

Pamela is the original Irish Mammy skit woman and it was those videos that, and not without a lot of behind the scenes graft, propelled her to where she is today with her very own evening show on Today FM.

We chat about how her blogger skit videos led her to be blocked by a few of them, how she managed to cheer up the nation through Covid and her own struggles with her mental health.

Pamela is such a down to earth gal and another great conversation that proves that if you don’t really know what career you want to do you will eventually find your way to something that makes you happy.

She is also a lyrical genius and should be writing raps for Cardi B any time soon. If you know you know!

You can listen to Pamela live on Today FM from Sunday to Thursday between 7 and 10pm. Or if you are here in Sydney, like myself, you can tune in via the Today FM app live on Monday to Friday from 4am to 7am or listen back whenever you want thanks to the app.

I hope you enjoy the episode x

  • On this week's episode I am chatting to the lovely Roberta Harrington from Shop Bobby. You may have come across her amazing healthy recipes on Instagram and if you haven't you need to!!

Roberta talks about her change from being a secondary school teacher and moving from that stability to doing something that truly makes her happy and brings out her passion of healthy living.

Life wasn’t always so rosy for her though, as she spoke publicly for the first time about her years of struggling with bulimia and the hard work she put into being where she is now - happy and healthy.

There’s so much more to this episode but I’ll just let you listen to find out the rest!

Hope you enjoy the episode and thanks again to Roberta for being so open and honest!
