Staff Sgt. Bryan C. Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright, and Sgt. La David T. Johnson (U.S. Army photos
There has been a lot of talk about how the President should address Gold Star families when he has to make one of the hardest calls anyone has to do. Today I talk about how the media and politicians are losing sight of the real story which is that these 4 brave men are heroes! The circus that has been created around who said what is an embarrassment and disgrace to the service these 4 men did for our country. We need to focus on the REAL story and honor these men, and ALL people that sacrifice so much in order for us to enjoy the freedoms we have. Listen in and see if you agree.

Bren and I have a lot of fun on this show but we do have some serious subjects that we do like to cover. We also love it when we get the opportunity to speak to veterans about their experiences and today we have the honor of having Maj. Scott Huesing on the podcast!
Maj. Huesing is a retired United States Marine Corps Infantry Major with 24 years of honorable service, both enlisted and as a commissioned officer. During his career spanning 10 deployments, he operated in over 60 countries worldwide. Throughout his numerous deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Horn of Africa he planned, led, and conducted hundreds of combat missions under some of the most austere and challenging conditions.
Scott is a published author since 2005. His upcoming book, Echo in Ramadi, (February 2018, Regnery) is a ten-month snapshot in time that changed the face of operations on the battlefield; a captivating story of Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines during the Second Battle of Ramadi in support of the Multi National Forces (MNF) Surge Strategy in 2006. His true-life account provides keen insights into what may be an unfamiliar world to readers, but very familiar to those, like Scott, who lived it and endured this historic fight. Echo in Ramadi was written to honor the sacrifices and spirit of his Marines and the families they supported – it is his tribute to them and his honor to tell this great story. Readers will feel the pain, emotion, laughter, intensity, and friction that Scott describes in unvarnished detail.
Tune in and hear how his experiences helped him not only write this book, but also start the Save the Brave foundation and help other numerous charities that help veterans face challenges once they leave the service.
Please visit the following websites for more info on Maj. Huesing and some of the foundations he works with.

We have been hearing a lot about how this younger generation is demanding that the U.S. should have free education, health care, and so on. Today Bren and I discuss this topic and why we don't think these people realize what free really means. We also have a BIG announcement on the future of the show!

Bren and I go back and discuss where we were on that faithful day. Even though it was a day filled with tragedy, it also brought American's together. It didn't matter what race, religion, ethnicity, or sex you were, American's united and helped each other. Why does it take a disaster to bring us together?? Listen in and hopfully we can all change that.

Bren and I are back! While we were gone, Houston, Texas was hit with a major storm and is almost underwater. While we salute the thousands of first responders and unsung hero's that made a difference, we cannot help but ask why some people get a case of the stupids?? While tragedy usually helps people unite, stupidity is a every day event. Take a listen and judge for yourself.

We cannot ignore the events that happened in Charlotsville, but Bren and I have a few thoughts on other things that were bothering us as well. Take a listen and tell us what you think!
(Due to a Death in the family, we will not have a show next Monday. We plan on coming back on September 4th!)

It's movie review time again! This week we take a look at Stanley Kubrick's classic "Full Metal Jacket"!. It's been 30 years since this movie was released and to say a lot has changed is putting it mildly. Bren and I take a look back and share a few stories of our own. Don't forget to go over to out Hollywood page for more details on this great movie.

Bren and I started this podcast to help Veterans. That also included veterans families. Ashlyn contacted us and once we heard her story we knew we had to have her on. She is a proud veterans wife with 2 great little boys. Tragically, her youngest son was born blind. Like any good mother, she is doing everything she can to make sure her son gets the best life possible. In order to do that, she will need to pick up her entire life and family and move from Iowa to Tennessee so that her young son can attend a school for the blind. Much like her military family was with her during her first childbirth, she will need that support again for this move. Listen to her story in her own words and please help Ashlyn and her husband give a better life to their young family.

Bren has made no secret of his transition and you have to respect his honesty and willingness to speak about something that most people feel is a private issue. He does this in hopes to help others that may find themselves questioning the world around them. I consider myself lucky that I took the time to get to know the person he is and didn't prejudge him like many others may do.
President Trump has now banned people like Bren from the honor of serving this country in the United States Military. There are many questions being asked and sides are already being chosen in this very controversial decision. Though many may speak, very few have actually lived this life and faced the hardships it comes with. Bren is one that can speak from experience and today he shares some of that story and gives his take on the ban and what it really means to him. He also gives us some FACTS on being a transgender individual serving in the armed forces. I invite you to listen and as always, we welcome your comments.

Today we are honored to have Lindsay Gutierrez on the show. She is not only a finalist competing in the 2017 Ms. Veterans America competition, but she is also a fierce advocate in the fight to end homelessness among women veterans. This is definitely a subject that doesn't get the attention it so rightfully deserves. Lindsay is determined to make sure this tragedy doesn't go unnoticed and we all need to join her in her bout to demand change! Below are several links you can go to to find out more about Lindsay and her partnership with Final Salute Inc. Go to our Blog page to learn more about Final Salute Inc and all the wonderful things they are doing to help our women veterans. Women veterans deserve the same respect and dignity that should be bestowed on any person that wore the uniform. I call on everyone to look around them and see what they can do to just help one person.
We also want to support Lindsay on her drive to be this years Ms. Veteran America winner. Please help her as she continues her quest to help our women veterans!!

If you are like us, Payday can't come fast enough. Many of us hate to admit it but we live paycheck to paycheck. In today's show, I tell you about a few apps that I have been using to make a little money back that have paid off. We hope you use these apps and if you have any other ways to make a little money, let us know!

Can you believe it??? We actually made it a whole year!! A lot of people lost money betting against us. Today Bren and I talk a little about some of our favorite shows from the past year, discuss some current issues and lay down a challenge. Hope you had as much fun as we did and look forward to many more years to come!

Well, as promised, I spent a weekend homeless and lived to tell about it. Today's episode we talk about how the weekend went and changes in my view of the homeless, not just veterans but all in general. It was an eye opening experience to say the least. I hope everyone that listens to the show takes a minute to realize how lucky you to have somewhere to call home. I know I'll never see homeless the same again.

Bren is back and today we discuss the demise of America's manual labor workforce and why we need to be worried. America is lacking skilled workers and while everyone is busy getting Masters degree's in marketing and business, no one is around to fix cars or repair or aging infrastructure. Listen in and see if you agree.

Bren and I have a lot of fun with this show. Whether it be debating a hot topic or just voicing our opinions, but the reason for this show is to help our brothers and sisters who wore the uniform and signed that blank check to our country. Today we our honored to have one of those vets on our show. Gary proudly served in the United States Navy and saw action in Vietnam. Now, at the age where he should be thinking of where he is going to retire, he is homeless and doesn't know where he will be sleeping from night to night. I want everyone to hear his story and if you can help in any way please contact us.

In this day and age where everyone is offended by everything and need "safe spaces", Bren and I discuss how far this is going to go...
