  • At long last, we finally have a director for the upcoming Tom Holland MCU Spider-Man 4! Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director - Destin Daniel Cretton - will be helming the movie which will reportedly head into production in early 2025. This comes just a year after he departed directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but it seems like he may have gotten a bit of an upgrade with the highly anticipated Spider-Man sequel. No plot details have yet surfaced but it seems like Zendaya will also be reprising her role as MJ in Spider-Man 4 and that the studio is moving fast on this one. I break down the news and my thoughts in this episode! Make sure to let me know what you think of the choice on the Spotify Poll!

  • Hey everyone, welcome back to another review here on MOVIE Morning. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the follow-up to the Tim Burton classic 'Beetlejuice', has now hit theaters worldwide. Does the sequel have the classic potential of the original or is it another unnecessary and bland legacy sequel? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review!

  • Hey everyone, what was that?! The first official teaser for A Minecraft Movie, the first feature adaptation of the legendary and popular video game, was released by WB a few hours ago and… well, huh? There’s a lot to discuss when it comes to this teaser including how we feel about the live-action/animated hybrid world, the casting, sense of humor, hinted plot and most importantly, what on earth is going on with Jason Momoa’s hair. I played Minecraft casually when I was a lot younger so I’ve got a fair amount of nostalgia and connection to this property. This episode contains my initial reaction after seeing the teaser for A Minecraft Movie. Let me know what you all thought of the trailer on the Spotify Poll!

  • Hey everyone, we have some BREAKING NEWS from the land of the DC Universe, now over at DC Studios with Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. As reported earlier today by scooper Nexus Point News, and later corroborated by reliable reporter Jeff Sneider, Josh Brolin has received an offer to star in the DCU series - Lanterns. This show was pitched as a True Detective style Green Lantern show set on Earth, where the two Green Lanterns of Hal Jordan and John Stewart will be investigating a mystery in the American heartland. It's also been said that this show will involve a terrifying mystery that ties into the larger story of the DCU. So, how likely is it that Brolin takes the role and what are my thoughts on him playing the iconic superhero role of Hal Jordan (Green Lantern)? Find out in this breakdown!

  • Hey everyone, the latest attempt to revive the Terminator franchise - the Netflix anime Terminator Zero - has arrived. It comes from Mattson Tomlin, co-writer of The Batman - Part II, who has plans for future seasons of this show as well. T2 is one of my favorite movies of all-time, probably top 3. Therefore, I will always be interested in what this franchise has to offer, even though it has disappointed me time and time again since I first watched T2. Is Terminator Zero the best thing the franchise has put out since T2? Find out now as today, I'll be giving you my review of season 1 of Terminator Zero, without spoilers.

Synopsis: As society threatens to collapse, a daring warrior and a driven scientist grapple with personal struggles, all while trying to evade a ruthless cyborg. - Netflix

  • Hey everyone, a couple of hours ago, Universal revealed the first look at the upcoming Jurassic World film, now titled Jurassic World Rebirth. This includes the first few still images, a new title (obviously), all the confirmed cast, confirmation of a release date and the first plot details. In this episode, I'll be breaking down all the news about this movie that have been revealed by the major trades and why I'm actually excited for it.

  • Hey Sonic fans, at long last, the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has dropped online. I'd be lying if I said I was a huge mega-fan of Sonic, the games or these movies, but I've enjoyed them enough as fun kids movies. For some of you all though, I know how much you love these movies so as a casual fan, I wanted to step in and share my initial reaction to this first trailer for the upcoming December release. Enjoy and make sure to let me know your thoughts by selecting an option in the poll!

  • Hey everyone, we have some more apparent "news" regarding the MCU's Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland. It has been a long wait to get an official, major update regarding this highly-anticipated fourth entry, which is also the sequel to one of the biggest movies of all-time - Spider-Man: No Way Home. Some want more Tobey & Andrew while others want a grounded, classic Spider-Man tale. The latter is a type of story that, some argue, Holland's Peter Parker has not received yet. Sometimes reliable scooper DanielRPK has revealed on his Patreon that the movie will begin shooting early next year for a July 2026 release date. He also claims it will 'likely be a multiverse story.' In this episode, I break down the news revealed by the insider regarding Spider-Man 4 and why I do not think it bodes well for the film!

  • Hey everybody, Inside Out 2 - the biggest box-office film of 2024 so far - arrived on digital platforms for home viewing this past week. Because of its incredible success at the box-office, I thought it would be fun to celebrate its unique medium of telling stories: ANIMATION. I, like all of you, have been watching and loving animated movies since I was VERY young. Finally, after 5 years of doing this podcast, it is time to rank my top 10 FAVORITE animated movies of all-time. Yes, this is a FAVORITES list so just because YOUR favorite isn't on this list, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it or that it shouldn't be on your list. Some of these films are ones I grew up with and others are one that have released fairly recently, leaving a HUGE impression on me as a film fan. For this list, more so than many others, I would LOVE to hear your lists so let me know your top 3 favorite animated films, whether western or anime like Studio Ghibli, in the comments!

  • Last week, Deadpool & Wolverine became the latest movie to join the so coveted billion-dollar club. It is the 55th film to make $1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office and the 8th to do so that has been released in the 2020s. With unforeseen circumstances like COVID and the Hollywood strikes of 2023, this decade got off to a bit of a slow start when it came to film earnings. Today, I'm going to be ranking all 8 films that have grossed over a billion dollars and released since 2020 from the worst to the best! Enjoy... and make sure to let me know what your favorite of these 8 films are in the Poll section on Spotify!

  • Hello, my fellow Alien fans. Alien: Romulus has now hit theaters! This is easily one of the most hotly anticipated films of the year because of its franchise throwbacks and its very talented horror director, Fede Álvarez. The reactions to this movie have been interesting, particularly surrounding a few very surprising decisions made in the back half of this story and regarding the Alien franchise connections. Well, it’s now time to compare Romulus to the perilous 6 entries of this franchise. Today, I’m going to be ranking all 7 of the standalone Alien movies (not including AVP) from the worst to the best. This ranking will include SPOILERS from every movie in this franchise, with the exception of Alien: Romulus as it just released in theaters. Enjoy!

    Movies to rank:

    Alien (1979)

    Aliens (1986)

    Alien 3 (1992)

    Alien Resurrection (1997)

    Prometheus (2012)

    Alien: Covenant (2017)

    Alien: Romulus (2024)

  • Hey everyone, Alien: Romulus has now been out in theaters for a few days and, surprisingly enough, I actually have a few spoiler moments I want to discuss in more detail in this film. This won’t be a full play-by-play like my spoiler review for Deadpool & Wolverine but rather just touching on a few moments that are worth discussing that couldn’t really be mentioned due to spoilers in my spoiler-free review. I’ll mainly be covering the highlight scares, connections to the franchise (especially the first) and the third act twist. It should go without saying that if you haven’t seen Romulus, don’t listen to this spoiler discussion if you don’t want to be spoiled. If you have, stick around and enjoy hearing my SPOILER-FILLED thoughts on the movie!

  • Hey everyone, one of my most anticipated movies of the year - Fede Álvarez's Alien: Romulus - has now hit theaters. It is obviously the premier theatrical release of August and it's a film I was very excited for because I love the first two Alien movies but I'm also a big fan of Fede's horror movies. The trailers looked VERY promising and after the high-brow mumbo-jumbo that was Ridley Scott's two Alien prequels, it felt like the right time to take an Alien movie back to basics. Is Alien: Romulus one of the best horror movies of 2024 or is it a disappointing and safe Alien entry? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review!

  • Hey everyone, The Umbrella Academy is back with its latest and final season. Overall, I think this show has been a bit of a mixed bag, with some AMAZING moments and characters but some very messy storytelling. That, in my opinion, has been pretty consistent over all three of the previous seasons. Well, the show has now wrapped, with season 4 dropping on Netflix just recently. Does the final seaosn stick the landing? Find out in this SPOILER-FILLED review!

Synopsis: "The Hargreeves siblings have scattered after the climactic showdown at the Hotel Oblivion led to a complete reset of their timeline. Stripped of their powers, each is left to fend for themselves and find a new normal – with wildly varying degrees of success.

"Yet, the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. Their father Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire. A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming. As these strange new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy must come together one last time – and risk upsetting the shaky peace they’ve all endured so much to secure – to finally set things right." - Netflix

  • Hey everyone, the latest video game adaptation - Borderlands - has been released in theaters. I have never really had much interest in the games but from reading the premise, I always thought a movie adaptation could be fun. That being said, the behind the scenes nightmare that we've heard this film turned into and the constant delays (the movie BEGAN PRODUCTION in April 2021) kind of killed any excitement. And unfortunately, the trailers did not help. So does Borderlands fall victim to the infamous video game movie curse or is it a win in the vein of something like Gran Turismo or The Last of Us? Find out in this review!

  • Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing better than I am because I just wasted 3 hours and 20+ minutes watching the Director’s Cut of Rebel Moon - Part 1, which has now been retitled ‘Chapter One: Chalice of Blood’ for this release. I was on record as hating Part 2 of Rebel Moon back in April but I was one of the rare few who actually dug the first part, despite its insane array of problems. That being said, for the last 8 months, these new R-rated cuts have been sold as ‘Zack Snyder’s true vision’ and an ‘alternative universe’ version of this story so against my better judgement (because of my issues with the PG-13 versions), I decided to give the first part of the director’s cut a try. I did that only to learn that it’s basically the same movie… with extra gore effects and even more unnecessary scenes that add no characterization to any of the cardboard cut-out characters that make out this cast. As a fan of Zack Snyder, this was very disappointing so enjoy this RANT of how Netflix and Zack Snyder not only ruined the release of these Rebel Moon films but also duped us into watching them for a second time. I’ll also be explaining why the Director’s Cut is a wast of time and basically the same movie. Enjoy and believe the title!

  • Hey everyone, M. Night Shyamalan is back! While I have not been a big fan of his work in recent years (since Split), it is undeniable that he makes some of the more interesting movies out there and I always appreciate going to see his movies in theaters. Trap seemed like a great concept which is why it was one of my most anticipated movies of the back half of 2024. I'm also a big Josh Hartnett fan. Is Trap a return to form for M. Night or does it continue his streak of poorly-executed, contained thrillers? Find out in this review!

    Trap:

Written & Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan

Produced by: Marc Bienstock, Ashwin Rajan, M. Night Shyamalan

    Executive Producer: Steven Schneider

    Co-Producer: Jeff Robinson

    Editing by: Noemi Katharina Preiswerk

    Production Design by: Debbie DeVilla

    Costume Design by: Caroline Duncan

Cast: Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka, Hayley Mills

Synopsis: A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.

  • Hey everyone, Batman: Caped Crusader - the latest attempt at making a Batman animated series - has finally arrived on Prime Video. I feel like it has been an ENDLESS wait to see this series; I've been hyped to see this show ever since they announced it YEARS back and that it would be from Matt Reeves as well as, creator of Batman: The Animated Series (the greatest animated show of all-time), Bruce Timm. While I was concerned about the deviations from classic Batman lore initially, the approach to making a retro crime-noir series definitely intrigued me. And I was very, VERY concerned when we heard WB was be considering cancelling this show but luckily, it was picked up by Prime Video. So, does Batman: Caped Crusader - season 1 match the level of quality of some of the greatest Batman animated series out there or is it one of the weaker iterations? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review!

Synopsis: In the grim Gotham City, affluent philanthropist Bruce Wayne goes beyond his humane capabilities and transforms into an enigmatic figure, Batman; his crusade for justice brings in unexpected allies, but his actions also lead to perilous consequences.

  • Hey everyone, with a new installment in the long-running (Fox) X-Men franchise, I thought it would be fun to pause and take time to rank all 14 X-Men adjacent films that have been released theatrically! Deadpool & Wolverine is, obviously, a strange addition to this canon as it was made by Marvel Studios rather than Fox but it still uses a lot of the characters from that franchise. This worst to best ranking will include SPOILERS for every film on this list with the exception of the latest one, Deadpool & Wolverine, as it just released. I hope you all enjoy listening to this ranking as this franchise has a very, VERY special place in my heart, despite its myriad of problems, and I hope you all enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine!
    Movies to rank:
    X-Men (2000)
    X2: X-Men United (2003)
