Michael Fantuz’ vision is fed by extensive travel and experience in aviation and exploration. His large-scale palette knife works invite the viewer above and into his aerial perspective on landscapes and cityscapes.
The paint is thickly applied, bold in colour, and based in Fantuz’ discipline to limit his tools to palette knives only. This forces an intuitive engagement with the colour and density of the materials over the minute precision that smaller brushes would afford. Both the knife stroke and viscosity determine an aesthetic that reflects movement and abstraction; the stroke is wider, with bold impasto edges. This invites attention to tone, hue, contrast, and a more open compositional focus, which Fantuz embraces. The subject is seen from a distance rather than in tight close-up. Bright contrasts evoke the dynamic light play across a broad perspective visible only from a distance.

PRIOR, I ATTENDED SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY - CARBONDALE, MAJORING IN AUDIO PRODUCTION WITH A MINOR IN SOCIOLOGY (AND MUSIC...LOL, BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY). I GREW UP PLAYING THE FLUTE IN MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MARCHING BAND AT ST. AILBE, SINGING IN TWO CHILDREN'S CHOIRS, AND PLAYING BASKETBALL YEAR ROUND FROM ABOUT AGES 6-18. I PLAYED RUGBY IN UNDERGRAD AND INJURED MY RIGHT SHOULDER, INHIBITING ME FROM PLAYING MY JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS AND SWITCHED MY MAJOR FROM SPORTS MEDIA BROADCASTING TO AUDIO PRODUCTION. LIFE HAS DEFINITELY SHIFTED ME FROM A CREATIVE TO AN ATHLETE BACK TO A CREATIVE.
RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN A GUEST SPEAKER AT PRATT INSTITUTE AND THE NEW SCHOOL TO DISCUSS MY ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF EXPERIENCING THE SENSES, GIVING ME A CHANCE TO SHARE MY ART WITH LEADING-EDGE CREATIVES.

Dalmas are a Manchester based rock band made up of singing drummer George Farrar, Jacob Maguire (guitar) and Augustus Clark (bass). After forming in the summer of 2018 the group started writing hard hitting stadium rock anthems about life's struggles, influenced by bands such as Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves and Foo Fighters. After releasing their latest single 'Jhm' in January 2021, the band have been championed by Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Music show, BBC Introducing, XS Manchester and Amazing Radio.
Because of Lockdown in the U.K. none of the band members are in the same location at the moment. This episode is derived from a series of recordings we did.
Dalmas's debut EP 'Stay' is set top be released in late March of 2021.

Philadelphia-based songwriter and composer Alex Kahn has weaved a strange path through diverse musical terrain. After making fuzzed-out pop gems with indie rock outfit Jackpot, Tiger, and penning jingles for cereal commercials, Kahn eventually started to release music under his own name. While working as a writer and producer at Frisbie Studios in NYC, he collaborated with artists such as Benji Hughes and Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, among others, contributing as a studio musician and co-writer.
Kahn’s latest release, “The Marble Jar”, combines furry guitars, spidery vocals, and dry wit to create soft, tender songs that both comfort and disturb. After the unexpected death of his father and two cross-country moves, Kahn returned home to redraw the map of an unrecognizable life. Oscillating between the bright jangle-pop of 1991 and the faint intimations of Elliott Smith, Kahn explores the raw pain of grief, the uncomfortable realities of close relationships, and the crisis of belonging. While the front half of the record leans into the comic absurdity of ordinary life, the back half plays like a string of adult lullabies about loss.

My Guests today, New Mexico artists (by way of the world) The Bellow and the Whale. We create to bring people together. To facilitate positive and constructive conversation between humans." The bellow & the whale is the artistic collaboration of musicians/visual artists Bianca Goyette and Julia Lee Norris. Their sound draws on various genres and styles but is heavily rooted in the traditions of soul and folk music, and is accented with a moderns day indie-pop feel. Together they use overlapping thematic elements (imagery and sound) to erode the distance between the way we choose to see the world versus what is actually there. They experiment with harmony and vocal timbre, pulling in a range of emotion, from joyful and powerful to mournful and haunting. Born in Chicago (the partnership, not the individuals), the duo has released 6 studio singles with a new one every 20th of the month for the year 2020. They recently released their first official music video for their single 'the same song,' a collaboration with brother/sister duo Josh and Sarah Anderson. B is a wild child, she is a dreamer, she is a cynic, she likes to move fast and looks back often. Julia Lee is quiet and unassuming; she is thoughtful, formulaic, and moves slowly and with purpose in a world she has carefully crafted. B came to Chicago by way of Montreal, New York, and DC before that. Julia Lee came from London, by way of Paris, and Buffalo before that. They came together in the middle, started making music in 2018, and never looked back.
