Wouldst thou like to die deliciously? At long last, Michal and Avishai arrive at the culmination of their series with Robert Eggers' take on NOSFERATU! Starring Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe, the 2024 remake blends meticulous historical detail with modern sensibilities to create a gross and gorgeous gauntlet of horrors. Please note that this episode contains discussion of necrophilia, ingrained societal expectations, and Avishai doing the Orlock voice. Thanks for listening!

LIGHTS! CAMERA! FICTION! Avishai and Michal go off-script with 2000's Shadow of the Vampire, written by Steven Katz and directed by the determinedly weird E. Elias Merhige. The film reimagines the true story behind the production of the original 1922 Nosferatu as a cautionary tale of ambition and the extremes of artistic integrity; Willem Dafoe will have you screaming (with laughter) as Count Orlock, but it might be John Malkovitch as F.W. Murnau who ends up really bringing the scares! Plus: Goooooood pussy.

Holy Man-Bat, Batman! Avishai and Michal plunge fangs-first into the 90's with Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, the first big-budget American prestige cinema iteration of Stoker's immortal story. Starring Winona Rider, Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, and a thoroughly wilted Keanu Reeves, the film is a lush and insane melange of sex, practical effects, dubious history, and the lack of an accent coach. Don't drown in those oceans of time, folks!

Back tu Nosferatu! Skipping ahead a few decades, Avishai and Michal return to Germany for 1979's Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht, written and directed by Werner Herzog. Blending the proper names from the original novel (mostly) with the story created in 1922 (also mostly), Herzog's Nosferatu is a painterly nightmare that dwells on what scares us most: Plague, sexuality, and a thousand-year-old sadboi with way too many rat friends.

The Drac has entered the chat! Avishai and Michal continue their journey through the cinematic vampire with 1931's Dracula. Directed by Tod Browning and written by Garrett Fort, this black-and-white classic famously stars Bela Lugosi -- and less famously but no less epically, armadillos and a bug in its very own wee coffin. Come for the Bram Stoker of it all; stay for the highly questionable accents.
