ジェットコースターは好（す）きですか？
三重県（みえけん）にある長島（ながしま）スパーランドという遊園地（ゆうえんち）、富士山（ふじさん）の近（ちか）くにある富士急（ふじきゅう）ハイランドという遊園地（ゆうえんち）は日本（にほん）でもトップ２の怖（こわ）いジェットコースターばかりある遊園地（ゆうえんち）です。今回（こんかい）は三重県（みえけん）の長島（ながしま）スパーランドに限定（げんてい）して、そのジェットコースターの人気（にんき）ランキングについて話（はな）しました。
ちょっと海外（かいがい）の皆（みな）さんには馴染（なじ）みのない遊園地（ゆうえんち）ですが、観光客（かんこうきゃく）に人気（にんき）のディズニーランドやユニバーサルスタジオジャパンよりも、怖（こわ）いジェットコースターを体験（たいけん）したい場合（ばあい）はおすすめです。
名古屋（なごや）から簡単（かんたん）に行（い）けるので、よかったら日本（にほん）に来（き）た際（さい）は行（い）ってみてください。
Do you like roller coasters?
There are two amusement parks in Japan famous for having the scariest roller coasters: Nagashima Spa Land in Mie Prefecture and Fuji-Q Highland near Mt. Fuji.In this episode, we focused on Nagashima Spa Land in Mie Prefecture and talked about the popularity rankings of its roller coasters.
It might not be very well-known to people overseas, but if you want to experience thrill rides even scarier than those at Disneyland or Universal Studios Japan—both popular tourist spots—this park is highly recommended.
It's easy to get there from Nagoya, so if you visit Japan, definitely consider checking it out!

来月（らいげつ）からとらがマレーシアに行（い）くため、ポッドキャストが2人（ふたり）でできなくなってしまいます。そこでとらの代打（だいだ）として、とらのお父（とう）さん「インドネシアおじさん」を考（かんが）えています。今回（こんかい）はとらが都合（つごう）が悪（わる）く収録（しゅうろく）できなかったため、急遽（きゅうきょ）インドネシアおじさんと収録（しゅうろく）し、その出来栄（できば）えを試（ため）してみました。
トピックとして、自動車業界（じどうしゃぎょうかい）で働（はたら）く人（ひと）としてトランプ大統領（だいとうりょう）の自動車関税（じどうしゃかんぜい）をどう考（かんが）えているのかを聞（き）いてみましたが、想像（そうぞう）していたのとは少（すこ）し違（ちが）う回答（かいとう）が来（き）ました。
初（はじ）めての収録（しゅうろく）なので、あまり上手（じょうず）に話（はな）せていないかもしれませんが、「おじさん」の感想（かんそう）などあればぜひぜひお待（ま）ちしております！
Since Tora will be going to Malaysia next month, we won’t be able to record the podcast together for a while. So, we’re thinking of having someone fill in for him—his dad, a guy we’re calling “the Indonesia guy.”
This time, Tora wasn’t available to record, so we quickly put together an episode with the Indonesia guy to see how it would turn out.
I asked him, as someone who works in the automotive industry, what he thinks about President Trump’s auto tariffs. But his answer was a bit different from what we expected.
Since this was his first time on the podcast, he might sound a little awkward, but I’d love to hear what you think of “the guy”!

スマート家電(かでん)と呼(よ)ばれるロボット掃除機(そうじき)のルンバや、スティック型(がた)の掃除機(そうじき)だけでなく、炊飯器(すいはんき)などもAIを搭載(とうさい)しどんどん進化(しんか)しているようです。
掃除機(そうじき)にそんなに興味(きょうみ)のなかった私(わたし)でも、ちょっと買(か)ってみたいと思(おも)うほど魅力的(みりょくてき)でした。

Not only robot vacuum cleaners like the Roomba and stick-type vacuums, which are called smart appliances, but even rice cookers are now equipped with AI and seem to be evolving rapidly.
Even I, who wasn’t particularly interested in vacuum cleaners, found them so appealing that I kind of want to buy one.

オーストラリア（おーすとらりあ）の高校生（こうこうせい）が使（つか）っている日本語（にほんご）のテキストの中（なか）に、日本（にほん）の漫画（まんが）文化（ぶんか）を紹介（しょうかい）する読（よ）み物（もの）があったので読（よ）んでみました。その教科書（きょうかしょ）は20年以上（にじゅうねんいじょう）前（まえ）に作（つく）られていて、一番（いちばん）最近（さいきん）改訂（かいてい）されているものでも10年前（じゅうねんまえ）なのでかなり古（ふる）い情報（じょうほう）ですが、それでも漫画（まんが）の発行部数（はっこうぶすう）や「少年（しょうねん）ジャンプ」のことなど興味深（きょうみぶか）い内容（ないよう）が書（か）いてありました。今（いま）はもっと発行（はっこう）されているし、媒体（ばいたい）も変（か）わってきていますが、今（いま）の現状（げんじょう）と比較（ひかく）しながら、日本（にほん）の漫画（まんが）文化（ぶんか）について話（はな）しました。
I read an article in a Japanese textbook used by Australian high school students that introduces Japanese manga culture. This textbook was created over 20 years ago, and even the most recent revision was made 10 years ago, so it contains quite old information. However, it still included interesting content about the circulation numbers of manga and "Shonen Jump." While the circulation has increased and the media have changed since then, I discussed Japanese manga culture by comparing it to the current situation.

大阪(おおさか)から四国(しこく)に引っ越し(ひっこし)た友達(ともだち)と久しぶり(ひさしぶり)に会い(あい)ました。
大阪(おおさか)という大都市(だいとし)での子育て(こそだて)に疑問(ぎもん)を感じ(かんじ)て、自然(しぜん)豊か(ゆたか)な四国(しこく)に引っ越し(ひっこし)た友達(ともだち)ですが、どうやら引っ越し(ひっこし)た先(さき)の人間関係(にんげんかんけい)にあまり馴染め(なじめ)なかったようです。
人間関係(にんげんかんけい)というよりも、四国(しこく)という島(しま)の土地柄(とちがら)にも関係(かんけい)する人々(ひとびと)の人間性(にんげんせい)に慣れ(なれ)なかったと言い(いい)ました。
これは何(なに)も四国(しこく)に限っ(かぎっ)たことではなく、沖縄(おきなわ)や、日本(にほん)自体(じたい)にも言える(いえる)ことだと思い(おもい)ます。
島(しま)や田舎(いなか)という閉ざさ(とざさ)れた世界(せかい)から形成(けいせい)される、その土地(とち)の人々(ひとびと)の人間性(にんげんせい)について話し(はなし)てみました。I met a friend who had moved from Osaka to Shikoku for the first time in a long while.
Feeling doubtful about raising children in a big city like Osaka, my friend moved to the nature-rich Shikoku. However, it seems that they had trouble fitting into the social dynamics in their new environment.
Rather than just interpersonal relationships, they said they struggled to adapt to the mindset and behaviors of the people there, which were influenced by the unique characteristics of Shikoku as an island.
This is not something limited to Shikoku—it can also be said about Okinawa and even Japan as a whole.

日本(にほん)のテレビ番組(ばんぐみ)で「月曜(げつよう)から夜更(よふ)かし」という番組(ばんぐみ)があるのですが、そこで取(と)り上(あ)げられていた、心理(しんり)テストが面白(おもしろ)かったので試(ため)してみました。皆(みな)さんも一緒(いっしょ)に試(ため)してみてください。
また、その番組(ばんぐみ)内(ない)で「世界(せかい)の人々(ひとびと)はどんなことを話(はな)して盛(も)り上(あ)がっているのか」というインタビューも面白(おもしろ)かったので、そのことについても話(はな)しました。
皆(みな)さんの国(くに)では日頃(ひごろ)どんな話題(わだい)で盛(も)り上(あ)がっていますか。もちろん個人(こじん)によって趣味(しゅみ)の話(はなし)など、盛(も)り上(あ)がるトピックは違(ちが)いますが、特(とく)に自分(じぶん)の国(くに)でこの話(はなし)がよく盛(も)り上(あ)がるというものがあれば教(おし)えてください。There is a Japanese TV show called "Getsuyou kara Yofukashi" (Staying Up Late from Monday). We tried out a psychological test featured on the show because it seemed interesting. Please try it out as well!
Also, the show had an interesting interview about what people around the world talk about and get excited about.

先週（せんしゅう）、大阪万博（おおさかばんぱく）とカナダについて少（すこ）し話（はな）しましたが、あれから万博（ばんぱく）について生徒（せいと）や外国（がいこく）の友達（ともだち）に話（はな）してもどの国（くに）の人（ひと）も万博（ばんぱく）を全（まった）く知（し）らないことがわかりました。
実際（じっさい）万博（ばんぱく）にはほとんどの国（くに）がパビリオンを出（だ）して参加（さんか）しているのに、どうして万博（ばんぱく）はこんなに知名度（ちめいど）が低（ひく）いのでしょうか？

暖(あたた)かい日(ひ)も出(で)てくるようになりましたが、まだまだ寒(さむ)いこの頃(ごろ)です。カナダなどではマイナス20度(ど)や30度(ど)になる日(ひ)もあるようです。４月(しがつ)に大阪(おおさか)で万国博覧会(ばんこくはくらんかい)、略(りゃく)して万博(ばんぱく)というものが開催(かいさい)されるため、日本(にほん)では盛(も)り上(あ)がっていますが、皆(みな)さんは万博(ばんぱく)をご存知(ぞんじ)ですか？最近(さいきん)、万博(ばんぱく)のカナダパビリオンに応募(おうぼ)しているカナダ人(じん)と、カナダについて勉強(べんきょう)したため、カナダのこと、また万博(ばんぱく)のことについて話(はな)してみました。

日本（にほん）では先進国（せんしんこく）の中（なか）でも給料（きゅうりょう）安（やす）いと言（い）われていますが、大学（だいがく）卒業（そつぎょう）した人（ひと）の給料（きゅうりょう）が4月（しがつ）からかなり上（あ）がるというニュースを聞（き）きました。同時（どうじ）に、第（だい）2次（じ）ベビーブーマーの私（わたし）の世代（せだい）は、人口（じんこう）が多（おお）く、大学（だいがく）入学（にゅうがく）も大変（たいへん）で、かつバブル崩壊（ほうかい）直後（ちょくご）で就職（しゅうしょく）も難（むずか）しく、給料（きゅうりょう）も安（やす）いという最悪（さいあく）な時代（じだい）を生（い）きてきたと言（い）われています。確（たし）かに厳（きび）しい時代（じだい）でしたが、振（ふ）り返（かえ）ってみると今（いま）の若（わか）い子（こ）達（たち）の生（い）きている世界（せかい）より、私（わたし）たちが若（わか）かった時代（じだい）の方（ほう）がもっとシンプルで楽（たの）しかったと思（おも）います。今回（こんかい）は30年（さんじゅうねん）前（まえ）の日本（にほん）と今（いま）の日本（にほん）とを比（くら）べて、本当（ほんとう）の幸福（こうふく）とは？ということを考（かんが）えてみました。
In Japan, it is said that salaries are low among developed countries, but I heard news that the salaries of university graduates will increase significantly from April. At the same time, my generation, the second baby boomers, had a large population, making university admissions difficult, and we lived through the worst era with the bubble economy collapse right after graduation making job hunting difficult and salaries low. Indeed, those were harsh times, but looking back, I think the world we lived in when we were young was simpler and more fun than the world young people live in today. This time, I thought about what true happiness is by comparing Japan 30 years ago and Japan today.

これが流れて(ながれて)いる今日(きょう)は、日本(にほん)の高校(こうこう)３年生(ねんせい)が「共通(きょうつう)テスト」という大学(だいがく)入学(にゅうがく)のために一番(いちばん)大事(だいじ)な試験(しけん)を受(う)けています。試験(しけん)は2日間(にちかん)にわたって行(おこな)われます。高校生(こうこうせい)はこの試験(しけん)のために、何ヶ月(なんかげつ)も、場合(ばあい)によっては１年以上(ねんいじょう)もかけて勉強(べんきょう)しています。今回(こんかい)はその日本(にほん)の「共通(きょうつう)テスト」とはどんな試験(しけん)なのかについて話(はな)しました。

After talking about our fun New Year's celebration, Tora-kun told me about his recommended anime for this winter. Even though I don't usually watch much anime, many of the titles he mentioned are very popular, and they are all well-known works. It seems that some of these anime have started their second seasons. If you've heard of them but haven't watched them yet, definitely give them a try. Also, recently, music from popular Japanese musicians is often used in anime, and it's intriguing to see which artist's songs will be featured in the new series. 2025（にせんにじゅうご）年（ねん）が始（はじ）まりました。みなさんの年越（としこ）しはどんな風（ふう）でしたか？私（わたし）たちは家族（かぞく）で集（あつ）まって、ご飯（ごはん）を食（た）べ、その後（あと）とらくんは例年（れいねん）どおり、新年（しんねん）になった瞬間（しゅんかん）から友達（ともだち）とLINEでメッセージを送（おく）りあってたそうです。最近（さいきん）はお正月（しょうがつ）の挨拶（あいさつ）も年賀状（ねんがじょう）ではなく、LINEでの挨拶（あいさつ）が増（ふ）えました。それにともなう年末年始（ねんまつねんし）恒例（こうれい）の郵便局（ゆうびんきょく）のアルバイト募集（ぼしゅう）や、郵便局員（ゆうびんきょくいん）の多忙（たぼう）な様子（ようす）も見（み）られなくなり、時代（じだい）の変化（へんか）を感（かん）じます。今回（こんかい）のエピソードではそんな昔（むかし）との違（ちが）いを話（はな）しながら、2025年（にせんにじゅうごねん）をどう過（す）ごしたいかを話（はな）しました。今年（ことし）もみなさん私（わたし）たちのポッドキャストの応援（おうえん）をよろしくお願 （ねが）いします！
2025 has begun. How did everyone spend their New Year's Eve? Our family gathered together, had a meal, and then, as usual, Tora started messaging his friends on LINE the moment the new year arrived. Recently, New Year's greetings have shifted from postcards to greetings on LINE. This change has also led to a decrease in the usual end-of-year and New Year job postings for post office temporary staff and the busy scenes of postal workers, making us feel the changing times. 今年（ことし）もあと残（のこ）すところ数日（すうじつ）となりました。今回（こんかい）は今年（ことし）一年（いちねん）の日本（にほん）のニュースを振り返（ふりかえ）ってみました。夏（なつ）にマレーシアに行（い）っていた間（あいだ）に起（お）きたことはあまり馴染（なじ）みがなかったり、2024年（にせんにじゅうよねん）1月（いちがつ）、2月（にがつ）の出来事（できごと）などはもう一年（いちねん）も前（まえ）のことなので覚（おぼ）えていないこともあります。改（あらた）めて振り返（ふりかえ）ってみるといいことも悪（わる）いことも、たくさんあった2024年（にせんにじゅうよねん）の日本（にほん）でした。みなさんの一年（いちねん）はどうでしたか？日本（にほん）のニュースとともに振り返（ふりかえ）ってみましょう。
Only a few days are left this year. This time, I have reviewed the news in Japan throughout the year. クリスマスが近づいてきました。日本（にほん）ではクリスマスはあまり家族（かぞく）と過ごしたりせず、特に（とくに）若い（わかい）子たちは恋人同士（こいびとどうし）で過ごすことが多いです。今年（ことし）も彼女（かのじょ）がいないとら君（くん）はどんな風（ふう）にクリスマスを過ごすのでしょうか？それから、世界（せかい）のクリスマスのお祝い（おいわい）の仕方（しかた）についても調べて（しらべて）みました。文化（ぶんか）や宗教（しゅうきょう）、場所（ばしょ）によってクリスマスの祝い方（いわいかた）もいろいろあるようです。
Christmas is approaching. In Japan, Christmas is not commonly spent with family; especially among the youth, it is often spent with their romantic partners. I wonder how Tora-kun, who doesn't have a girlfriend this year, will spend his Christmas? Furthermore, I have also researched how Christmas is celebrated around the world. It seems there are various ways to celebrate Christmas depending on the culture, religion, and location.

今回（こんかい）のポッドキャストの概要（がいよう）です。全て（すべて）の漢字（かんじ）にふりがなをつけてください。よく温泉（おんせん）や銭湯（せんとう）に行（い）く私（わたし）たちですが、日本（にほん）に来（き）たいと言（い）っている多く（おおく）の外国人（がいこくじん）から「タトゥーがあるから温泉（おんせん）には行（い）けない」と諦め（あきらめ）たり、心配（しんぱい）している声（こえ）をよく聞（き）きます。外国人（がいこくじん）観光客（かんこうきゃく）で大人気（だいにんき）の日本（にほん）ですが、未だ（いまだ）に温泉（おんせん）では「タトゥー禁止（きんし）」の注意書（ちゅういがき）きをよく目（め）にします。実際（じっさい）日本人（にほんじん）でもタトゥーを入（い）れている人（ひと）は多（おお）くなってきています。今回（こんかい）はそんな日本（にほん）のタトゥー禁止（きんし）の文化（ぶんか）について話（はな）しました。
We often visit hot springs and public baths, and we frequently hear concerns and resignation from many foreigners who want to visit Japan but feel they can't go to hot springs because they have tattoos. Japan is extremely popular among foreign tourists, yet signs prohibiting tattoos are still commonly seen at hot springs. In fact, the number of Japanese people with tattoos has been increasing. In this episode, we discussed this culture of banning tattoos in Japan.

マレーシアで会（あ）った日本人（にほんじん）の友人（ゆうじん）が実（じつ）は今（いま）、日本（にほん）に帰（かえ）ってきている、ということから、彼（かれ）の出身地（しゅっしんち）北九州市（きたきゅうしゅうし）について話（はな）しました。北九州市（きたきゅうしゅうし）は福岡県（ふくおかけん）にありながら、実（じつ）は山口県（やまぐちけん）のすぐ隣（となり）、ということで、山口県（やまぐちけん）の魅力（みりょく）についても探（さぐ）りました。山口（やまぐち）はThe New York Timesでも取（と）り上（あ）げられた場所（ばしょ）ですが、実（じつ）は行（い）ったことがありません。どこに魅力（みりょく）があるのかを探（さぐ）りました。また北九州市（きたきゅうしゅうし）の成人式（せいじんしき）での特別（とくべつ）な文化（ぶんか）についても話（はな）しています。機会（きかい）があればぜひ訪（おとず）れてみてはいかがでしょうか？
A Japanese friend we met in Malaysia has actually returned to Japan, which led us to talk about his hometown, Kitakyushu City. Kitakyushu City is in Fukuoka Prefecture, but it’s right next to Yamaguchi Prefecture, so we also explored the charm of Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi has been featured in The New York Times, but we have never been there. We looked into what makes it so appealing. We also talked about the unique culture of Kitakyushu’s coming-of-age ceremonies. If you ever have the chance, why not visit these places?
