To me, Linda is in that cutting edge of the generation of women in the 70's that exercised their rights to be treated as equals. So fascinating to listen to her journey - the things we all take for granted now, she had to stand strong against the current - keeping her maiden name, living with her boyfriend instead of marrying him. . . it was really a wonderful pleasure to talk to her. If you want to hear more about Linda, she has another great conversation with her daughter, Morgan, (guest on Miss Tweetie's parents: Welcome Intensity from October 28) here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-working-mother-experience/id1562566181?i=1000559190418

Matt is a fellow songwriter/composer who has raised two great kids. He may be the first interview I've done where I've never met the kids, I just know the parent. There is no doubt in my mind that his kids are awesome. We have a wonderful conversation AND, he brings his guitar and plays us a tune! Check out Matt's other music here: https://mattburd.bandcamp.com/

I had a mission inviting Melba back to the podcast. I wanted to shift the listener's perspective that she can be intimidating. She does have a straight-forward confidence, but if you listen to her words instead of focusing on her intensity, you will hear that her life is not always easy. If you follow her on Instagram, you'll see the many dimensions of her endeavours. This influencer's original interview, "Resilience", was my inaugural episode. Now we get down to it about life's trials and tribulations and her approach to managing them. Check out her offerings at https://bownesssoapworks.com/ where you can find her soap, her pottery, plus her amazing workshops.

My Mom raised 4 children and built a successful career as a piano teacher and member of the piano teaching community, sitting on many local and provincial boards in many roles, including president. She was born just outside New York City a few years before WWII. Boy, has she seen a LOT of changes. It was really neat hearing her perspective on our modern world, as well as the a challenges and struggles of parents of any generation. It was fun to get to sit down and chat with her.

Rose is open and direct about her life, its wins and struggles and particularly her aptitude for taking a problem and doing what needs to be done to move forward. She applies this to all of her life and has been successful as a mother and entrepreneur. Certainly she has struggled and talks honestly about it, yet she moves forward with intention and intensity. I highly recommend her services if you are even THINKING about separation: https://www.caimcoaching.com/original AND check out her Facebook group: 'Divorce by Design'. She will guide you through while keeping the conflict low and the finances in check.

Angela is a gifted teacher, guide and confidant to the children who have had the good fortune to work with her. She may not have children of her own, but she has many interesting perspectives for parents, and seems to recognize how hard parenting must be. She is open about her own mental health struggles and is an inspiration to anyone who has wondered 'why they're here' and if they'll ever figure that out. You can find her at https://www.angelacavar.com/ My daughter has worked with her and I highly recommend!

Jess brings a magical approach to grounded parenting. Also a former early-childhood educator, this amazing woman has been pursuing presence for a number of years now. There's nothing like parenting to challenge those practices. Jess also guides and instructs others to use breathing & grounding practices to help them learn to make a quick shift in those tough moments, even with a 2 and 4 year old!

Julie has a kaleidoscope of exposure when it comes to parenting. Starting out as a school teacher, not only has she raised her own two children, she has been a parenting coach & mentor for over 20 years. She has also had a life long involvement in the arts as a singer & eventually a coach, which now includes working with children & families. You have heard her on the radio, either talking about parenting OR in classical music recordings. What a breadth of knowledge & wisdom! You can find her at parentmentornow.com. Rita is a great Mom who brings a solid foundation to her family, while she learns how to find her own endeavours as her children grow more and more independent. We talk a lot about balancing everything that comes with raising tweens & teens. Plus, we talk about finding your support mechanisms when you don't have local family to help out. It was a great conversation despite the fact that it took 2 takes and was further delayed by one week, AND I had a microphone failure that affects the sound quality. . . but despite all of MY fails, Rita's words are well worth waiting for!

Ben & I talk about navigating divorce as well as supporting our children when there needs seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Many changes in our lives happen gradually but sometimes big things come along that create bigger shifts. Hence, the title Metamorphosis - on one hand, metamorphosis is a natural evolution but it also tends to be an extreme change. Ben has been through a few but his son has also experienced his own metamorphosis which turned him into a fully immersed motorcycle racer. Sonia is a wealth of knowledge as a mother & a small business-woman - AND she is also a piano & early childhood teacher, just like me! So we have a lot to talk about. We worked hard to keep our conversation around universal subjects for parents, but we can't help but get a little into the music side of things as well. Look for her offerings of piano lessons & early-childhood music @fortemusicstudiocalgary.
