šØ Melanin Mysteries is officially TWO YEARS OLD! šš„³
This week, we're kicking off our anniversary month with a heartbreaking case out of Concord, California, and I'm joined by a very special guest host, Pantha from the Pantha Politix Podcast!
Twenty-five-year-old Poinsettia "Boonie" Grant-Parks was a young mother with dreams of starting over. She had left an abusive relationship, was pregnant, and was making plans to move to Las Vegas for a fresh start. But someone refused to let her go.
In this episode, we break down the disturbing murder of Poinsettia Grant-Parks, the obsessive behavior that escalated long before her death, and how one small receipt helped investigators begin piecing together what happened that night.

šļø LOVE LIES & ALIBIS | How Long Is Too Long?
How long is too long to wait for marriage?
We hear it all the time... "Marriage is just a piece of paper." But is it really?
In this week's Love Lies & Alibis Quick Take, we're talking about long engagements, long-term relationships, and whether there comes a point when waiting becomes settling.
Would you stay with someone for 5 years? 10 years? 20 years... if marriage is something you truly want?
And here's the real question...
After spending decades building a life together, are you okay with being remembered as the "special friend" in someone's obituary?
š This one's guaranteed to spark a debate.
Drop your thoughts in the comments. I want to hear both sides.

A welfare check.
A missing Army veteran.
A boyfriend whose stories weren't adding up.
And cousins...
the more I learned about this case, the more irritated I got.
This week we're headed to Columbia, South Carolina to discuss the murder of 26-year-old Almanita Smith, a decorated Army veteran, educator, homeowner, and all-around powerhouse who had her entire future ahead of her.
When Almanita suddenly stopped answering calls from her family, alarm bells immediately started going off. What followed was an investigation that uncovered lies, secrets, and enough suspicious behavior to make detectives start side-eyeing the person closest to her.
And baby...
some people really don't know how to act when they meet a good woman.
Let's talk about it.

Can we have an uncomfortable conversation?
Why are we taking relationship advice from men who can't seem to stay faithful to the women they're with? š
Every week there's a podcast clip telling women what we're doing wrong, what men want, and how to keep a relationship together...
Then a few months later we're finding out the host has a wife, a girlfriend, a side chick, and a public apology video.
So let's talk about it.
Can a cheater still give good relationship advice?
Does good advice become bad advice when the messenger is a hypocrite?
Or are we listening for entertainment and calling it expertise?
Tonight, we're stirring the pot and asking the questions social media has been dancing around.
Grab your wine, because this one might get messy. š·

A beautiful 22-year-old woman. A festival packed with thousands of people. And one man whose ego couldn't handle being told no.
Tiaran Poyau was educated, adventurous, and had her entire future ahead of her. She had just earned her master's degree, landed her first accounting job, and was ready to take on the world.
But during Brooklyn's 2016 J'Ouvert Festival, a stranger started dancing on her without permission.
Tiaran's response?
"Get off me."
Four words that should've ended the interaction.
Instead, they sparked a chain of events that would leave one family planning a funeral and another family watching their loved one head to prison.
This week on One Bad Night, Tiffany aka Det. Lightskinn breaks down the senseless murder of Tiaran Poyau, the absolutely ridiculous way police caught her killer, and why some people let their ego write checks their common sense can't cash.
Because cousins...
Nobody should lose their life for telling somebody to leave them alone.

Cousins...
This week we are headed to Detroit, Michigan to talk about two teenagers who had plenty of options and somehow landed on murder.
When 16-year-old Larketha Collier and her 17-year-old girlfriend Sharon Patterson were told they couldn't see each other unsupervised anymore, they came up with a plan so stupid I had to stop reading and stare at the wall a couple times.
Instead of doing what normal teenagers do, these two decided that 64-year-old Bertha Atkins had to go.
And if that wasn't enough foolishness, after murdering Grandma Bertha and setting the house on fire, these little hoodlums went to the movies to "get their minds off it."
Girl...
What?!
Join me as we discuss teenage obsession, Grandma Bertha's tragic murder, the confession, the trial, the appeals, and the resentencing that would come years later.
And as always, I need to know what y'all think because this case had me asking "WHY?" from beginning to end.

šļø LOVE, LIES & ALIBIS: QUICK HIT
"What's up, y'all? Welcome to the very first Love, Lies & Alibis Quick Hit.
Now unlike our regular Love, Lies & Alibis discussions, these are gonna be short, sweet, and straight to the point. Just a few minutes of relationship talk, hot takes, and the kind of questions that'll have y'all arguing in the comments and texting your friends.
So let's get into today's Quick Hit.
I was watching that classic episode of A Different World where Dwayne Wayne stops Whitley's wedding to Byron, and it got me thinking...
Why do we think wedding protests are so romantic?
Because baby, if I'm standing at the altar and somebody comes running through the doors talking about, 'Wait! I love you!'
We already got a problem.
But if my fiancƩ actually leaves me standing there after I done spent all this damn money?
Somebody getting introduced to this bouquet personally. šš
Now don't get me wrong, Dwayne and Whitley got their happy ending, but can we talk about Byron? Because that man got embarrassed in front of his family, her family, and everybody else who showed up for the free food.
So I want to know...
Are wedding protests romantic?
Or are they selfish and completely out of line?
Drop your thoughts in the comments, and I'll see y'all on the next Love, Lies & Alibis Quick Hit."

A love triangle.
A jealous rage.
A pregnant 20-year-old.
And four children whose lives would never be the same.
This week on Melanin Mysteries, we're heading to Newark, New Jersey, to discuss the tragic case of Sha-Ron Moens and Nadiyah Venable.
What started as a messy relationship involving a much older man, his estranged partner, and his young girlfriend quickly spiraled into a deadly confrontation that would leave one woman dead, another facing life in prison, and multiple children caught in the crossfire.
We'll break down the complicated relationship between Sha-Ron, Nadiyah, and Ken Jones, the events leading up to the attack, the heartbreaking testimony from a 13-year-old girl forced to relive the worst day of her life, and the questions that still surround Nadiyah's mysterious death in prison just one year after her conviction.
Cousins... this case had me talking to my microphone.
Grab your wine, your sweet tea, your edible, or whatever gets you through listening to people make terrible life choices, because this one is messy, heartbreaking, and completely avoidable.
ā ļø Listener Discretion Advised: This episode contains discussions of murder, domestic violence, graphic violence, and crimes involving children that may be disturbing to some listeners.

Cousins...this one is gonna have y'all arguing in the comments.
In 1999, six-year-old Tiffany Eunick was left in the care of a trusted family friend. Hours later, she was dead from catastrophic injuries that medical experts compared to those seen in serious car accidents. The person responsible?
Twelve-year-old Lionel Tate.
What followed was one of the most controversial criminal cases in modern American history. Prosecutors said Lionel's obsession with professional wrestling led to a brutal attack that killed Tiffany. His defense argued he was a child who didn't understand the consequences of his actions.
A life sentence.National outrage.Appeals.Al Sharpton rallies. The Rock getting dragged into court. And a second chance that left many people shaking their heads.
This week, we're unpacking the case of Lionel Tate, the first child in modern U.S. history sentenced to life in prison without parole, and asking the question people are still debating decades later:
Was this a tragic accident?
Or did Lionel know exactly what he was doing?
Grab your wine, your tea, your emotional support snack, and let's talk about it.

This week on One Bad Night, weāre headed to Cleveland where a body found floating in a pond turns into one of the messiest, most chaotic investigations Iāve covered yet.
What started with a āmannequinā in the water quickly spiraled into blood-covered stairwells, burning carpet in the middle of winter, taxi records, missing towels, contradictory stories, and a man whose lies got more ridiculous every time he opened his mouth.
And somewhere in the middle of all that chaos was Cemia āCeeCeeā Dove Acoff, a woman who fought for her life.
Trust meā¦this case is a WHOLE lot.

A Milwaukee home health aide gives two teenagers a ride and never makes it back home. What unfolds next is a story involving a stolen car, a pregnant 13-year-old, a 17-year-old boyfriend, adult prison sentences, and enough dysfunction to make your jaw hit the FLOOR.
And trust meā¦this case is way deeper than it first appears.
This week weāre diving into the case of Latasha Armstead & James Williams and babyā¦the question everybody STILL argues about is:

This week on Melanin Mysteries, weāre heading to Dallas, Texas to discuss the horrifying murders of Mischell Fuller and her daughter, Desaree Hoskins.
What started as a toxic, jealousy-fueled relationship spiraled into one of the most brutal and disturbing cases weāve covered yet. After secretly recording Mischellās private conversations with her ex-husband, Tyrone Cade became enraged over the possibility of losing control of the relationship. What happened next was a nightmare fueled by obsession, sexual violence, rage, and entitlement.
But babyā¦the crime itself was only HALF the chaos. Because once this case went to trial, the courtroom turned into a whole circus. From āabandonment rageā testimony, to defense experts who seemed to accidentally help the prosecution every time they opened their mouths, to Tyroneās own family getting on the stand saying things that made absolutely NO senseā¦this case was wild from start to finish.
We also dig into Tyroneās disturbing history of violence against women, including a prior sexual assault case years before Mischell and Desaree lost their lives. And honestly? This episode raises some serious questions about warning signs, accountability, and what happens when dangerous men keep getting second chances.
This episode contains discussions of graphic violence, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Listener discretion is strongly advised.
