  • Latoya Shea is a spiritual life coach dedicated to helping people live more fulfilling lives.

Being on her own after being homeless at the age of 13, Latoya has experienced and triumphed over many obstacles. Inspired by the many that have influenced her life, she has lived a life dedicated to service and education.

This has led her on a deep spiritual journey and intimacy with God. She has been known by many titles such as health inspector, veteran, nurse, Anesthetist, prophet, and teacher until she finally accepted her calling as God's vessel to do good and guide many back to Him as a Spiritual Life Coach.

Five Ways That Forgiveness Can Heal Your Heart and Mind:

Holding a grudge against someone or even yourself can have a profound negative impact on your mental health and even cause you to feel out of alignment spiritually. To forgive is to cancel the debit you've held onto within. It may not be easy but, it can have a positive impact on all aspects of your life.

    Wartime To Peacetime

When there is an unresolved issue within you or between you and others, you're in a perpetual mindset of war. You may find yourself less trustworthy and more impatient than you can remember. Forgiveness allows you to once again experience the world from a peaceful point of view. Your perceptions in all areas of life can improve because of it.

    Spiritual Alignment

Many religions and spiritual customs preach the virtue of forgiveness. In some faiths, forgiveness is a crucial part of attaining bliss in this life as well as the afterlife. When a person is able to take this step, they may feel like they are once again in the flow of life and moving towards their highest greater good.

    Healing Begins

Being able to forgive yourself can be one of the hardest things to do. An unresolved matter of the mind or heart is an open wound that will never heal on its own. The moment you give this concern your undivided attention and make peace with it, you can finally start to recover from it.

    Increased Strength

Mahatma Gandhi once said "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." As you come to terms with longstanding matters within yourself or others, expect to see a growth spurt in your mental and spiritual fortitude.

    More Happy Days

When a boulder that has occupied your heart and soul is finally removed, you can anticipate happier days to come. You'll suddenly have "extra" energy and time that you fill with new friends and positive experiences.

  • Elliot is the Co-Founder and President of A Brighter Day, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping teens manage depression and stress.

Elliot and his wife started the nonprofit in 2015 in memory of their youngest son, Jake, who committed suicide at 19.

Every year, millions of teenagers struggle with thoughts of depression, deep sadness, isolation, stress, and the feeling of helplessness. Because of their mental health issues, thousands commit suicide, making it one of the leading causes of death among teens in the US.

Sadly, and too often, the parents of these teens are the last to learn about their child's mental problems, and sometimes it's too late to take action.

A Brighter Day aims to stop teen suicide by educating teens and their parents about mental disorders and providing resources they can use to reach out and communicate when depression and stress are affecting either their own or the lives of those around them.

They have helped thousands of teens deal with mental health issues while still allowing them to retain their privacy and dignity.

Elliot is also actively involved in several other nonprofit organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Contra Costa, and Congregation B’nai Shalom, for which he has helped raise millions of dollars.

For nearly 30 years, he has also run a wealth management firm, Prosperity Financial Group, which helps individuals achieve their retirement goals and uniquely invest their assets.

  • Benoit Kim is a former policymaker turned therapist and the host of Discover More Podcast- a show for introspective thinkers with growth mindsets seeking authentic life stories.

After leaving the private sector upon graduation, Benoit joined Teach for America (TFA) to teach in inner-city Philadelphia which soon became his entry point into the world of nonprofits and policy.

Then, in 2017, as a veteran, he experienced a deployment that forced him to take a leave from my AmeriCorps commitment with TFA and my graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania.

This near-deployment (i.e., when Trump and Kim Jun Un were threatening nuclear actions and my unit was summoned to support the troops on the North-South Korean border which was canceled 1 day before his mobilization due to the situation being de-escalated) catalyzed his first major depression and forced him to contemplate his mortality.

Growing up with a "tiger mom," I always was taught to believe that perseverance would always prevail until it did not. This was a profound realization and I believed in mental health for the first time in 24 years of my life at the time. After my near-deployment, I worked in the policymaking sector via truancy prevention and social equity programming until my most recent second career pivoted into the clinical field as a therapist.

I had to reconcile with the difficult truth that the macro is always comprised of the micros and I did not want to sacrifice my soul vis-a-vis compromising my own moral compass for the sake of utilitarian impact over time.

  • Laura Vaisman is a writer, author & mental health advocate. She teaches others that our body is the boss and that the emotions that arise from what we are feeling in our bodies are the greatest gift.

She isn’t afraid to share her own journey from healing past traumas & struggles with CPTSD. There’s too much stigma around speaking about one’s mental health, she creates the space for people to express their emotions.

It’s her mission to change the way we speak & understand mental health by normalizing human behavior and having a better understanding of the impact of trauma.

She’s been writing for over a decade on her former travel blog (Traveling Jersey Girl) and published two books, Spiritual Nomad: A Journey Within and Abroad & her new book Penny Panic, an anxiety book for teens to learn how to use coping skills to manage their anxiety.

She tells others that inner work and healing your traumas is hard work but it can be done. Healing can be messy, beautiful, and sometimes all at the same time. She preaches that consistency, showing up the best way you can, and taking it one step at a time can create change.
