About Cheryl Sew Hoy:
Cheryl Sew Hoy is the CEO and Founder of Tiny Health, the leading microbiome health platform for families. Launched in 2022, Tiny Health’s Gut Health Test is the first-ever at-home gut microbiome test for moms and babies in the crucial first 1,000 days, using shotgun metagenomic sequencing.
Cheryl’s mission is to improve the health outcomes of our future generation and reverse the pediatric chronic condition crisis by empowering individuals to make evidence-based, personalized, informed dietary, nutritional and lifestyle choices. Cheryl’s perspectives, and Tiny Health’s success stories have been recently featured in the Washington Post, Techcrunch, Forbes, Fitt Insider, Fortune and many more.
Cheryl is an accomplished and repeat founder of multiple companies including a successful consumer software startup that was acquired by Walmart Labs in 2013. In 2020, Cheryl founded Tiny Health to take charge of her family’s microbiome health after giving birth to her 2 children, when she realized that early life microbiome imbalances are linked to many chronic conditions.
About Tiny Health:
Tiny Health is the first-ever at-home baby gut health testing company that helps families detect gut imbalances in the critical first 1,000 days and take action to avert long-term chronic health conditions. 1 in 2 children today have at least one chronic condition like eczema, allergies, asthma, metabolic disease, ADHD, etc. Early life gut imbalances are at the root cause of this rapidly rising pediatric epidemic because 80% of our immune system lies in the gut.
Since the launch of our flagship Pregnancy and Baby Gut Health Tests in April 2022, we have expanded our suite of tests to include adults, older children (ages 3-17) and vaginal health to address the microbiome at all stages of life.
Tiny Health’s patent pending microbiome health tests uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing and AI technology to generate precise recommendations on gut health for families, practitioners and research partners.
The company has raised a total of $13M and to date, over 25,000 families have trusted Tiny Health to correct imbalances in the gut and vaginal microbiome, and optimize their lifelong health.
The Tiny Health team includes leading microbiologists, scientists, and physicians with backgrounds from Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins, WashU, Stanford, Cornell, Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical), and UCSF.

Dr. Trillitye (Dr. Trill) Paullin, PhD, is a distinguished cellular and molecular biologist with a focus on the molecular components of human milk. She is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, currently serving her 19th year in the Army National Guard, and is the CEO and co-founder of Free to Feed. Dr. Trill's groundbreaking work in breastfeeding and food reactivity has garnered grant funding from renowned institutions, including the National Science Foundation. She has collaborated with renowned research institutions such as Stanford University and the University of Idaho, contributing significantly to the expanding body of research surrounding lactation. We all know that pregnancy and birth change us emotionally and physically, but getting comfortable sharing the details isn't something a lot of new parents do. In today's episode, you'll hear from four different newly postpartum moms as they share what the transition to postpartum has been like for them and how it has affected their image of self. These recordings are from The Sacramento Postpartum Body Project — a project created by Shari at Navigating Parenthood where she interviewed each new mama and Ronnie Joy of Joy Lifestyle Photography took photos of them as they were in that moment of postpartum with their babies.
