Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to wrap up your week and help you navigate this crazy little thing called life. This week, the fellas covered Chalmers' new found appreciation for meditation, Connor McDavid chasing 1000 points, Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, and a whole lot more.
The boys started the podcast by discussing the new studio and how a couple of shipping delays are making Tyler nervous about getting it done on time. But as you'll hear, no one heard the first part of the conversation because none of the microphones were turned on. Picking up where they left off, Chalmers confessed that he's now a meditator and revealed how it's impacting his life.
Changing gears, the guys looked at tomorrow's fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul and speculated what everyone thinks will happen. What's clear is that the older boys on the show think 58-year-old Tyson is being disrespected by younger folks who may not remember how devastating he used to be. Granted, Tyson isn't the fighter he was as a younger man, but if he catches Jake Paul with a clean punch, that could be all she wrote. Tyler, however, was willing to put his money where his mouth is with the backing of Jake Paul.
Turning the podcast toward the Oilers, the guys looked at Connor McDavid sitting only a single point away from 1,000 in his career, and even took guesses at how he'll pick up the point. If he does reach the milestone on Thursday against Nashville, the thing the guys wanted everyone to remember is that they should enjoy the moment. Even though we've all gotten used to Connor McDavid doing ridiculous things on an annual basis, this latest milestone is anything but normal.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not.
The boys kicked off the podcast by discussing an idea from Target in the USA: patrons can enjoy a beer while they're shopping. The boys then wondered if they would even want to spend more time in the grocery store or if they believed this could be an insurance issue waiting to happen.
Changing gears, the guys spent the next few minutes talking about the Nation Vacation at the end of the month and how the boys are excited about the 5KM run they organized for Denver. Baggedmilk, however, is thrilled to be sitting out that run and promises to meet the boys with a fresh beer when they cross the finish line.
Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, the boys discussed how great it was to watch the boys dismantle the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Given that the boys were struggling to score goals, is it too much to hope that the floodgates could open up a little bit? That said, there are still a couple of players — Nugent-Hopkins and Podkolzin, specifically — who are struggling mightily to get pucks in the net.
Finally, the fellas wrapped up the podcast with a discussion about Jeff Marek joining The Nation Network and how it's wild to think about how far TNN has come over the years. Needless to say, welcoming Marek into the family was a big moment for the company, and the guys are all excited to see what kind of content he produces with the MSM shackles coming off.

Today’s episode of The Real Life Podcast is going to have a bit of a different sound to it. The guys hit the road in an all new F-150 from our friends at Sherwood Ford The Giant and were joined by their friend Esky from the dealership, who is a die hard Oilers fan. They talked about his life as a fan and his thoughts on the team. He also walked them through some features on the truck they were driving.
They also talked about last night’s loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. It featured a late blown lead, a weak goal from Stuart Skinner, and some tough plays by Evan Bouchard, which had Jay smirking. They talked about the public perception around the team right now and why there’s no reason to be concerned.
They also talked a little betting before returning the truck to the dealership and wrapping up the episode!

A fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to kickstart your week. Today's show had Tyler, Chalmers and Wanye sitting down to talk about the latest surrounding the Edmonton Oilers, their lives and the world of sports. To kick things off, Chalmers talked about why his voice was so raspy and then led to some discussion about his youth sports. From there, they talked about the Oilers' big two wins since their last episode including a massive victory over the Calgary Flames, which sounded like a home game on the broadcast.
They then touched on the fact that Connor McDavid could be nearing a return much earlier than previously anticipated. He won't be back for tonight's game however, which is on Amazon Prime and that led to a whole different conversation about how to actually watch the game. From there, they talked about their best bets for tonight and also they mixed in some NFL talk from the past weekend. Tyler also cut his hand and told that story, which Chalmers thought was fake.

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week. On today's podcast, the fellas worked through their favourite Halloween snacks, old bar stories, social media influencers, and a whole lot more.
The guys kicked off the podcast with a discussion about everyone's Halloween plans and approaches to the annual candy grab. From cruising around with their young kids to Tyler being dressed as a cat to the best Halloween they've experienced, the Halloween talk was all over the map. Somehow, talking about costumes led Jay and Wanye to talk about the first business they started, running pub crawls.
Changing gears, the guys turned the podcast toward the Oilers, as both Noah Philp and Drake Caggiula will make their season debuts with Connor McDavid out of the lineup for the next couple of weeks. While everyone is excited to see what these two can do in the lineup, the conversation turned to social media influencers and how there's a subgenre of creators who do nothing but comment on what's happening with more popular creators. It's an interesting space on the Internet, but one that's growing quickly.
Finally, the guys worked through a couple of bets ahead of Thursday's Oilers game and wondered how the team will respond with Connor McDavid on the shelf. Needless to say, the boys aren't exactly feeling too confident given how poorly Monday's game against Columbus went with McDavid on the shelf. Even though there are still so many good players on the team, the days aren't quite as bright with the captain down and out.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get into the rest of the work week.
The skeleton crew kicked off the Monday episode by complaining about the co-hosts not being in attendance for the podcast. If there's one thing the boys are good at, it's piling on their teammates when they're not there to defend themselves. Getting back to business, however, the conversation turned to Friday's win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and how it was a big night on the ice and after the game.
After the game on Friday, the Oilers added Craig MacTavish and Randy Gregg's names to the Ring of Honour, which led to a conversation about some of our favourite memories of those two players. Wanye then told a story about writing a letter to Dr. Gregg when he was a kid, and how the former Cup winner actually took the time to write him back and how meaningful that letter was to a young hockey fan.
Changing gears, the podcast discussed a wide range of topics, from the Lil Durk arrest to food trucks to the World Series to bad tribute statues and everything in between. Starting with the state of hip hop, the guys walked through the insanity of the Lil Durk arrest and how some of these rappers just can't escape the lifestyle. We then discussed the Dwayne Wade statue reveal from this past weekend, and how it could arguably be one of the worst ones ever made. That led the guys to wonder how much prep the Oilers will have to do to prepare for the McDavid and Draisaitl statues that will hopefully come down the line.

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week. The boys covered a wide range of topics on the second episode of the week, so if you're looking for 200 topics crammed into a single hour, this is the episode for you.
The guys started the second episode of Real Life of the week with a conversation about Chalmers rolling into the studio with a bottle of water, a sizeable departure from his usual rye and coke. That led the guys to talk about Chalmers' sleeping habits and how he often turns to Candy Crush to help lull him to sleep. Talking about sleep led the fellas to discuss their night routine, including another discussion about duvets and pillow selection.
From there, the podcast really fell off the rails. Not only were the guys unable to stick to one topic for more than a few seconds, but they also fell into more than a few rabbit holes all over the map. From Halloween costumes to studio upgrades to bodily functions, the middle section of the podcast was a complete disaster in the best possible way. If you love randomness on the podcast, you're in for a treat.
Turning the podcast back to sports, the guys worked through a list of topics in the Keep It or Cut It segment. From new power play lines to Canada's jerseys to Bronny James' NBA debut to the Clippers' new stadium in Los Angeles, the sports talk was the first time the boys could stay on track. As you'll hear, the boys had plenty to talk about when it came to basically any sport you could imagine.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week.
The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about the brand-new Nation Beer and how we'll have some upcoming watch-along events at Odd Company in the coming weeks. If you're looking for an opportunity to get together, we'll have some dads on the calendar coming very soon.
Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys discussed Saturday's loss to the Stars and how, given how well the team played, the result was incredibly disappointing. Since the game went off the rails despite a strong performance by the skaters, many Oilers fans pointed their finger squarely at Stuart Skinner and his early-season struggles. While it's true that Stu is fighting it right now, there are also a handful of his teammates who are in the same boat.
Changing gears, we looked ahead at the Nation Vacation and how Jay is getting the Cleveland quarterback swap he was looking for despite it coming as a result of a horrific injury to Deshaun Watson. While happy that Watson won't be the quarterback for the Browns any longer, Jay was quick to clarify that he wanted a quarterback swap but did not want Watson to get hurt to make it happen. Ether way, this will make for an interesting angle to the football portion of the Nation Vacation.

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week.
The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about Thanksgiving and Chalmers's being upset that he only got one big meal this year. Unfortunately, this was the second year in a row where Chalmers didn't get any leftovers, and he needed to let that frustration out in the opening few minutes of the show. Yet, even with the chance to grab leftovers for himself, Chalmers' laziness outweighed his love of food.
Turning the show back to the Oilers, Tyler talked about his birthday game and how stressful it was when he thought he would have to eat cat food again. Not only did he think he would have to eat cat food after the Oilers fell behind by a pair of goals, but his cat food concerns even prevented him from enjoying the first part of the comeback.
Sticking with Tyler's birthday, he showed up to Nation HQ in a new Cleveland Guardians jersey, and that kicked off a chirp fest about why he wants to get Erik Sabrowski's name on the back. Interestingly enough, Chalmers accidentally confessed that he doesn't get anyone's name on the back of a jersey if that player is younger than him. As expected, Chalmers was a man on an island with this hot take.
Changing gears, Chalmers offered up his annual home prep guide for the changing seasons. From raking the leaves before the snow comes to taking your hose bib off to prevent leaks in the house, it's always great to get reminders on what we need to do to get through the winter without incident. Even though the fellas do this segment every single year, the boys still had plenty of ridiculous questions about the process.

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week.
The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look at the new Nation Beer that just launched from our partners at Odd Company. Excited about trying the new beer, Chalmers cracked one and gave his first impression of how delicious this new version was. As you'll hear, the new Nation Beer is Chalmers-approved.
Turning the podcast to last night's Oilers game, the boys walked through the season opener and how everyone feels after the boys got dusted 6-0 by the Winnipeg Jets. As much as the result was disastrous, everything leading up to puck drop was so much fun to watch and gave the boys the juice they needed to get back in the swing of things.
Digging into the game itself, the guys gave their takes on what went wrong and what everyone thought of the new guys. Unfortunately, with everyone having as rough a night as the Oilers did on night one, it's tough to evaluate the new guys accurately since so much went wrong. Long story short, no one was impressive in the season opener, including the new guys.
Finally, the boys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including an argument about tater tots vs. hash browns and a recap of the final weeks of Big Brother. Despite this season of Big Brother ending as poorly as the boys believe it is, everyone had plenty of takes on who should win and why. Thankfully, a winner will mercifully be named on Sunday and the Big Brother conversation will finally be over.

The NHL regular season is right around the corner and to get into the spirit of things by talking about some hockey. To begin, they gave their thoughts on the newly released Amazon documentary. Chalmers watched the first few episodes and talked about how it made a couple of players look really good. Wanye only watched the episodes that involved the Oilers and gave some thoughts on how Leon Draisaitl came off.
From there, they talked a little betting for our friends at Bet365 where they hit on the NFL weekend, the MLB playoffs and the odds for the Oilers for their first game of the year.
Tyler then quizzed the guys on some offseason moves from around the NHL to really get them ready for the first day of games tomorrow. Chalmers failed miserably while Jay was able to run the table. This also somehow led to a weird confession from Tyler.
To wrap things up, Chalmers provided an update on the story that he shared last episode that involves his wifes long lost sister. They also gave some fresh Nation related announcements that you won't want to miss!

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week.
The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with some playoff baseball talk, including which teams are acceptable to cheer for with the Jays failing to make the postseason. Considering some of the storylines happening in the baseball postseason, Tyler offered his takes on who we should be rooting for and who we should be cheering against.
Changing gears, the guys kicked off some hockey talk with a discussion about the Jeremy Swayman situation in Boston and how that contract negotiation is turning toxic in a real hurry. Seeing as Swayman and Stuart Skinner are the same age and in nearly the same situation, Oilers fans should be watching this situation very carefully since this could become a direct comparable at contract time.
Midway through the goalie contract conversation, Jay walked into the podcast studio with a jar of pickles and completely derailed the conversation. After a quick pickle food review, the guys pivoted into a conversation about what flavour and type of chips reign supreme. As far as pointless chats go, the chip debate was as pointless as it gets.
The podcast then got real when Chalmers told a story about his wife's secret sibling that no one knew about. As you'll hear, the story of having a lost sibling connect after all these years of not knowing each other is almost unbelievable but truly exciting. The funny part about the revelation was that Chalmers wasn't sure if the boys would want to hear the story even though it's probably the realest Real Life story ever.
Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Thursday episode with another round of Keep It or Cut It. Tyler pitched a few different scenarios for the boys to keep or cut, including some MLB playoff talk, the Amazon Prime NHL docuseries, and whether or not Noah Philp has done enough in the pre-season to earn a spot with the Edmonton Oilers.

Oilers futures, NFL football talk, and the #NationVacation to Denver
The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about concession prices after the Utah Hockey Club released the prices for the upcoming season. If you haven't seen the graphic, Utah will be offering some very cheap food options, which is a far cry from what we've seen here in Edmonton at Rogers Place.
Changing gears, the fellas spent the next few minutes talking about the Nation Vacation to Denver and how the boys are getting very excited about getting everyone together for a weekend in the mountains. If you're still thinking about whether or not to come for the journey, this segment could be the push it takes to pull the trigger. As you'll hear, the guys have some big sports plans for that whole weekend.
Turning back to the Oilers, the boys looked at a few future bets for the upcoming season. From points totals to predicting goal totals for Jeff Skinner, everyone is clearly feeling bullish about the Oilers doing great things. On the flip side, Baggedmilk reengaged the argument from Friday's episode of ONR about whether or not the Janmark, Henrique, and Brown trio is worthy of being called a third line or not.
Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a look back at some of the old Oilers line combinations from opening day in years past. Needless to say, the Oilers' line combos weren't quite as juiced up as they are these days, and it's honestly incredible that Edmonton fans were able to drink the Kool-Aid at that time. In the end, today's episode of Real Life probably had the most sports talk of any episode in recent memory.

It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week. On today's episode, the guys talked about the Nation's fantasy football league, the Oilers' pre-season, and the Oilers appearing on Amazon Prime's upcoming docu-series.
The boys kicked off today's podcast with a conversation about the Oilers' pre-season and how it's been a slog to get through these eight tune-up games. Not only is the pre-season the worst time on the NHL calendar, but having to grind through these meaningless nights always feels like they take forever.
Sticking with hockey, the boys spent a few minutes talking about the Amazon docu-series that's coming out soon, and how the Oilers clips have the boys all fired up to see the curtain get peeled back a little bit. However, knowing how the Stanley Cup Final went, Baggedmilk thinks it may take a minute before the heartbreak subsides and he's able to watch it.
Changing gears, Tyler walked Chalmers through some shenanigans that are happening in the Nation HQ fantasy football league after Woz made a trade that was as shocking as it was bad. Trying to play devil's advocate, Chalmers did his best to defend Woz's move, but even he couldn't keep the charade going for very long as he started getting more details.
Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Thursday episode with a random collection of topics, including Chalmers' hatred of self checkouts at Home Depot, some betting talk on the weekend's football games, and why this season of Big Brother is starting to get very boring. As always, the final 15 minutes of the Thursday episode of Real Life was all over the map, and probably the most fun the boys had this past week.

The boys are back with a fresh Monday edition of The Real Life Podcast as they sat down for a quick 30 minutes editon of the pod. On the heels of the Oilers first pre-season game, the group started the show off by talking about the first hockey game of the season and what stood out to them. For Jay, he got to bring his daughter to the game and shared a story of their quest to find Hunter The Lynx. They also talked about a few players that stood out to them in both good and bad ways.
The bigger story though was the concession prices. Beers are going up, but it's not as bad at the crew thought it would be. They shared some fun strategies about how to maximize your enjoyment of a game in downtown Edmonton. They wrapped it up by talking about the Elks loss this weekend, which Tyler took in down at Commonwealth Stadium. The guys Grey Cup bit took a big hit, but they're not giving up. They also talked some NFL and at the very end, addressed the viral McDavid video from The Stanley Cup Final.

It's Thursday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to massage your earholes.
The guys started the Thursday episode of the show with a conversation about collectables that somehow came about after Tyler told the boys that he was making a trip to Ikea. Somehow, hearing that Tyler is shopping for a shelf inspired the boys to engage in a 25-minute conversation about everything from garage sales to shoe sales to Chalmers' dream of being on American Pickers.
Changing gears, Tyler wanted to talk about Oilers training camp and how his new bit on Twitter didn't land with some people who didn't understand the joke. Seeing as we like to argue about line combinations as a fanbase, Tyler had the idea of tweeting out ridiculous takes that were clear jokes, only to open his notifications and see a bunch of folks calling him an idiot.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a collection of topics that were all over the map. From Robin Lehner missing his medicals with the Golden Knights to what's happening with tonight's Thursday Night Football to whether you'd spend a year in jail for $5.5 million, the last 15 minutes of Thursday's show were pure chaos. Are you surprised? Of course not.

It's Monday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to help you start your week. This week, the guys looked back at NFL Sunday, ahead at the Grey Cup, and wondered how
The boys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about this past weekend in the NFL after Baggedmilk rolled into the studio wearing a new Vikings jersey and hat. Despite the chirps about the outfit, BM was looking fresh, and no one could handle the sizzle. Talking about the Vikings led the guys to talk about some of the best sports line nicknames that they can remember from over the years.
Changing gears, the guys talked about the Young Stars Tournament that happened in Penticton this past weekend and how the Oilers' rookies have struggled immensely against the Canucks and Flames. If you haven't been paying attention, Edmonton has fared poorly against its peers at the tournament, and some people are concerned about the future of the depth chart.
Sticking with the Oilers, the guys spent some time on what they think the concession prices will be when the new NHL season starts. If beers were $16.50 during the playoffs, is it reasonable to expect the price to go up to $18 or more? As a result, Baggedmilk asked folks to send us a note about what everyone thinks is the most egregious price increase on concession items.
Finally, the boys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics that were all over the map. From betting on the Elks to win the Grey Cup to Commonwealth Stadium upgrades to whether or not the podcast should pivot to being a CFL show, the final segment from the Monday epi

It's Thursday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to massage your earholes.
The guys started the podcast with a quick recap of the Monday episode of Real Life now that the gang was all back together. Seeing as Baggedmilk, Tyler, and Jay missed the last podcast, Wanye and Chalmers walked through what the boys missed since the boys were able to bring in their childhood friend as a pinch hitter.
From there, Tyler was finally able to reveal to Jay and Chalmers that his team cheated at the Oilersnation Open and that the two playoff holes were completely unnecessary. Now that the boys know about Tyler's house of lies, the question becomes whether or not he should have to do both punishments. Being the good sport he is, Yaremchuk humbly accepts whatever is to come.
Changing gears, Chalmers talked about how this is the best time of year for sports now that the NFL is back and baseball is heading into its playoff stretch, and how it doesn't get better than having everything happen all at once. Sticking with football, Chalmers went on a rant about how the NFL should be more transparent with player injuries, given how much betting money is put down around games these days.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a collection of topics that were all over the map. From Baggedmilk revealing his NFL allegiance to what's happening with Deshaun Watson's standing with the Cleveland Browns to why you need to join the fellas on the Nation Vacation to Denver, the last 15 minutes of Thursday's show were pure chaos. Are you surprised? Of course not.

For this episode Wanye and Chalmers brought on childhood friend Mike Fugleberg and reminisced about growing up together and all the wild parties that Mike would throw at his house.
Chalmers had his chance to talk about the Oilersnation Open, giving his perspective on the tournament. He also gave a shoutout to Erik Sabrowski and how he was making his MLB debut at the same time as the Nation Real Life Fantasy Football Draft.
To cap it off they discussed about the NFL returning and Tyreek Hill's arrest.

It's Thursday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to massage your earholes.
The guys started the podcast with a tribute to Johnny Gaudreau. The hockey world lost one of its brightest stars last week, and the story is so heartbreaking in every possible way. Even though it's impossible to make sense of this loss, it's been wonderful to read the tributes to the Gaudreau brothers and learn a little more about how incredible they were as human beings.
Changing gears, the guys walked through the Leon Draisaitl extension that came down on Tuesday. Not only did the Oilers find a way to lock in one of their biggest stars to a max-term deal, but the fact that he was so happy to stay in Edmonton is a detail that makes this extension so much more special. Needless to say, the Oilers organization has come a long way from the days of losing their stars because the team couldn't afford to pay them.
Next up, the guys walked through some of the best stories from Friday's Oilersnation Open, including Tyler's cheating story and how it's a secret that everyone kept under wraps until today. As you'll hear, the tournament was ripe with shenanigans, and it's going to be fantastically funny when two of the podcast hosts find out what actually happened.
Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a collection of topics that were all over the map. From the Chase money glitch to Wanye trying to buy a Nail Yakupov jersey to Cody Ceci's sad interview on the What Chaos podcast, the last 15 minutes of Thursday's show were pure chaos. Are you surprised? Of course not.
